This picture is today, 2 days after the guys were on the tower.

Do the 2 different sized panels mean its a NV tower?

Are they posting NV upgrades on network.sprint.com now in addition to the "band aid" fixes? It seems like there are more blips popping up on the map, but I could just be off base.

Can you post these pictures on photobucket or some other site like it and then I can tell you about the tower.

NV sites are not posted there, but if you join this site as a sponsor you can view sites done and much more great stuff!

Shentel is a Sprint affiliate. Its a private company that pays Sprint to use its network/spectrum and name. Sprint only has two affiliates left. Shentel (in your area) and Swiftel (in S. Dakota).

For the most part, Shentel is a good affiliate that provides superior performance in its rural and tertiary markets than Sprint does. Also, Shentel will have a mostly fiber backed network with NV/LTE.

wait, i thought there was one in West Kansas though too, no???....remember pointing out the question on the future LTE map and how it cut off West Kansas coverage for LTE when it currently looks to blanket the area on network for 3G...

Or is that area not an affiliate and rather referred to something else??

pretty sure is a roaming agreement to be shown to "sprint coverage", kinda like pioneer was for sw of Wichita, and Oklahoma

ahh okay. yeah b/c it doesn't show up when zoomed in as shaded roaming it shows as native sprint coverage which was odd b/c the coverage was real thick there it seemed and then completely left out of the LTE coverage...

Western KS is mostly Nex-Tech Wireless out of Hays. It's a Sprint Roaming Alliance Member. The Dodge City, Garden City, KS area is another company. But Nex-Tech has great coverage and speed. Hope Sprint lets them use spectrum for LTE since Verizon has it now in some of those areas.

So a "Roaming Alliance Member" is something that allows Sprint to say its "their" native "On-Network" coverage on their maps, and is completely different than roaming agreements set with other carriers?

I was thinking of how to explain it but will let wikipedia say it for me,

Affiliates of SprintNextel Corp. and Sprint Rural Alliance

CDMA Affiliates: Swiftel in Brookings, South Dakota;[9] Shentel in northern Virginia, and parts of Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia.

CDMA Partners (SRA Members): Alaska DigiTel in Alaska; NTelos in West Virginia, and western Virginia; NexTech Wireless in Kansas, and part of Colorado; Pioneer Cellular in Kansas and Oklahoma, in which their agreement ends on March 1, 2012.

Sprint Affiliates are those carriers who use the Sprint name to offer their services yet operate their own network and use Sprint SIDs.

Sprint Partners are those carriers who use their own equipment and also sell their own service. In addition to allowing Sprint to use their equipment, they allow Sprint to hold their licenses in that area.

Sprint Partners are known as "Sprint Rural Alliance" (SRA).

Save a screenshoot, upload to photosharing site like photobucket then share the link here. Can't post files directly here to keep cost down.

There are 3 new towers going up by the highway on my way to work. In these areas sprints speed is 50kbps -100kbps.

But none of these show up on sprints network map.

Would dissapoint me to no end if they are verizon or at&t as both those carriers have great signal and speeds in those areas already.

I live in the currently cursed south Chicago area.

Their is a brand new tower just built along my route to work, but its not shown on the sprint map. No signs on it saying who its for, was built in April, which is the correct time frame for the Joliet area. (This is like 15 minutes south of Joliet).

The location on the new tower is right where the middle Route 53 symbol is, just north of W. Mississippi road. Its right on the road, at the edge of a farmer's pasture. I'll try to take a picture in the morning on my way home.

Sean, superior dropper of phone calls since April 2012. here is link to map. Right by the town of Elwood in Illinois.

That is it. It is higher then the other towers I've seen around too. Brand new. Doesn't have much of a base station equipment set up around it currently, just a small box on the fence. Hasn't helped my signal either.

Who's tower is it going to be?

SBA towers is the ones who put it up, they do alot with at&t so thats my first thought...but others do use them as well. so keep an eye and check out signs on and base station equipment.

    • In the conference call they had two question on additional spectrum. One was the 800 spectrum. They are not certain what will happen, thus have not really put it into their plans either way (sale or no sale). They do have a reserve level. Nationwide 800Mhz is seen as great for new technologies which I presume is IOT or 5g slices.  T-Mobile did not bite on use of their c-band or DOD.  mmWave rapidly approaching deadlines not mentioned at all. FWA brushes on this as it deals with underutilized spectrum on a sector by sector basis.  They are willing to take more money to allow FWA to be mobile (think RV or camping). Unsure if this represents a higher priority, for example, FWA Mobile in RVs in Walmart parking lots working where mobile phones need all the capacity. In terms of FWA capacity, their offload strategy is fiber through joint ventures where T-Mobile does the marketing, sales, and customer support while the fiber company does the network planning and installation.  50%-50% financial split not being consolidated into their books. I think discussion of other spectrum would have diluted the fiber joint venture discussion. They do have a fund which one use is to purchase new spectrum. Sale of the 800Mhz would go into this. It should be noted that they continue to buy 2.5Ghz spectrum from schools etc to replace leases. They will have a conference this fall  to update their overall strategies. Other notes from the call are 75% of the phones on the network are 5g. About 85% of their sites have n41, n25, and n71, 90% 5g.  93% of traffic is on midband.  SA is also adding to their performance advantage, which they figure is still ahead of other carriers by two years. It took two weeks to put the auction 108 spectrum to use at their existing sites. Mention was also made that their site spacing was designed for midrange thus no gaps in n41 coverage, while competitors was designed for lowband thus toggles back and forth for n77 also with its shorter range.
    • The manual network selection sounds like it isn't always scanning NR, hence Dish not showing up. Your easiest way to force Dish is going to be forcing the phone into NR-only mode (*#*#4636#*#* menu?), since rainbow sims don't support SA on T-Mobile.
    • "The company’s unique multi-layer approach to 5G, with dedicated standalone 5G deployed nationwide across 600MHz, 1.9GHz, and 2.5GHz delivers customers a consistently strong experience, with 85% of 5G traffic on sites with all three spectrum bands deployed." Meanwhile they are very close to a construction deadline June 1 for 850Mhz of mmWave in most of Ohio covering 27500-28350Mhz expiring 6/8/2028. No reported sightings.  Buildout notice issue sent by FCC in March 5, 2024 https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/letterPdf/LetterPdfController?licId=4019733&letterVersionId=178&autoLetterId=13060705&letterCode=CR&radioServiceCode=UU&op=LetterPdf&licSide=Y&archive=null&letterTo=L  No soecific permits seen in a quick check of Columbus. They also have an additional 200Mhz covering at 24350-25450 Mhz and 24950-25050Mhz with no buildout date expiring 12/11/2029.
    • T-Mobile Delivers Industry-Leading Customer, Service Revenue and Profitability Growth in Q1 2024, and Raises 2024 Guidance https://www.t-mobile.com/news/business/t-mobile-q1-2024-earnings — — — — — I find it funny that when they talk about their spectrum layers they're saying n71, n25, and n41. They're completely avoiding talking about mmWave.
    • Was true in my market. Likely means a higher percentage of 5g phones in your market.
