iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus User Thread

After using a note 4 for a few days I decided I really want a 6s+ or whatever freak name they're going to give the thing. Having a bigger screen is starting to become a must for me. Having bad eyesight and a smallish screen kinda sucks. Considering selling my phone outright but I agree with you guys. I don't want to have to worry about coordinating all of it just to be taken on fees and all of that crap. Guess we'll see how I feel when the new ones get announced.

I haven't googled or anything but has anyone heard anything about the next apple watch? My credit card got a bump in its limit and I've been itching to swipe it somewhere.

Super long post edit. I think I said I was going to try the new Moro earlier in the thread. Android seems to have lost some of its polish to me. Notifications aren't the same as they were iirc and it seems to just not be as smooth or efficient as iOS. Don't think I'll waste the time or effort on any of the new androids.

Been using the s6 edge now for a few bours. It's nice... I keep on hitting the return button tho which is really annoying...

I am excited to run around and see if I can find some CA.

It's crazy how fast these people testing this phone out are eating up data. I wonder what happens when we run out?

I was told you get only 2gb of data for the test drive phones according to the samsung rep. They said if you go over you'll be responsible for the additional usage. My phone came today but won't get to it until later tonight.

That sure is a very low number when the usage text says 1154GB. Very interesting question now.

I know. I even asked if I could just activate the phone on my like for the 30 days and they said I couldn't. I'm going to think they the rep thought I had it with Verizon or AT&T.

Im at .15 go of usage. If everyone gets 2 gb that means there are over 550 lines on this shared data plan haha

Noooooo don't say that lol!!! I can't fully enjoy that phone on 2gb. I'm going to try and do a phone swap on my line tonight if it's true with the data. Well I could just disable the data.

I believe so. Phone is updating but I'll take a look after...

Edit. Yes it is included. Have my iPhone on it right now. Lol

Man... it's now up to 40 gb of usage. These people are viscious. I kind of just want to do speed tests to see if it'll go over 2 gb but it seems a bit wasteful

This test drive thing is going to be a mess within itself since it's shared data.

Yeh.... just gonna have to see how it works I guess. If they cut me off at 2 gb I'll be sending the phone back a lot sooner than 30 days later.

Edit... now at 42 gb usage

Right. I think that's what's going to happen with me. Kind a hard to keep track of your own usage when it's shared like that. I know I'm not paying for what I go over if it's managed this way.

its going to blow up in their faces if they didn't make it clear to every one that they only get 2 gigs, they are kinda screwed either way, if they cut people off they will be pissed... if they charge them overages they will be even more pissed off....  i have to imagine since its a "test drive" people are going to use crazy amounts of data just trying it out... should be interesting.

I wonder if Samsung realizes that a lot of people will use this to test other networks, not to find out if they want a s6 edge or other Samsung device . Don't get me wrong, the phone is nice...but I just feel people want to use it as an extremely inexpensive way of testing out a network they are considering on switching to.

That was my same thoughts. When signing up it states nothing about 2gb. I had to find that out via a rep. People are going to run crazy with the data because it's not their line.

that is %150 correct they might... might get some switchers but nothing meaningful, people who have iphones are generally invested in the eco system (itunes, app store, icloud).  same goes for android except people are not required to be brand loyal, they can easily (relatively) switch from HTC, LG, samsung, if they get any switchers i think the majority will be from other android makers.  also a side note, any one have and "edge" device?  is it useful or just a gimmick?

I have the s6 edge. I so absolutely 0 function to it. It's purely aesthetic. In fact, it makes holding the phone more difficult and distorts images and videos. Nothing too serious , but I see no functional purpose of it

me either, i was talking to a sprint store rep last time i was in... I asked him to sell me on the "edge", he had nothing to say other than its the only curved phone!      I also do not understand the benefit of a curved tv, yes the look nice but in a living room with every one at multiple viewing angles it will drive the people on the edges of the tv nuts.

I see no point either besides the cool factor. I looked at a curved TV at best buy and got dizzy just looking at it.

Funny that I am now holding my iPhone and enjoying it much more. I noticed a lot of UI lag with that edge. Even scrolling on websites is full of it. And in messages. Actually, everywhere.

    • I have my Dish phone locked to NR-only.  That keeps it on Dish and only occasionally will it see T-Mobile NR SA for brief periods before going to no service. I also don't have mine band locked beyond that, except that I have some of the unused bands turned off just to try to reduce scan time.  Fortunately, my Dish phone is the one with the MediaTek chipset, so it has NR neighbor cells, and I can usually see n71, n70, n66, and sometimes n29 (market-dependent) through those regardless of which band it's connected to as primary. - Trip
    • Excuse my rookie comments here, but after enabling *#73#, it seems that the rainbow sim V2? requires n70 (I turned it off along with n71 - was hoping to track n66) to be available else it switches to T-Mobile.  So this confirms my suspicion that you need to be close to a site to get on Dish.  Have no idea why they don't just use plmn. To test, I put it into a s21 ultra, rebooted twice, came up on T-Mobile (no n70 on s21).  Tried to manually register on 313340, but it did not connect (tried twice). I am on factory unlocked firmware but used a s22 hack to get *#73# working.  Tried what you were suggesting with a T-Mobile sim partially installed, but that was very unstable with Dish ( I think they had figured that one out).  [edit: and now I see Boost sent me a successful device swap notice which says I can now begin to use my new device.  Sigh.  Will try again later and wait for this message - too impatient.]
    • Hopefully this indicates T-Mobile hasn't completely abandoned mmwave and/or small cells? But then again this is the loop, so take that as you will. Hopefully now that most macro activity is done (besides rural colo/builds), they will start working on small cells.
    • This has been approved.. https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/fcc-approves-t-mobiles-deal-to-purchase-mint-mobile/
    • In the conference call they had two question on additional spectrum. One was the 800 spectrum. They are not certain what will happen, thus have not really put it into their plans either way (sale or no sale). They do have a reserve level. Nationwide 800Mhz is seen as great for new technologies which I presume is IOT or 5g slices.  T-Mobile did not bite on use of their c-band or DOD.  mmWave rapidly approaching deadlines not mentioned at all. FWA brushes on this as it deals with underutilized spectrum on a sector by sector basis.  They are willing to take more money to allow FWA to be mobile (think RV or camping). Unsure if this represents a higher priority, for example, FWA Mobile in RVs in Walmart parking lots working where mobile phones need all the capacity. In terms of FWA capacity, their offload strategy is fiber through joint ventures where T-Mobile does the marketing, sales, and customer support while the fiber company does the network planning and installation.  50%-50% financial split not being consolidated into their books. I think discussion of other spectrum would have diluted the fiber joint venture discussion. They do have a fund which one use is to purchase new spectrum. Sale of the 800Mhz would go into this. It should be noted that they continue to buy 2.5Ghz spectrum from schools etc to replace leases. They will have a conference this fall  to update their overall strategies. Other notes from the call are 75% of the phones on the network are 5g. About 85% of their sites have n41, n25, and n71, 90% 5g.  93% of traffic is on midband.  SA is also adding to their performance advantage, which they figure is still ahead of other carriers by two years. It took two weeks to put the auction 108 spectrum to use at their existing sites. Mention was also made that their site spacing was designed for midrange thus no gaps in n41 coverage, while competitors was designed for lowband thus toggles back and forth for n77 also with its shorter range.
