Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite Beta (Formerly iOS 8 Beta/Mac OS 10.10 Beta)

Recommended Posts

I was pondering downloading the Yosemite Beta but ultimately decided against it. I downloaded the installer and everything but deleted it after searching the web a bit. If I had a second Mac, I'd do it but I'm just a but too unsettled.

I'm not sure if the programs that I'd need to run for m CompSci class in college would still work.

I installed it on my DD and had a little concern at first but it's gone. Especially since I use my Mac for work, so j was taking a risk. There are some bugs and the computer tasks itself a little harder than usual, and safari is buggy. Everything else appears to work okay.

I checked in the update software area and all it tells me is that I'm on iOS 8. No beta version or anything.

It doesn't ever say what beta version you're on. It should always just say "Version: x.x.x". And it seems odd to me that you downloaded beta 4 and when you go to the "Software Update" section that it doesn't say "iOS 8 Beta 5". There might be something wrong...

Beta 4 is the newest beta.

This is all it shows. It will say checking and then go to this page.
Beta 4 works fine but I would obviously rather be on the latest version if at all possible.

Mid 2010 MacBook Pro? 13, 15, or 17 inch?

I have the 13" MBP. Lately I have been having all kinds of problem with the stupid hard drive cable. I have replaced it like 3-4 times. I have upgraded to a 500GB SSD and 8GB of ram and it flies when it's not having the problems.

I'm considering getting a new ssd as I am running out of space too often. Just deleted a thousand pictures and tons of videos from iPhoto and it got me about 5 gb of space. I still only have like 23 gb of space. Hmmmmm

You know, I had forgotten I carry around my 160GB factory HDD from my Mid 2009 MacBook Pro, so I installed Yosemite, and boy do I love it. So much cleaner of an interface! And I love the transparency!

Anyone having tapatalk issues with the beta (on iPhone)? Every time I go to view a thread it crashes, but if I log out it doesn't happen. I tried deleting the app cache and reinstalling the app but it still crashes.

I have tapatalk issues even not on beta....Tapatalk has always been kinda hit or miss with performance.

Nope, haven't had that problem. Even while I'm on the beta.

i'm pretty sure dictation uses data like siri does.  I have noticed that when I am in bad coverage areas dictation takes forever to convert the voice into text.

Yeh I knew that the current process involves data, but the guy said in the video that he doesn't have to wait for apple severs to process the data... So am wondering how it's done.

When I turn on airplane mode the option gets grayed out, that is why I assumed it was still going up to the cloud.

Really hope they will jailbreak ios8 promptly.

Why? If the jailbreak community is pre-mature, Apple will patch the betas, making it harder for an actual jailbreak to be released. And frankly, jailbreaking is becoming less and less relevant.
