Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite Beta (Formerly iOS 8 Beta/Mac OS 10.10 Beta)

Why? I don't use it that much.

Firstly illegal abuse of the network is a banned discussion here. Secondly it's usually going to have a negative affect on the network for other customers.

That's better than what most people use it for. The reason it's such a touchy topic here is that most people who say they tether illegally, abuse the hell out of the network. I'm talking 100's of gb's on a wireless network that isn't made for that. There's a big issue with a lot of TMO customers doing that because they say they can.

Dictation still uses data, even on the beta. :(

:( . I guess it makes sense. Give it a few years and we might be able to do that without internet...

They probably don't want to increase the size of ios8.

Don't forget about the terabyte club....

My brother suggested that if we had good service when we moved we could also do this. Then I informed him of how wrong he is, and how detrimental that is to the network and he said oh...didn't know that. You'd be surprised on how many people have no idea that what they're doing impacts the network negatively.

Mac OS X Mavericks got offline dictation, and the download was to the tune of 960 MB or so to do it. To increase iOS that much to bring offline dictation to the iPhone would be bad for the 16GB & lower models.

Well the iPhone's/iPad's/iPod's all have a specific portion of the Flash Storage partitioned off specifically for the OS. I think it's around 2 GB, at least on the 5S. iOS 8 beta 4 is around 1.8 GB on the 5S, so 960 MB would be more than is partitioned, which means less user storage.

1.8 GB already? Wow.

Plus the iphone has a lot less processing power and RAM.

RAM? Yes. Processing power? That's a little complicated. I recently found an article about the A7 chip that says that it can actually hold its own against the Intel i-series processors. When Apple says the A7 chip is a "desktop class" processor, they're not joking.

Hey, maybe the iPhone 6 5.5 will have 2GB RAM or more and support offline dictation.

When will Apple make iTunes on Windows less of a turd? I was a Mac user for years, but just switched back to Windows because I like the idea of paying less than $1000 for my desktop and being able to upgrade the RAM when necessary. iTunes is horrible on Windows. Slow and crashes often.

Whenever Apple ditches XML for storing library information (Among other things).

I doubt XML is the issue. It isn't on Mac OS; it runs flawlessly on OS X. On Windows, though, it takes a few seconds to react to my mouse click and freezes when syncing sometimes.

We have enough RAM now that my entire XML library file can be stored in RAM, along with a sizable chunk of my music files. I hate to think Apple purposefully hobbles iTunes on Windows, but it kind of seems like that considering how pokey it is. If it weren't for my iPhone, I would have ditched it long ago. None of my music is DRM anymore.

I would just like to state that, god, I love Apple. My phone was doing this weird popping noise and the screen would push in and out and I was just annoyed with the fact that it's happening. I took it to apple, they took a look at it, (there was actually an option on their iPad for screen is making popping noises so I know that it's not me being crazy), and they got me a new one and I restored from iCloud and was on my way. No hassle. It's nice. Keeps me as a loyal customer TBH

Had this happen with my iPhone 5c. The longest part was waiting for my device to restore from iCloud.

Was the weird popping noise happening when making calls/using the cellular radio?
