Network Vision/LTE - Albuquerque market (including El Paso, Las Cruces, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Roswell)

So for all of you who work right near me... I just got a ping of 168 and download speeds of 1.74 mbps at work. This is by far the fastest speeds I've gotten here at work on 3g.

Sorry guy, can't test this anymore.  I very recently found out after my last post that my GFs work is a total deadzone so not seeing a point in paying for a line that doesn't work 8-10 hours a day, I jumped to T-Mobile.

Tmo is fantastic in ABQ and Santa Fe...in the city limits. It's all 2G EDGE everywhere else. :td:

The TorC site hasn't been accepted yet. So they may have it hooked up to legacy backhaul while checking if the equipment is operational and forgot to take it down.

So what is the deal with the accepted site in cruces losing LTE?

Happens all the time in unlaunched markets.

But isn't Sprint basically 2G everywhere in NM?

absolutely not. Sprint has quite a bit of 3g and with NV almost every site, rural or not, will have 3g and 4g, even if it only has 2g right now.

Every Sprint site in New Mexico has 3G EVDO/EHRPD. And the ones outside the city where Tmo only has 2G work great. Typically 1-2.5Mbps.

I've only been getting mostly sub 1 Mbps on Sprint in the city...

Just ran a test here at work and got .21 mbps down and .05 up...

That is because you are on a legacy tower that likely had insufficient backhaul in place. Once we start seeing lte turned on you will also see over 1mbps 3g speeds all over town pretty consistently.

Speaking of which... I was driving by Jefferson/Paseo today after lunch and once again must have been on that updated GMO 3G tower by balloon fiesta and got speeds of about 1.5 Mbps... can't wait to see that at least those speeds citywide!

Welcome to being a Premier Sponsor. I suggest you spend a bunch of time in the Sponsor and Premier section. So much information to get caught up on.

Im starting to decide if i should stay with Sprint, or switch to T-Mobile

like it has been said on here before, T-Mobile is good in the New Mexico metro areas but unusable (data wise) outside of them. Sprint is hitting a few speed bumps, but once tri band lte is deployed it will be amazing! And plus you can now buy a tri band phone, so in essence, you can future proof yourself.

I'm starting to think that inspectors who accept sites have left our state and are not returning until ABQ proper catches up with backhaul so they can justify their presence beyond a few sites.

Has anyone been to the west side to see if any of their towers have begun work? I think last I looked, I only saw one tower in progress west of the river.

I have a route I am going to do on Sunday to my parents house. I will pick up most along 528 and rio rancho.

I seem to want to agree with you. However, most of the sites i have been too in abq have no sign of backhaul at all.  This was all within the last three or four weeks that I have been visiting. I do hope this changes.

I would hope that Sprint gets all the towers ready to go before the winter and then centurylink can bring backhaul to all the sites.

Me too. I can only tell customers "in the coming months" for so long.

I'd love to know exactly what the backhaul install process truly entails.  Is it just them plugging a few things in?  Is it running all sorts of fiber down miles and miles of underground duct work?  What exactly is taking so long?

I live on the westside, but I don't ever seen any trucks around from my point of view.

Another wave of acceptances and not one acceptance in the ABQ Market. hmmm... I am starting to get scared the ABQ will be the last possible place for LTE.

:td:

    • Uploaded data without issues on Friday. Now with the latest update I am getting "Cluster #1 skipped: invalid file format detected. File exported for inspection." Doing same with all other clusters. Did this on 4 phones in a row.  Seems to work on s24 ultra just fine. On s21 ultra it says "web data upload failed. No data to send" although 8800 records were displayed. Now gives same error as above. I have not sent the data from 3 other phones.  All should have latest update.
    • After several months of testing, an update to SignalCheck Pro is rolling out on Google Play. It may take up to 48 hours to become available for download. Notable changes include: Added option to display site notes for NSA 5G-NR cells. Enabling this new option (Preferences > Display Settings > Show NSA 5G-NR Site Notes) will cause the app to make an "educated guess" as to what the most appropriate site note is linked to the connected NSA 5G cell, using the PCI and the device location. If it finds an existing entry that is likely to be relevant, it will display the note along with the distance from where the strongest signal from that cell was logged. While connected to NSA 5G, these notes cannot be edited; a valid NCI is required to add/edit notes and that information is not available on NSA connections.   Added option to log cells with missing/invalid PLMN (such as NSA 5G-NR cells). Users asked for the ability to log data for NSA 5G, so a new option (Preferences > Logger Settings > Log Cells with Missing PLMN) will permit this.   Added option to display LTE info above 5G-NR info. Enabling this new option (Preferences > Display Settings > Show LTE Cells Above 5G-NR Cells) shows the same information that is currently displayed, but moves the LTE information above the 5G-NR information. Other changes: Code optimizations and enhancements. Improved Android 15 compatibility. Overhauled Purchases module. Resolved force closes impacting some GSM/LTE connections. Resolved issue with improper 5G-NR PLMN display when NR/LTE PLMNs did not match. Resolved issue with improper PLMN display with single-digit MNCs. Resolved issue with incorrect 5G-NR bands displayed on some devices due to Android bug. Resolved issue with incorrect number of neighbor cells displayed when some cells were unknown. Resolved issue with missing 5G-NR data when sector display is enabled. Resolved issue with saving 5G-NR site notes when NR/LTE PLMNs did not match. Resolved issue with settings to log missing GCI/NCI/TAC/PLMN being ignored. Resolved issues with web data export function. Updated internal libraries. Updated provider database. Updated target API to Android 15. I appreciate all of your support, and a big thank you to the members of the Beta Crew that help with testing and feedback!
    • Oct security update is out.
    • Stopped by again today and the antennas are up but it isn't live just yet. If other Sprint conversions are anything to go by it'll likely take about a month for the site to go live.
    • It is an Android bug that was reportedly fixed in August 2023 but definitely has not been. I have implemented numerous workarounds in SCP to correct the NR bands the app displays. The OS ignores the possibility that many NR-ARFCNs are valid across multiple bands.. it reports the lowest NR band that is valid for the current ARFCN. In your example, channel 432530 can be n1, n65, or n66.. so the OS just (lazily) reports n1.   Awesome, thanks! I will add an n65 override also.
