  • 2 weeks later...

Yikes, not a single upgraded site in Central Jersey within the last week. Any of you think they're just waiting to turn on a cluster of sites, or if this is possibly "polar vortex" related?

I would have to say polar vortex is responsible. If anything maybe they popped in a few carrier cards for 800

It was definitely the Polar Vortex that stopped updates throughout much of the Northern U.S. Living in NYC, I was kind of disappointed to see only 1 LTE update in an entire week, but I already knew the reason why. It's hard to work in almost subzero temperatures.

I was at the Telford Inn in Mantua last night and I beat Verizon (Galaxy S4) and AT&T (iPhone 5s) in a speedtest.net battle.  I was sporting the HTC One.  Hit 24 down/8 up.  What a wonderful feeling!  Every day is getting faster and more reliable.

hey aj how s the lte deployment going by you ?

First, if your refrigerator is running, you had better go catch it.

As for LTE in my market, initial deployment is about 90 percent complete.

Hey, all:

Been reading this thread with some interest. I'm looking at Virgin Mobile, for my iPhone. VM uses Sprint's network.

So am I correct in understanding that the major towns in Camden and Burlington Counties (Cherry Hill, Mt. Laurel, Evesham, etc.) are actually get 4G LTE?

TIA for any help.

Sprint is upgrading their entire network. If you get EVDO signal, you will see LTE by the time upgrades are complete.

All markets are under construction at this point. The vast majority of sites have had their new equipment installed, however are still waiting on the upgraded backhaul (Fiber, Microwave, etc.) to be delivered to the site before they can turn on LTE.

It will likely take the majority of this year to get LTE active on all sites, however they should have most areas with some coverage in the next few months.

Sounds like you won't even get LTE 1900. You will have to wait for 800lte unless another tower goes up.

    • Was in Red Hook again and I swear there are as many Link5G sites as there are reserved small cells from franchisees in the entire neighborhood. It seemed like every other street I turned down had one installed. Hopefully carriers will start hopping on them soon. Seems like a lot of effort to go through for no one to use them. — — — — — T-Mobile converted the Sprint site on top of NYU Langone Brooklyn in Sunset Park. I first mapped one sector of it back in November 2023 but I thought it was a small cell so I never pinned it but I ran into another sector today which caught me off guard. I'm unable to find a permit for the conversion so it's definitely a surprise. There's another T-Mobile site 1 block away that T-Mobile initially installed back in 2019 so I'm kinda surprised they're keeping both considering the Sprint conversion is on a much taller building and coule potentially provide much better coverage to the entire area.
    • Still not seeing any ULS postings for pending T-Mobile UScellular merger in Dane county Wisconsin.
    • Came across another Crown Castle Solutions multi-tenant oDAS node in Brooklyn. Located at 40.7002286, -73.9612666. Nothing on T-Mobile or AT&T so I'm assuming these are all Verizon nodes that Crown Castle is anticipating another carrier will hop on down the line.
