Mondays In Flames

My ping time is 78 to 180. It's very high as well and my signal levels are low unless im 1 block from the tower at the gym.

If you live so far away from a Sprint tower and dislike the service, why don't u switch carriers???

I did try changing my servers to a few of them. Like I said the day I went from a note 3 to a note 4 there was a huge difference in my speed. I was consistently getting 20 + megabytes per second. Now I'll be lucky if I get 5 - 10 megabits on B 41 but normally its now under 1 megabit. Sadly I don't leave this 10 block radius very often so I do believe it's a tower related problem. :-/ I have been a loyal Sprint customer for 11 years I'm just hoping they fix this and soon

how you confirmed that's your tower? Because I have a clear tower half a mile away about and I get service in every crevice of my house, neighborhood clubhouse, and all around this area from that single tower.

Bud. You are complaining to the wrong bunch. We know it sucks. The difference is that your phone is now connecting to b41, and it wasn't before. To be honest, I'm not sure how you would've gotten speeds that good on b25 in miami.

I still recommend reporting it. Or email jerry.williams@sprint.com. They always seem to get back to me quickly.

It's probably not a Sprint tower. Have you checked out our Sprint tower equipment spotting guides? You would want to look at the Ericsson NV spotting guide, and Nokia 8T8R spotting guide.

Also, we have maps of the entire Sprint network tower locations in our sponsor section. We greatly appreciate our sponsors because S4GRU is a non-profit site, and is run entirely off the donations from our members. Without them S4GRU would not exist.

I highly doubt the change in speed was from changing devices. I would expect should you return to the Note 3, you would see worse service than you are seeing now with the Note 4. The change is most likely explained by an increase in load on the network.

Do you know if you are connecting to Clearwire B41 or Sprint B41? SCP will tell you, and that will help in diagnosing the problem. Also, B41 may not be coming from the site closest to you. Your device will try to hang onto any B41 signal it can, even if a B25 or B26 signal might be better suited for your current situation.

1. Sprint confirmed the address if the tower.

2. I have reported it to sprint and on the app.

3 I talked to sprint techs when they were working on the tower

4. Sprint confirmed that's the tower in use 99% of the time.

5. Clearwater b41 and yes what is the difference please??

Hope that helps!

. with your note 3 you didn't connect to the clear tower, you connected to a sprint tower with band 25/26 (most likely lacking band 41) speeds on this tower are high because the clear tower with band 41 was taking a significant portion of the load in the area. The clear wire towers normally have limited capacity and range compared to a sprint band 41 tower. So now that you have a note 4 you connect to a congested clear tower, since you phone will hold on to band 41 at all costs you won't be kicked to the sprint tower, despite its better performance. You may be able to disable band 41 however I'm not familiar enough with the note for to know how, if you even can. Someday your clear tower may be upgraded to a full build, or they may add band 41 to the sprint tower and shut down the clear tower, they do this on a case by case basis. Hope this helps

Edit looks like you can disable band 41

No that was not an auto correct. I'm still connected to Clearwater B41 or sprint b25,b26 but when he changed the msid # my speed came back. Idk if it fixed my texts or calls yet. Also hes sending me a new note 4 due to my battery drain issues yaa...

Is that a place or something?

We need to know if you are connected to ClearWIRE or Sprint B41.

There is a difference.

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
