Ok I'm confused.. How do you add a picture (without trying to juggle between the KBs of image space given on the forum. I tried Flickr (not allowed)' date=' ImageShack (not allowed).. Anything allowed????

I use photo bucket.

I got my first 4G indication on my Galaxy SIII today, but it doesn't seem to hang around long. This is in Round Rock/Brushy Creek/Austin, TX.

We also just got a Radio/Firmware upgrade on the SIII today.

So, I hope(!) this means good things :)

Please run the Sensorly app the next time in this area so we can plot the location. This is great news! Thanks!

Ok, I've loaded sensorly, and tried(!) to report when it was showing 4G, but it's having a hard time.

Ideas?

Success!!! It is now on Sensorly: http://sensorly.com/fullscreen/map/4G/US/USA/Sprint/lte_310sprint

We have our first Austin LTE confirmation there in Round Rock. Yeehaw! Thanks for uploading it.

If you get a chance to drive around with the Sensorly app running to plot the area, we would be very grateful! Just click "Map Trip" in the lower right hand corner of the main app screen and then hit the start button. Make sure that points start counting up in the 4G section.

Will do when I'm out and about tomorrow (I'm on vacation this week). Was VERY surprised to see the 4G indication from the phone :)

copy and paste this into google maps and zoom in. you can see they were working in the site with a truck in the driveway. i have a hunch this is the tower the LTE came from. 2250 1/2 Park Pl Cir, Round Rock, Williamson, Texas 78681

Would make sense, as I'm just north of there. Although NetMonitor is saying 2409 Mockingbird Dr

NID: 22 BID 2209 -78dBm

1) Netmonitor is telling you the CDMA 1x sector radio you are connected to, which is not necessarily the LTE site.

2) Even for mapping the CDMA towers, the coordinates reported by Netmonitor and similar apps may not be the actual tower site, but rather some distance offset around the tower. See this short primer on that anomaly.

ATX4G's hunches have been fruitful before. Since you are a sponsor, I suggest that you explore S4GRU's Sponsor-level map in that immediate vicinity and look for the precise location of any Sprint towers. (Commenting on those details should be confined to Sponsor-level forums here, not this public Network forum.)

Then explore around any such tower on the ground. Running Netmonitor or CDMA Field Test in conjunction with the S4GRU sponsor map can help you determine if this is the tower where your CDMA 1x connection really is. Then, if you still are getting an LTE signal, you can explore the vicinity with Sensorly to record the LTE connection.

Already looking into the 4.1 sdk to see if there are updated methods in the telephony class to handle LTE tower coordinates. We will see..

Doesn't Sensorly upload automatically when you stop mapping a trip?

When you hit stop, Sensorly puts the data collected in your queue. Depending on your Sensorly upload settings is when it will upload. Because you can have it set up to upload only on WiFi or when using mobile networks.

I've lost data in the past at times when at the moment Sensorly went to upload, my Sprint data was non existent and would lose the batch. So when I am doing a large amount of drive testing, I will send small batches every few minutes. That way if I lose data, I lose a small segment and not a whole afternoon of drive testing.

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
