  1. Well clearly Sprint needed capacity there since everything I've seen stated was that they targeted areas which were high in usage. Supposedly Sprint drove the areas CLWR chose.
  2. Good job on mapping. Nice to see all 3 major cities in Ohio showing some LTE.
  3. The backhaul argument is a good one, that kind of bandwidth must be costly. Also the GMOs won't be cheap either. And of course, this all assumes they have the revenue in the first place that SoftBank intends to use. There is a reason some markets have so many GMO sites though, and its because the justification of spend wasn't there with the other priorities on Sprint's plate.
  4. My last request of Shentel is that they're as hasty with the LTE 800 rollout.
  5. Well, lets think about what 16 billion will buy. NV 1.0 was around 8 bil, correct? All of these base stations can support whatever they have to throw at them. 2500 will require new antennas, RRUs, and carrier cards. Interesting aside, do you think any of the CLWR equipment will be reused? Point being, the 2500mhz rollout shouldn't take too much in terms of capital. Outside of spectrum auctions, the only thing I see taking that much cash is expansion. Edit - something I didn't account for was taking care of GMO sites. Do you believe this funding to be factored into the original NV cost or will this require new investment?
  6. It depends how you interpret this: "If the network isn't good, customers are going to complain, Mr. Son said, adding that Sprint will seek to pull even with Verizon in high-speed coverage in about two years."
  7. Turns out if you want a network that performs well, you need to be in control of its development. I always beleived this had a lot to do with the performance of Shentel vs Sprint
  8. This is my biggest concern/curiousity. Please keep us updated on if they allow you to.
  9. Or they could simply mean for those who already have it.
  10. The way I see it now... I either go for the same price with VZ or AT&T or I go for value with T-Mo.
  11. 4 smartphones on an everything data plan for ~220$/month. I could get 4 smartphones on AT&T for 230$/month before a discount with 6gb.
  12. That's my issue. I don't NEED unlimited. Between the 4 lines I have, we rarely go over 4 gb if ever. I'd be hard pressed to go with Sprint over AT&T or VZ given such a small price disparity. I have to say I have no clue what is going on.
  13. I think saying he wishes to bring everything in house is a bit presumptuous. I'd like if that we're true but I doubt it.
  14. It seems Sprint believes they're part of the "Big 3", when realistically, they are not all that different from T-Mo until 800mhz is widely deployed.
  15. The last is my favorite. Reminds me of my childhood.
  16. Exactly what I took out of this. It seemed pretty obvious he was implying it will take 2.5 years from NOW for Sprint to complete since they consistently "miss deadlines".
  17. Correct but all providers will now be automatically upselling you to unlimited voice just to increase revenue. Most people I know would never have a use for unlimited minutes to a land line.
  18. Yea, there are definitely still towers on legacy backhaul. It's good to see progress, though, regardless.
  19. Very nice. I remember not being able to run Speedtests pretty much anywhere in Allentown.
  20. Depends on the load on the tower. But for that time I see 2mbps pretty regularly on new backhaul. Until LTE is lit up we can't know for sure what backhaul is in place. Realistically though, compared to some of the speeds I used to see around the LV, 400k a sec is wonderful!
  21. If so, there's not much reason left to stay with Sprint.
  22. That is definitely not the ALU approach. Ericsson and Samsung do things much differently, however.
  23. Something along the lines of... Sprint is just throwing money at their problems and I don't see how that will help their network while also discussing AT&T and VZ cap ex. Smart investors indeed!
