  1. Even sadder still. Its a good thing he wasn't on Sprint or he might not have bought the company! Hopefully, he'll get Sprint up to speed and thankfully, Japanese companies seem to give a lot of attention to California so that's going to be great for me.
  2. Most likely he was using Sprint. You get 100 kbps if you are lucky. Sure there are a few towers that go faster but they are few and far between. My friends with AT&T are getting 4Mbps on the iphone 4S. Network vision so far has been a huge joke.
  3. Are there no "sources" in these markets or is this more of a behind schedule situation?
  4. I am very please to see more California cities on the list. As usual, nothing new from Alcatel-Lucent. slow pokes! just kidding.
  5. It looks pretty nice. Thanks for the heads up. I'm still trying to test every part of my hometown and will be moving on to the areas around my work soon.
  6. Well the nationwide part was just a thought. I'm really just concerned about the towers that they had approved in my area but didn't build because they ran out of cash. Selfish me.
  7. Let's all be honest. The only Sprint coverage that matters is the Sprint coverage where you live. If you didn't get wimax and you still don't have LTE, its not like you are going to be jumping for joy that some other area has their first LTE signal. Try T-Mo out for awhile. You can always come back to Sprint when your contract is up and maybe by then they will have some 4G coverage in your area.
  8. It's great news. I hope they combine Sprint and Clearwire and stop this blame game split spectrum nonsense. Finally we might get nationwide Clearwire coverage including all the planned towers that Clearwire was supposed to build in the San Diego market.
  9. Is Sprint and Leap Wireless (Cricket) next?
  10. I know they are talking about adding San Diego!!! ok.. well I hope so. I'm hoping that Clearwire's deal with Leap will benefit Leap's hometown - San Diego.
  11. I just noticed that there is a stray LTE signal on the Sensorly map for Centennial, CO south of Denver. Any 4G users in Denver?
  12. Apple had to do something. Google Maps lack of voice navigation made it impossible to use in heavy traffic conditions. It's not like you can pick up your phone while driving and try and flip between the map and the written directions. Apple maps isn't great but at least now we might get some healthy competition that will lead to some great innovations.
  13. It would really piss me off if they tried to say they have a nationwide 4G network again. They need to wait until they have at least 40-50% of the nation covered and not just the southeast and Atlantic regions.
  14. Hopefully this is an opportunity to use some of T-Mo's sites now that they belong to Crown and Castle. I would imagine that these sites already have upgraded backhaul to support T-Mo's Faux-G network.
  15. Do you think they will also deploy LTE for Leap (Cricket) hot zones or is the initial deployment all about Sprint?
  16. Once again the places that get upgraded last will get screwed. We paid the $10 smart phone fee for years with super slow 100 kbps data speed while others enjoyed wimax. Now the places that get LTE last will probably get a big price hike right when LTE gets to their area. If Sprint raises prices, they should do a phased roll in and raise the prices first in areas that had early LTE implementation. That would be fair to the rest of us. I know it won't happen but it should.
  17. Perhaps the increased speeds on wimax are the direct result of fewer people on wimax phones. Im sure a lot of wimax people already upgraded to LTE phones even if the network isn't up where they live.
  18. I suppose there wont be a September map for San Diego. Can we see the October map for sites scheduled for LTE?
  19. I hate to be the only one that says AT&T but my friends that have AT&T are very happy. Their iphones download at 5 mbps on 3G. This is what Sprint is promising for 4G. I also know that AT&T has a lot of spectrum in San Diego so I'm sure their LTE will be fast like Dallas and not so-so like their Chicago LTE coverage. I also hear great things about Verizon but no one I know has their LTE phones either.
  20. If I get the Sprint version does it work on Verizon? I'd hate to pay full price and end up with a phone that I can't take with me if Sprint flakes on LTE for San Diego. Ok... who am I kidding.. I probably will buy it anyway. Maybe I'll have to go to Chicago to test it out and then fly to Houston on a United 787 and test it out there too.
  21. This is great news! Maybe Sprint isn't full of poop after all. Congratulations to Chicago and Boston. On a side note, Chicago, Boston and Houston are going to be the first US cities with regularly scheduled Boeing 787 service as well! I'd be in nerd heaven if I lived in any of those places.
  22. I've been mapping my area with the RootMetrics app. It's pretty shocking to see how bad Sprint data coverage is. Usually, there is a pretty good signal everywhere but the data speed is ridiculously slow. I'm kind of shocked that she's getting poor reception. Are you talking about dropped phone calls or slow internet connectivity?
  23. Apparently, everything is on schedule and just as planned.
  24. LTE and the iphone 5! Hooray! Finally, some good news from Sprint!
