  1. Doesn't the Huawei equipment need to be torn out and replaced in order to comply with the conditions of the Softbank purchase of Sprint? How soon does that need to happen?
  2. So if you look at the division of the country you will see that Alcatel really is responsible for two regions in the country. This is equivalent to 54% of the top 20 markets. Ericsson is responsible for 25% and Samsung for 21% of the top 20 markets. So Alcatel is upgrading half of the population. They should have twice as many sites completed as the other vendors. For the top 100 markets alcatel has 44%, Samsung and Ericsson have about 27% each.
  3. I hope alcaltel-lucent is locked out of the next round of network upgrades. They are moving at a snails pace in their deployments compared to Samsung and Ericsson. Hopefully, Nokia will buy them out.
  4. That would be awesome. I want one.
  5. Maybe the ipads will support Band 41.
  6. It really just depends on which market you live in. Some places will have tri-band coverage right away (like Chicago) and other markets (like San Diego) won't have 800 MHz because of the IBEZ nor will they have 2500 MHz because of inadequate infrastructure. Sprint needs more sites for a full scale 2500 MHz deployment. Son is correct when he says it will take YEARS to get Sprint up to speed. (IMO)
  7. Last time I was in my local Sprint corporate store, they didn't have LTE and the WiFi supplied by Sprint was so bad that they were walking outside to activate phones on the free wifi from Starbucks down the block.
  8. It will take longer in a market like San Diego because they will need additional cell sites to do an adequate 2600 overlay. They will need to get permits, run fiber, etc. 2600 on existing sites will not provide enough coverage to make it an appealing user experience. Additionally, Clear did not have enough protection sites here to make a difference. I stand by my statement that it will take longer to cover San Diego in 2600 than 1900.
  9. We probably won't have band 41 in Most of San Diego for a few years. I have less than a month left on my iPhone 4S contract and LTE is still pretty scarce in this area. I imagine the band 41 buildout will take as long or longer than the LTE 1900.
  10. Is this number on top of the layoffs from the US Cellular purchase? There were over 600 laid off in Chicago alone.

  12. And all of this happening as we enter the final two weeks of Clearwire's much ballyhooed TD-LTE launch "coming the first half of 2013" tsk tsk tsk
  13. I'm near Temple Heights and Oceanside Blvd. Just north of Temple Heights Elementary. Also, walking distance to the Oceanside Ale Works.
  14. This mainly works for San Diego. I went and did a quick cross reference with central jersey and it didn't work there. I did notice that a tower near my house got 2 speed upgrades yesterday and tonight I have LTE in my house for the first time.
  15. If you see 2 or more "data speed upgrades" on a cell tower at network.sprint.com, it will also show up as a completed site on the NV site complete map on S4GRU. This has pretty much been the case for all of the towers in my area.
  16. TMo had the fastest 3G in San Diego so I can't wait to see how fast their LTE will be. Also, they will have access to the MetroPCS spectrum that was never used in the San Diego market.
  17. Maybe Softbank will make a cash offer for Clearwire to make Sprint less palatable for Dish.
  18. You can check network.sprint.com for updates on the 3G improvements. If your area has less than 100 upgrades listed there then its pretty reasonable to say that LTE is not in your near future. When that site shows over 150 upgrades then you will probably start to see LTE popping up as well. Currently Sacramento is only showing 77 upgrades.
  19. There was so much talk of it being mainly a software upgrade that it seems like they should be on track.
  20. Well hopefully they will approve 800 for nationwide roll out. I won't believe it til I see it. Supposedly the light squared deal was going to get approved but the government has a way of changing its mind.
  21. My friends are consistently getting 40 Mbps download times on AT&T and I'm getting excited when the LTE icon comes on my ipad. Only time will tell if it was worth the wait. Until the LTE 800 is running it will be hard to make a fair assessment.

  23. Sorry to hear about your plumbing. As I have long suspected, it's a lot easier to be patient when you are in an LTE area (like me!).
  24. I'm getting an LTE signal indoors at my work. I'm right on the edge of the coverage area at El Camino Real and College Blvd in Carlsbad, CA 92008.
