  1. thanks all, i was initially recommending it because of the stellar RF reception it has, but wanted to make sure it wasn't going to be overly complicated for them to use too
  2. its hard to tell you for sure what the issue is. ever since they got the towers switched over to the NV equipment mid december all call dropping issues myself, and everyone i know, has gone away. my brother and his wife were in the same boat, call dropping during the upgrades was driving them nuts and they were ready to switch. but now they have had no issues. however ankeny is one of those towns that has outgrown the original sprint network. it could also be she is having issues with her phone. one way to test that is for you yourself to make calls in the house walking around and see if they drop on you too. does she have issues when she is out and about? or just at home? i have the EVO LTE and i don't have call dropping issues. assuming its not her phone, i would call sprint and get a free airave from retention's. i have 2 on my account, one at my in laws on the far west side of ankeny, and another at my sibling-in-laws in huxley. ever since we installed them they have had no issues. of course you could always switch carriers too, if sprint doesn't work for you no sense staying with them.
  3. So I know this phone is very popular with the technically inclined crowd. But how about those that are less technical? Would this be the best tri-band phone to recommend to family and friends?
  4. they way it was explained to me was that it will show the $55 per line but then when you get your bill each line will have a credit on it that would make it go down to whatever pricing for the number of lines you have. so at the max you would see a $30 credit to bring you to the $25 per line.
  5. also, for right now, there is only one tower with LTE live covering downtown. so speeds will be slow no matter your signal strength until more come online to help share the load
  6. hello and welcome! assuming your phone you have listed in your profile is correct (and its not the nexus 5) that would be your answer. the older nexus is notorious for reporting invalid LTE connections, or reporting them at full strength (to third party apps) when they aren't.
  7. hey, do you mind sharing what the closest intersection you were at when you took these screens? i'm trying to figure out what tower this is coming from because serving cell 11 doesn't fit our pattern we have going in the spreadsheet. i have a guess as to what tower it is but need your location to help narrow it down, thanks!
  8. i don't have the direct link, but it was posted and discussed in the Framily plan thread.
  9. Thanks, from the dialer can you type in ##33284# Then when it asks for a password enter 777468 then go to the lte engineering screen and post a screenshot showing the serving cell? That will tell us if its new or not, thanks!
  10. signalcheck will not tell you where your LTE is coming from, you need to use the GCI or PCI that signal check shows you to compare to the spreadsheet to see where LTE is coming from. and there is only 1 LTE tower live downtown right now. there are hundreds of people sharing 37mbps of bandwidth. its going to be slow until all of the towers downtown are live to share the load.
  11. i think he was meaning use QoS on their WiFi at home so that the other activities listed don't bog down the WiFi so much that he feels the need to use LTE at home.
  12. don't forget to factor in (or not) the rumor, that is most likely true, about phone subsidies going away in 90 days or less. no phone subsidy = no upgrade.
  13. So with that text that went out about the network upgrade being complete in your area within a month there was a link I didnt pay attention to until one of my family members asked me about it. The link was sprint.us/upgrade1 if you click on it it takes you to a page that mentions being able to get a new phone with easy pay but it says its valid through 2\28. Is it safe to assume this is the end date for the deal that was posted about in this thread about being 6+ months from your last upgrade and being able to get a new phone through easy pay and not having to turn in your old phone?
  14. yes sorry! didn't mean to imply that, was just meaning that it can't be done online, only in a store
  15. when a tower is first accepted there are sometimes issues with data on it for a day or two. also being that one covers downtown and its the only one right now its probably serving a ton more people than it will once the other towers around it come online.
  16. 7 new 4G towers accepted last night, locations are in the sponsor thread in my sig

    LG G Flex LS995

i'm very interested in this one. i'm wanting a phone with a bigger screen and was interested in the One Max, but going to wait and see what this one is like since it comes out soon. hopefully its RF reception is on par with the G2 or even the N5!
  18. did a little more signal strength comparison while i was at the store yesterday getting switched over to framily. I was comparing my EVO 4G LTE next to each phone, but could not compare the different phones directly next to each other as they were obviously tied down and some were on opposite ends of the store. The two main ones i was interested in where the One Max and the Galaxy Mega. When comparing signal strength with signalcheck up on both phones and with them sitting next to each other, my phone was hovering around -89 to -90 db. The One Max was hovering around -84 to -85 db. so about a 4 to 5 db increase there. when compared to the galaxy mega again my phone had around a -89 db signal, the mega was at -82 db, so about 7 db better. with a tower sitting directly behind the store and the signals being so strong i know that may not translate when dealing with weaker signals of -110 or higher, but it was at least good to see that the one max was at least better and not exactly the same. right now i'm going to wait for the LF G Flex to come out and see what its like. hopefully being made by LG will mean it has RF reception on par with the G2 and N5. then i will probably choose between that or the One Max
  19. just an FYI for anyone else. the amount listed per line on your account won't change (maybe after the 2 months it will, i have no idea) from the $55 with this "glitch" where you have to have them manually set the discount. instead it will show up on your bill as a $30 credit per line. if that was stated before i didn't catch it, and if not here it is in case anyone else is wondering.
  20. just got back from getting my 9 lines switched over! everything went as expected, $15/mo fee waived, lines came up as $55/mo initially but asked the sales person to contact support and they got it changed to the $25/line. just logged into my account and it still shows as $55/line but i'm guessing it will take a little while for that to update so i will monitor that. they had to call to get me approved for an extra line to get the free tab 3 deal since i have 9 phone lines and 2 airaves on my account already. also they said there isn't an end date yet for lines that were 6+ months from their last upgrade being able to get a new device on easy pay and not have to turn in their device. i asked if someone waited for the S5, for example, and the deal ended before that phone came out what their option would be. He said they could still get a new phone on easy pay they would just have to turn in their old device instead of being able to keep it.
  21. i will be interested to see if that applies to lines not on the same account or if it matters. i have 9 lines on my account and will switch all 9 lines to framily and they will still be under the same account. wonder if it will still take 2 billing cycles for that scenario too.
