    Insurance

thanks for the replies! so it looks like minus the lost/stolen part of TEP squaretrade is a better value.... for two years and assuming one incident TEP would cost $414 and squaretrade would cost $224. so unless i'm missing something that is or isn't covered between the two in the fine print i will probably switch to squaretrade. now for the iphone, this one looks a little more even as neither option covers lost/stolen. apple care covers up to two incidents, is $99 for two years and $49 per incident. squaretrade has a 3 year option for $124 (2 year for $94) and a $50 deductible and covers up to 4 repairs. so on the surface it looks like squaretrade is better again, thoughts?

    Insurance

Morning everyone! just wanted to get some opinions of what other insurance options for insuring your phone are out there and if they would be better then sprints TEP. I have an EVO 4G LTE and as soon as it comes in an iphone 5 that i would be looking for insurance for. Or is apple care for the iphone and TEP for the evo the best options? Thanks!
  3. freaking stock market, sprint is going down cause they aren't buying them, yet if they had been the ones that were they would have still been going down cause they would be spending money to do it.....

    Sad Sad Day

and the silver lining to all this was that my new phone actually came with hboot 1.12 so i am now S-off
  5. hi, i'm also from the des moines area i just upgraded to the EVO 4G LTE from the original EVO and this phone is awesome! i wouldn't let what the network will be when its done hinder you from getting what you want now. if you upgrade now you will be due for another one in 20 months which will probably be just when sprint is getting done with LTE 800 and then it will be ready for you and your upgrade. however, there are 3 4G wimax protection sites in the des moines area, depending on where you live you might pickup a signal from them you can be using in the meantime, also if you travel to any 4G wimax markets you will be be able to take advantage of 4G there as well. so really you can't go wrong either way

lol no its not, just the way the light and flash from the camera reflected. and all is well again! talked one of my family members into letting me use their upgrade, then sprint also gave me $51 for the broken one, so between the upgrade and buyback it cost me as much as it would have if i did have insurance! and yes my new one does have insurance now one question though, the sales person asked me if i wanted a case, like an otterbox, i asked him if he thought that would have prevented the phone bending like that.... he said yes.... i have a hard time believing that.... anyone have experience with cases? would it really have protected it like he claimed? and if so any recommendations?

anyone have a spare evo 4g lte they want to sell??????? tonight mine fell out of my pocket inbetween the couch cushions, went to put the feet of the couch up so i could get it out from underneath and heard a nice loud CRUNCH...... yeah totally bent my phone and shattered everything on it...... and i didn't get insurance cause i didn't think i would need it.... don't know what i'm going to do now
  10. that website is for the "band-aid" fixes, its not related to network vision.
  11. AJ i bet that is it, thanks! and i'm guessing that the original EVO didn't have this issue as much since it didn't have two antennas for SVDO, so whenever CDMA switched then EVDO switched? and don't worry, was in an area with no traffic and no pedestrians, was on a mile long bridge going across a lake
  12. hmmmmmm when i was watching it while driving this morning i wasn't actively using data, unless something was going on in the background. Was just watching the signal numbers between CDMA and EVDO waiting for EVDO to switch over to the tower that CDMA was connected too. I will watch for that though and see if thats the case. thanks!
  13. good morning everyone! so i got a new EVO 4G LTE last week and so far have been loving it, huge improvement over the original EVO that i had before! However i have been noticing a small issue with the 3G connection. Using the CDMA field test app to look at the signal strengths of both CDMA and EVDO i can tell for the most part that both voice and data are either connected to the same tower or not. What i have noticed is that when i'm driving or going form one area to another voice will quickly switch to a new tower when the signal gets to low from the tower it was connected to, however 3G seems to stay connected to the previous tower until it doesn't have signal anymore. i've seen it get as low as -118db for signal strength and then it finally loses connection. Then when it does lose connection to the old tower it seems like it takes a little bit to finally connect to the tower that is closer. and if it happens to pickup a signal from the old tower before it switches to the new it will connect back to that one again! Has anyone else noticed this on their phones? I have another week for my 14 days and i'm just trying to figure out if its just how the phone is or if mine is having an issue and i need to go exchange it. Thanks! PS i'm in a third round market so no 4G for me for awhile
  14. yeah, i will do that, just figuring out what that amount is without being greedy but not screwing myself over either if it jumps over it..... i hate the stock market, as soon as these sprint shares are gone i'm done with it
  15. don't get me wrong, increased data speeds will be the best benefit for me! but most of my family lives or routinely travels through areas that are covered by sprint but have issues with dropped calls cause some spots the towers are too far apart to hand off correctly, or work in buildings that eat signal for breakfast. so their biggest complaints with sprint is with that, not really data speeds. so if they want/get iPhones and don't get that benefit then NV means nothing to them.
  16. lol, amen to that i really hope it does, have 9 lines on my account and a good chunk of them want iPhones, would be a shame if they miss out on one of the biggest improvements of NV
  17. i have 633 shares :-/ i will most likely hold onto them to see how high it goes, but the moment it starts falling back down, SELL SELL SELL! just glad that i will at the least have a chance of getting my money back, instead of taking the huge loss it would have been when they hit $2.10
  18. $5.32/share right now, almost to the $5.45 i bought it at a year ago may! now do i sell and just get my money back or wait and see if it goes higher and actually make some....
  19. what about CDMA in the 800 Mhz range? anyone have any ideas on if the iPhone 5 will support that?
  20. fair enough, it doesn't take much though, about 2 hours to get my WHS system up and going and haven't touched it since, been running for a good 2 months now 24/7. had WHS v1 before that, it ran for almost 2 years with no issues.
  21. build a WHS 2011 box and get the stablebit drivepool add-on. thats what i run and love it, holds all my media that i stream to all my devices in my house, backs up my computers with an easy to use restore function, and has redundancy for data with the drivepool add-on. plus the computer itself doesn't need to be anything beefy, a cheap dual core 64-bit CPU, couple gigs of RAM, and at least a 160gig HDD for the install drive. then you can use as many as you want of any size of HDD for storage.
  22. thanks for the replies, i guess what was most confusing is that they were showing 100% accurate initially, now all of the sudden none of them are correct. Is that something sprint routinely updates on the towers? and why would they put the wrong information in them to broadcast?
  23. has anyone that uses CDMA field test or netmonitor apps noticed that recently they are showing incorrect tower locations? I've been using CDMA field test for awhile now and was able to go around to several of the locations that it said there were towers and verify that there were in fact towers there. Recently i was showing it to someone else and when i did the map tower location on a tower i had previously verified it showed its locations somewhere else, always in places where towers of any kind don't even exist. didn't know if it was something with the app or on sprints end or what.
