  1. Google upgraded the radio baseband multiple times, and have made it more difficult to latch onto Band 41 to minimize issues with CSFB (more info here http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-357-nexus-5-and-lg-g2-experience-temporary-sprint-lte-connectivity-issues-due-to-circuit-switched-fallback-technology/) But NYC has been mostly fixed, so going back to an older baseband with better band 41 support does wonders!
  2. Do you have issues with Voice? -100dBm is considered usable for voice, but at the edge of coverage. Regardless, I highly recommend the Nexus 5, especially with the .15 radio installed. You will freely pickup Band 41 and get crazy speeds! on top of the 1x800.
  3. 1x800 should only appear when needed. The nexus 5 does choose 1x800 over 1900 most of the time. But, unless your having issues with 1900, it shouldn't make much difference.
  4. Band 41 in journal sq, Nexus 5 latched on automatically using .15 radio. Looks like upgraded backhaul, speeds were btwn 30-60mb/sec.
  5. I really believe Band 41 is going to be the key for Sprint to make this network shine! (spark pun not intended) Took a late lunch around 1:30 this afternoon in Herald square 34th st, a TON of people out at that time, automatically connected to Band 41 using .15 radio on Nexus 5 (BTW this radio works WONDERS! seems all eCSFB issues are resolved) I was averaging 15-25mb sec, while my colleague on ATT was barely getting 1mb. I have noticed a massive decline of speeds on ATT in NYC, along with Sprint's own B25 as well in midtown. Hopefully by the time we have prevalent B26 there will be enough Tri band phone users out there to balance the load.
  6. Single band phones are able to do both simultaneously. Tri-band phones use a more efficient way of managing the radio and dramatically increasing battery life at the expense of Voice and Data at the same time. People use phones to make calls less and less every day, so this might seem like a downer. But in the end, less expensive more power efficient devices wins.
  7. Just doing a PRL update while near a B41 site. The key seems to be not having any B25 signal at all or worse than -100dBm in order for it to latch onto B41, and once that happens it will handoff to other B41 sites without having to redo the PRL update until you fallback to B25. Also, im running on the latest radio, so nothing particularly special there (I prefer the quicker fallback to 3G due to overburdened B25 sites)
  8. Had a meeting in Williamsburg BK, B25 was hammered, but trusty B41 was available, speeds were between 25-35mb down...Loving B41!
  9. Gotcha, I have a nagging suspicion that the release of the iphone 5S and C and people moving from the iphone 4 and 4s are the major culprit for the massive decline of LTE speeds in metropolitan areas. In midtown Manhattan B25 becomes unusable at certain times of the day.
  10. This is only my assumption from what I've read around the forum, maybe someone can chime in with specifics on the current state of the iphone PRL cough cough...Digiblur
  11. It all seem to go downhill after the release of the new Iphone. Maybe Apple prioritizing the iphone PRL with B26 will help relieve some of B25 stress.
  12. Clocked my highest speed in lower Manhattan, 9th street and University Place.
  13. I don't understand why you would say that considering you are a Sponsor and can see the maps. LI has gotten updates on a regular basis from the day the first site was installed.
  14. yup, nice to see good speeds there, my buddy on ATT was getting pretty crappy speeds and barely any LTE.
  15. Connected to B41 in cross county mall in yonkers, speeds were between 10-20mb sec. Looks like older backhaul.
  16. Areas not designated with the "Turbo" moniker are running on older backhaul limiting max throughput. I find older backhaul sites are limited to about 20mb/sec vs newer sites which I've seen go over 60mb/sec. But do take the sprint coverage maps with a grain of salt...not terribly accurate.
  17. My Girlfriend was none too happy me making her look around for a Clear antenna in the cold. But she did go along with it for about 10 seconds...
  18. I walked up and down between 9th ave and 7th ave on 42nd street and held a decent connection ranging from -77dBm to -99dBm even indoors at a restaurant. But the second I turned the corner on 7th ave heading north, it was gone.
  19. For now it looks like sprint is going with 41-25-26, it does make sense, since 26 should be the last stop when signal is not strong enough on 25. But I could see where having 26 first before 25 would make sense in overpopulated areas.
  20. Good to hear and welcome....just cant see the pic, Its pointing to a local folder on your android device.
  21. I do find it odd that when the backhaul isnt upgraded, that the upload performance is almost always well past the download performance.
