  1. Yeah, lte performance is simply ridiculous on the N5, this alone will make it extremely difficult for me to get rid of mines any time soon.
  2. Well due to the lte rf beast that my nexus 5 is, that isn't going anywhere anytime soon so while I test this One Max out I guess I will put my regular One on vacation for a few.
  3. Damn it................. LMAO!!!!!!!!! Yeah, I ran as fast as I possibly could, head first, right into that one.
  4. Glad you are digging the One Max. Fortunately I will be getting one sometime next week to test for a few weeks, couldn't pass up the opportunity. I am a little nervous because its so big but I am sure I will get use to it.
  5. They both have the same s600 but the one in the s4 was clocked at 1.9 to the One's 1.7 which really didn't make a difference being that the one smoked the s4 out of the box when it came to responsiveness.
  6. I have heard good things about those tempered glass screen protectors but personally I think that $25 for any screen protector is too much. Its funny though, I won't spend no more than $5 to $10 on a screen protector or case but have no problem dropping $600 to $700 on a phone, LOL.
  7. I am not a fan of screen protectors either because all of them feels weird against my finger tips but gorilla glass or not, it really doesn't take much to scratch the screen. Every day items like keys coins or whatever random items you may have in your pocket won't scratch your screen. The number one culprit 99% of the time is some sort of sand/salica(it's everywhere) which will cut through any type of smartphone screen, gorilla glass or not, like a hot knife through butter. So even though I can't stand screen protectors I now use them all the time.
  8. No issues sending mms but at the same time I disabled hangouts and use a third party messaging app(textra). I think most other have switched to third party apps as well.
  9. Sensorly data is not being populated for the Virgin Islands market. Data points show up for Puerto Rico but nothing for the Virgin Islands.
  10. They won't charge until its shipped. So if the charge is on your card then it either shipped already or needs to just get picked up by ups so it can get shipped. So worse case scenario I would say you might get it on tuesday, maybe wednesday. If not then......my bad, LOL.
  11. Well to be honest, when it comes to browsing websites latency will probably have more of an effect. Also, we aren't even sure if they were actually connected to band 41.
  12. But you also have to keep in mind that what you may read on paper may not necessarily translate to problems in the real world. If you really like the One Max or any other device then go and try it out yourself and see how it performs.
  13. Of course it is, its just a matter of getting your sim unlocked and determining what frequencies the network you want to use it on will support.
  14. The tower overlooking cahs is the one servicing that general area. If you really want lte coverage do yourself a favor and get a nexus 5. I love my one and still prefer it over my nexus but just like you my one will only get 4g by the window and its hit or miss anywhere else in the house where as my nexus get lte everywhere in the house effortlessly.
  15. Actually my coverage is pretty damn good since I been using the nexus 5. I still prefer my one but the nexus give me the additional coverage I didn't think was even possible. As far as those techs though, not sure what they mean but hull bay and smith bay doesn't have their own towers. Smith bay gets service from the redhook tower and the tabour and harmony tower(this is the tower with on the country side with lte) on top of cassi hill.
  16. Honestly, I don't think the aluminum had anything to do with rf performance. The evo didn't have rf issues when connected to 1x or 3g, only with lte. Same goes for the One, it does very well with 1x and 3g, just as good as my n5 but gets owned when it comes to lte.
  17. This is one hell of an article and this is why I support s4gru. Thank you Robert.
  18. This is something I have noticed with ips screens in general.
  19. Saw more guys working on the tower over at the entrance to wynberg again today, I hope that tower comes online soon.
  20. More than likely the brightness was turned up all the way, I noticed this myself when I first got the phone. I have my brightness at about 25 percent and it looks a lot better and is still very much usable in direct sunlight. With that being said though, I still think the screen on the One is still the best on the market.
  21. Yeah, I stopped using chomp/gosms/handcent (handcent was my favorite) because of all the added useless crap that came with it. Been using textra for the last couple of weeks and I love it so far.
