  1. Understandable now. There are a couple of sites in that area that need to be upgraded to fill in the pockets actually. I'm not unhappy with 11 Mbps at all. Working with 10 other coworkers that have Verizon and AT&T, they use to throw out how Sprint isnt all this and that, but have been complaining a lot these last couple months about their services and data suck so bad in the area, unlike the great coverage I'm getting. One tried showing me a HD YouTube video last Friday on a Verizon LTE. It took forever to load, and when it did, it was choppy, buffering, and overall quality was horrible. I broke out mine, and got a compliment about how crisp, clear, and smooth mine was.
  2. Will speeds eventually go up again with one band, or this is pretty much it? Speaking of speeds, I walked 2 blocks down from where I work during lunch today. Did a speed test, and got 25.09 down/5.39 up. I walked another 2 blocks from that, did another speed test, and got 11.03 down/6.93 up. What's causing the differences?
  3. Download speeds has slowed down tremendously in many places of North County since middle January. Areas that had consistent download speed averages of 20-25+ Mbps in last 5 1/2 months or so in 2013, is now averaging anywhere between 5-13 Mbps. When I reported 20+ Mbps speeds from work over in Encinitas during that time, the average now varies from 6-12 Mbps connected to the same towers in the area.
  4. Seems like upgrades has slowed down a lot in San Diego.
  5. I came across this article yesterday. Was anyone here a "brick" owner back in the day? Lol. http://mashable.com/2014/03/13/first-cellphone-on-sale/
  6. I got the update Wed morning. I had a couple of missing apps, and about 3 weren't working. I did a couple of restarts, and finally took the battery out that worked. Other than that, does anyone know how to get rid of the text and missed call notifications that appear on the lockscreen? I had Lockscreen Policy app with 4.3 that prevented that. It doesn't work with 4.4 after many attempts. Same goes for unchecking preview messages option in notification settings. I replaced my lockscreen with Chronus hoping that would resolve the issue, but for some odd reason, when I receive a text or call, my lockscreen defaults back to it's factory lockscreen clock setting. Is there a way to fix this? https://www.dropbox.com/sh/j9lve7s3gdenb1u/4ro8Cw5u1A
  7. Gotcha. I was confused myself. For those of you with the tri-band, who had the single band S4, hows your experience so far? I've read the phone is useless if you're not in a market that has all 3 bands.
  8. How come Sprint reps over the phone are saying the single band S4 is Spark compatible? I called Sprint last weekend to renew my discount. I asked about Spark, and the "T" model S4. The rep said my single band is Spark capable. I said no it isn't. I mentioned the tri-band S4, and the rep had no clue what I was talking about. If you go on the Sprint website, there's an S4 on sale for $49.99, and looking at the specs, it shows Spark. Is that the tri-band S4 on sale, or is that the single band S4? I think 1 or 2 members on here, and many on Sprint forums ordered, and was upset the didn't get the tri-band S4.
  9. Lots of EV-DO Rev A all around North County early this morning, especially Oceanside and Encinitas where I live and work. Certain spots on Leucadia Blvd/El Camino Real was only 1x.
  10. Just about all of Jacksonville was LTE lit, when I was in the area during the holidays. Big time difference since I was last there in 2006.
  11. I live less than a mile from a site, and noticed 3G and 1x switching back and forth this morning in North San Diego.
  12. Thanks for the explanation. I was wondering why I had way low download speeds vs upload these past 3 days.
  13. I posted the before pic of this site somewhere here last Summer (3rd pic in link), and the after (2nd pic) in which I finally took a pic of today. I pass by it a couple of times during the week in my area. There is a Sprint site across the street from it also mounted on a light post from it (2nd pic) you can see in a distance. I was wondering who does this equipment belong to? https://www.dropbox.com/sh/c26935ii1qyto4s/JQ1Up7V_ii
  14. The Sprint site I connect to is the Frogs Gym off of El Camino Real/Garden view. Today I noticed new equipment being installed on top of the backside of the building, which is causing what I mentioned above.
  15. Went to Walmart on the 76 and College Blvd, where LTE is live and complete just recently. Did a speed test and got 26.16 up and 6.46 down. Excellent service inside the store with voice and data, when i use to be dead slow and ssometimes useless before LTE. 3G data and voice up and down Douglas Dr to Vandergrift is better than ever. 2 sites on base that's close to the back gate is looking promising!
  16. I was out that way a couple of times during the holidays. Great voice, data, and blazing speeds.
  17. I've seen a ton of ATT techs all over Oceanside almost daily since the beginning of December in boxes. They are heavily in my area of Oceanside (Douglas Dr/N. River) from early morning to late night at times. As i mentioned, I had 2 days of no service at home, and there are 2 Sprint sites very close by to these neighborhoods ATT is upgrading Uverse cabinets. It seems like Uverse cabinets are at every other block, and intersection.
  18. I was in La Jolla (Eastgate) most of the morning and afternoon for a meeting last Saturday. Voice was a little spotty, and data was terrible.
  19. Thanks jsage for that info! I see it's a good chunk of San Diego. Last week I didn't have service at home for 2 days. I called Sprint regarding the issue, placed a ticket, and 2 days later Sprint Zone confirmed tower issues. What's really messed up is that they only gave me a $10 credit. Are they getting stingy these days? What happen to those $20 and $25 credits for not having a couple days of service????? Until the issue is fixed, I'll be on 3G for the time being. I'm very happy to finally have great consistent 3G data speeds at home finally, since last week's issues. The best ever honestly. Upgrades must be around the corner. Voice still isn't that great now.
  20. I've been getting horrible data, and voice at work in Encinitas for a week and half now. Use to have excellent LTE signals for a few months that was ranging from -83 dBm to -90dBm. Also had excellent. Now it's in the high 100s, switches from poor LTE to spotty to poor 3G. I've been having many dropped calls, and no data at times. What's even more interesting, I get LTE inside the back of buliding, and 3G in the front office inside the building. When I go outside of the building to the parking lot, extremely poor 3G at times. Must be tuning up in the area?
  21. Interesting about job cuts, when I've seen 2 new vacant Sprint stores in my area that plan on opening soon.
  22. Lol, calm down guys! I know all about the Nexus 7, and have a Nexus 7 I bought last month. See below. All I wanted to know if those tablets at Big Lots were any good to purchase, because I see people buying them here and there. My question probably sounded like I was going to get one from Big Lots for myself. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/5195-nexus-7-2013-keeps-crashing/
  23. I've been wondering this for the longest. Are the Android Tablets sold at Big Lots any good, and worth buying? Every Big Lots store has tablets. I went to a local Big Lots today to pick up a few things. I went over to the electronics section and seen a few different tablets that had for sale in the price range of $59-$99. They had many 7" tablets. Below are the ones I seen. Are any of these worth purchasing? Polaroid 7" 4.0 Android Model: PM1706th Emerson 7" 4.1 Android Model: EM744 Proscan 7" 4.1 Android Model: PLT7044K Proscan 8" 4.1 Android Model: PLT8816K Crystal View 7" Netbook 4.1 Android Netbook 7" 4.0 Android (not sure what model)
  24. I had a 2 1/2 hr layover at ATL International Monday. Picked up LTE in the airport with dBm signals ranging from -94 to -104, along with constant switching to 3G. For some odd reason, data wasn't working the entire time. The only thing I could do was make calls, and text. I went to many different areas, and concourses in the airport to see if I log onto the internet. Finally I call Sprint. They asked if I updated system, profile, reset, take battery out, etc. I was then transferred to a tech. He asked the same questions. Next thing he tells me, it could be a tower down in the area. He looks at the system he's on, and told me there are lack of towers in the area, and the network may also be communicating with the planes.
