  1. Great price on the iPad pro 128 GB wifi.. @ $949. Going after Surface's pricing there. I expected the basic model to be ~$1000
  2. I think Apple will add a larger Ipad with stylus. Reason? There is a large demand for a device like this from artists who currently use rather expensive wacom tablets/other tablets. Also the word of the day today is Stylus.
  3. Nope. You can also do Applecare or in my case I pay my Sprint bill with a credit card that has an electronic replacement policy.
  4. I think ultimately what killed Sprintusers is manual account authorization. When I made an account there to crosspost the pricing spreadsheet it took.. TWO WEEKS AND 3 EMAILS TO THE ADMIN to get my account activated. What a shit-show.
  5. http://www.anandtech.com/show/7925/qualcomms-snapdragon-808810-20nm-highend-64bit-socs-with-lte-category-67-support-in-2015 So it looks like hardware wise it is possible (at the cost of an additional transceiver) on both the 808 and 810 but someone more in tune with hardware in this area than me might have a better answer as to why or why not it is likely. As far as I know only some places (South Korea) have deployed 3x CA. My RF experience is @5.7-MMW so this isn't something I actively follow. Hopefully someone else can chime in about 3x CA plans that they know of.
  6. Oh and as an aside I almost don't need SignalCheck Pro to tell the difference between Clearwire B41 and Sprint B41. 100ms ping or higher = Clearwire tower almost every single time (at least in the Austin market)
  7. Reviews are in: http://www.theverge.com/2015/9/2/9248101/new-motorola-moto-x-review-2015-pure-edition http://www.engadget.com/2015/09/02/moto-x-pure-edition-review/ http://reviews.gizmodo.com/moto-x-pure-edition-review-this-phone-does-android-bet-1728270123
  8. http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-nexus-5x-release-price-leak-639306/ So, same price as the Moto X Pure with a smaller size. Pros for the Nexus 5x: fingerprint reader, possibly better battery, USB-C, wireless charging Cons for the Nexus 5x: No expandable storage, Possibly worse Camera, lower resolution screen This will be a hard choice. I will wait for the reviews for the Nexus 5x to come out but the early reviews for the Moto seem quite positive. $400 feels like too much for 16GB with no expandable storage. I was hoping to spend around $400 for the 32 GB model..
  9. I am 100% certain this is just an error on the Sprint website. Both my bill and the "my sprint->account" call it 2GB per line promo. I've also asked both chat and phone reps and they confirmed it is a display bug on the website and the correct amount is stated on the bills.
  10. To answer this: The true amount of data remains 20 GB + the 2 GB per line promo. Your actual bill will state the correct amount and the Sprint website for some reason still shows 40 GB for some people (myself included) Edit: just did Sprint chat and called in: Megan: Thank you for your patience, I'll have the information shortly. Megan: From what I see, there is no set end date unless a plan change is done.
  11. It will be a tough choice between this phone and the new Nexus 5. I like the better camera and battery. For me it will come down to the cost of a 32GB n5 vs 32GB Moto X
  12. The issue is one of market perception: Even SAMSUNG has problems with people who try and compare Snapdragon vs exynos chips, etc. I hate to say it but if HTC wants to bring itself back into revelancy it has to make a comparably great device to the current flagships and it has a smallish window before the SD820 are put into the next gen phones to capitalize on perceived quality before being relegated to being considered "past gen" Edit: What'd be amazing is if HTC released a stock android phone with great build quality and some of the features the next Nexus 5 will not have like SD card slot, better camera. Wishful thinking because they will slap some HTC carousel weirdness onto the phone but one can always hope, right?
  13. Agreed. To echo a reddit user here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/3j857c/rumor_htc_to_announce_new_phone_on_sept_6th/
  14. http://www.gforgames.com/gadgets/htc-new-smartphone-6-september-48571/ http://pocketnow.com/2015/09/01/htc-one-a9-launch This is shaping up to be an exciting month. My last HTC phone was my Evo 3D which despite the gimmicky camera was a pretty great phone for me at the time.
  15. First they came for the Abusers, Hackers and VPN users, and I did not speak out— Because I was not an Abuser, Hacker or VPN user. Then they came for the 100GB+ Users, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a 100GB+ User. Then they came to prioritize traffic for people using 20GB, and I did not speak out— Because I was not using 20GB each month. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
  16. Geez, I thought the warnings would go out weeks/months from now. Yes, this is similar to the problem my friends had and actually a dispute my company had with AT&T. VPNs were giving what we considered false positives of tethering but we require VPNs for a LOT of our network use on phones so the very real data usage was being masked and therefore popping up on whatever stupid system they use to try and detect this. AT&T backed down because we are owned by a fairly large corporation but I just chatted with one of our IT guys about this over lunch. Talk about topical.
  17. I think it is more likely they will use this line of thought to target "network abusers" with no published scale of what level of usage "abuse" is. I expect they will accuse people who use over XX-XXXGB/mo of illegal tethering/APN editing and shut down their service or demand they use less. I had friends on AT&T unlimited go through the same deal and I wouldn't be very surprised if we see posts on howard forums and elsewhere in the not too distant future going "I received a warning from T-Mobile for using too much data, HALP!?"
  18. Found via reddit: Leaked case shows the camera hump is real https://twitter.com/stagueve/status/638573697784266752 Still no other info about this phone
  19. It all depends on what you watch, really. Watching certain things like Twitch.tv or HBOGo streaming are not nearly as efficient as Netflix is. Even watching very high quality Youtube videos can draw a ton of data. My home internet can use a terabyte between my wife and I. Twitch.tv seems to be the worst offender based on what I have seen. Watching for 1 hour a day can easily pull multiple gigs if I watch a tournament with 2 streams for example. I also pulled over almost 2 TB when I had to reinstall my steam library./edit: This is even easier as my home computer supports 4k resolution streaming. To get above 1 TB I would somewhat agree with anyone who says that you need to be torrenting or running a server even a PLEX for family churns data fast. The exception would be a college house where among 5 guys we easily hit 2 TB even years ago.
  20. Maybe the rumored larger HUAIWEIEIEI phone will have SD support?
  21. So my only question here is: If the worst offender is the 2 TB guy (who obviously is a total asshole) what are the other 3000 offenders at? 1.5 TB? 1 TB? 500 GB? What is the metric they are using here? We saw the same idea out of AT&T and a lot of people I would consider not "abusers" @40-100 GB+ got caught up in throttling and stuff. If people are breaking the TOS by spoofing tethering traffic, etc then why bother even making this bombastic press release decrying hackers and data abusers? Just kick them off and or block their service.
  22. I mean, it is 400mAh better than the current Nexus 5 and while it is less than the LG G4 (3000mAh) the screen resolution is also lower so it should see comparable battery life. I do wish that Google would offer 32/64GB capacities rather than 16/32. I actually use the larger storage
  23. A more 'normal' website reporting it here (found via reddit): http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/08/31/source-new-nexus-5-by-lg-will-feature-snapdragon-808-5-2-1080p-display-3gb-ram-2700mah-battery-usb-c-and-more/ Same SD808, 1080p, 3GB ram, USB-C. 2700mAh battery and some other tidbits seem newly confirmed
