I think because I expect better battery life at the start of a new phone.  My S4 got better battery life when I got it than the S6 does. 

 

If you're open to other options, I would recommend the LG G4. Excellent battery life + removable battery and SD card option. Last time I looked, they were still giving away a free extra battery with every G4 purchase. Promo through LG.

 

The Nexus line is a good option too, but you cannot buy those through Sprint.

I regularly get 24-36 hours on my G4. LG has come a long way in the last couple of years. The experience is very close to pure Android. Much more so than Samsung's. I know LG's product was not that great like 3 years ago, ever since the Nexus 5 and G2, LG has been putting out great flagship devices.

 

From a reception standpoint, Samsung has been declining over the last couple of years. The S5 was worse than the S4, the S6 was worse than the S5. I don't remember the values on the Note 5. There is a Note 5 thread here you can check out, see what people's experiences have been.

24-36 is good! Is it tweaked and running on power save? I turned off WiFi scanning, nfc,disabled apps, turned off location and am running in power save. The last of which I hate cause it also tells me that in my notifications all the time.

 

The S6 has that 800 band which has helped reception in my area. So that's improved from the S4. Does the LG G4 have that band as well? Would I lose anything going to that phone?

No, no tweaks on my G4. I am on WiFi most of the day at work, so that does help quite a bit. I leave location on as well, it has a smart lock feature that turns the screen lock off when I am at home. I have only turned power save on twice. That was when I forgot my charger on a trip. 

 

As we've mentioned before, every device released after the Note 3 includes Band 25, Band 26 (800) and Band 41. So the S6 does hold that over the OG S4. However, there is a tri-band version of the S4 that includes all three bands, and it had superior performance over the S5 and S6. 

 

The G4 also includes Carrier Aggregation which combines two channels of B41 and doubles your possible top speeds. I've hit 133Mbps in Kansas City and 130Mbps here in Springfield.

don't know if your open to iphones, but the 6+ has pretty phenomenal battery life in my experience.

 

the 6S+ is supposed to be similar, even though the battery is slightly smaller, if I remember correctly, and the "S" models include the carrier aggregation which can double the possible speed in areas that have that enabled.

 

either way it can last several days with light use, or a whole day+ even with pretty heavy use..

I see around 15-17 hours of battery life, 6-7 hours of that is screen on, mix of tapatalk,facebook, youtube, and 1-1.5 hour or so of 3d games (world of tanks, or star wars knights of the old republic).  That is with good reception, in my experience poor reception is the biggest battery drain, with power saver mode turned on you can add 2-3 hours to both above estimates.  I am a very happy camper and have no complaints on the iPhone 6 plus.

I keep low power mode on all the time. It's great, and I wish that Apple would ship it as default.

I find my games are slower (lower frame rate), notifications arrive slower and all at once instead of as they occur, it also dims the screen to fast for my liking.  But yes it's a great feature if you know you need to stretch your phone, minimal compromises and great power savings, that said i think if it was the default it would anger people, i do like at 20 percent it has a pop up asking if you want to enable it though it could enable automatically.

They are doing away with Spark. Basically re-branding to be less confusing. LTE Plus is basically CA.

I was going through the town of Perry mo and saw it said LTE and it was strong signal. There is a new tower nearby but I wouldn't think its sprint. Was it a fluke or is it possible a new site is live?

Can you get SignalCheck information there? Perryville has been a bit of a straggler on LTE for who knows what reason. Frustrating IMO since that's so close to me.

It's possible there is a new site. No other way to get a strong signal there. Will you be back through the area again any time soon?

I will be going through on my way home Sunday night. I was going through the town last night and realized it said LTE with around 95db on band 25 and signalcheck said no phone calls or whatever so it looked very promising to me.

If you can find where the signal is coming from, and it's light enough to get pictures, that would be very helpful to! Otherwise a Signal Check screenshot with the strongest signal you can find will tell most of the story.

Anyone seen LTE roaming on us cellular working yet? Currently roaming and only getting evdo.
