Have these cells all been installed in the same neighborhood? If so, are they live and has anyone felt the bliss that is unending B41 coverage?

A bit off-topic, but not 100% sure where to put it.  Does Sprint sell ANY Android phones that are less than 5" and not ancient?  I know Boost has some but apparently you can't take a Boost phone to Sprint post-paid for some reason.

 

My wife thinks my S5 is too big and everything I saw at the Sprint store today was the same size or larger.

iPhone, but that doesn't have a good way of checking what band one is on with Field Test more or less borked at this stage of iOS and Apple's policy on signal apps which is ancient and needs overhaul. Given Apple is good with unlocked phones, I don't see why they can't be better here. I've considered writing Phil Schiller and seeing if something could be done but I don't anticipate a response on his end. Carriers should all be more transparent here as well. 

 

The HTC 10 is a small phone in a weird way, but not under 5". It is certainly thin and light, though.

LG Tribute 2 is under 5" and fairly recent release-wise, but I suspect old in terms of specs.

Its end of life, stores should start receieving tribute 5 soon, which we just started selling on boost. I think its pretty nice for $119

My S7 is actually a bit smaller than my old S5.

And the LG Tribute 5 is 5 inches, and thus not a solution.  Not to mention that as an LG, I assume it too has the power/volume buttons on the back.

Out of curiosity, I work for one of the Tier 1 railroads and we just switched to these really nice pole mounted LED lights (similar to the picture above). Once these lights were activated the LED light was putting out some RF that started to interfere with the VHF / UHF Channels our radios operate on. Would this type of RF, if present, mess with these base stations?

That's interesting, I'm sure that mostly low frequency is affected. Considering how high frequency these setups are, I seriously doubt they will be affected.

Both VHF and UHF?  Unless the LED lights are producing line spectrum, that sounds like very wideband interference.

 

And, yes, if UHF, then such could interfere with at least Lower 700 MHz, Upper 700 MHz, SMR 800 MHz, and Cellular 850 MHz.

I'm still not sold on LTE-U, but those articles really has nothing to do with how LTE-U could end up. If implemented properly there should not be any issues with harmful interference.

If properly implemented with listen before talk and other mitigation technologies there won't be any issues. Radio equipment is designed to prevent stray harmful interference, unlike your typical Chinese electronics that don't have proper EM shielding and design.

Sure, in a perfect world this might be fine.

 

But I'm still skeptical considering the over abundance of mixed devices that might fall through the cracks, and it only takes a couple of bad apples to cause all kinds of issues.

LTE-U has CSAT which is very similar in implementation to LBT. I don't think interference will be a problem. In essence LTE-U is designed to yield to WiFi, not overpower it. I think a lot of the FUD comes from Public Knowledge which in essence has misled a lot of people about the technology as if it was being implemented without CSAT. More and more I think Public Knowledge is just taking the position they are to poke Verizon, the largest backer of LTE-U, in the eye.
