800mhz doesn't go as far as i thought it would because mackinaw by IGA would get 1-3 bar on 1900mhz but 800 i onlyget 1-2 bars. why is this?

It's likely that you are connecting to a site much farther away than you would normally connect to on 1900.

The only way to know is to check SignalCheck Pro and see where it is reporting the signal to be coming from.

I picked up an Ativ S Neo over the weekend (nice device btw) and this morning I caught some LTE in my office, which is on U.S. 136 just west of I-57.   It was off and on, speeds 10-12 Mpbs. They must be testing.....

Pekin is covered with LTE now tried to get it sensored but only did it by Menards and Walmart kept it until past Springfield road going towards Tremont.

Anyone in Peoria getting LTE by the Shops at Grand Prairie. And Pekins LTE screams just like Washingtons LTE 30+ Mbs consistently.

One possible dumb question: will the 4g us cellular antennas become 4g sprint antennas when sprint turns off us cellular on 31 October?

Nope.  Sprint bought the spectrum, not the infrastructure, so the USCC sites will be shut down.  Sprint will then be able to add more carrier channels to their existing (and new) NV sites.

i have a question to why US Cellular would leave those towers empty when Sprint could have bought them.

And why are there three U.S. Cellular towers within five miles of each other. I have just always wondered that.

In the last financial report USCC it was mentioned that they are exploring what can be done with those assets including selling them. It may have been an earlier report so if I am off a quarter sorry about that. Maybe USCC thought they could lease those towers to Sprint but that didn't pan out. Outside of the recently sold markets, I look for USCC to sell the rest of the network in the next year or two. The latest billing issues and reception problems after 4G upgrades are hastening the likelihood of a complete sale of USCC. The next question becomes who will buy them Verizon or Sprint.

I would love to see Sprint buy the assets if they come up for sale as Sprint could use a boost in the rural areas of Illinois.

What will become of the site if one was roaming off such a site? I live in Minier and roam of a tower outside of town.

I wish they would to U.S. Cellular has awesome coverage in Illinois and would love to see Sprint Buy them. Verizon Sucks hope they don't get it. I moved from those greedy people with a sucky network.

That sucks. I had Verizon in Minier and the service was abysmal.

Yeah I had Verizon to and they sucked in Haritage lake even though there was a tower in Mackinaw. Verizon isnt what they make themselves out to be.
