How come Sprint doesn't get...

Ascertion

Recommended Posts

All I want on my phone is an icon that has an accurate indication of signal strength. Whether its 3G, 4G or some other marketingG doesn't really mean anything. Just because its an anythingG, doesn't mean I'll get any certain speed or quality of service.

It is a shame that most people don't see this, they are just sold on advertising gimmicks.

Do people seriously want some gaudy logo in their status bar to let them know they're on LTE? "4G" is simple and fully informative.

I was going to say that, but I didn't want everyone to find out I'm actually an ass...

But some of you already know.

Actually yes. And no. I would like the phones to say LTE instead of 4G. I don't care if its gaudy, as long as its there. You know what does it correctly? The iPhone. Just LTE, slightly bolded. No gaudiness. Just simplicity.

I wish it would just show 4g then the channel, cell id, etc. No dumb bars. Just signal numbers.

Cyanogen has that option, but I don't use it. Something about the simplicity of the signal bars works well for me. :P

In that case, I want this logo in my status bar...

Seriously.

I think right now since LTE is "new" for Sprint that people are paying more attention to if they are in 3G or LTE so look at the status bar more. Believe me you don't want flashy screens or icons. My Vibrant had an annoying startup AND shutdown Tmobile sound.

I just made this one. They could use it. :P

Needs more undulating neon stripes to be on the Now Network ;)

My friends used to joke when they revamped the F1 opening sequence a few years ago that it "must have been sponsored by sprint" because there was neon flying everywhere.

Hinterland? Geographical reference?

It's out near BFE, I assure you, it exists. Not like those mythical places such as Shang ri-la or Atlantis where everyone gets full 1tbps 10g connections even in the center of the earth

When I had at&t years ago, I had a noisy crazy looking icon for 3G in my status bar. I loved it! So I wouldn't mind one for LTE.

I want it to say LTE so that i can glance down at my phone while driving and see if I am connected easier. Maybe it is just my crappy eyesight but seeing the difference between 3G and 4G at a glance can be tricky. It makes it easier to save gas when mapping on Sensorly if I am actually just mapping the LTE areas.

Sent from a phone using an application. That's pretty cool.

I know there are widgets available that display what kind of network you're on in large easy to see pics and text. I don't know what they're called specifically because I've not used them but I have seen them on other people's phones.

Widgets are only useful when on the home screens. Doesn't help when in an app, but a good idea otherwise.

True. Probably just the only option, sort of.
