you still in JAX or are you back in TPA? has the JAX network gotten any better? Last time I was up there LTE was very sparse.

Still in Jax.  I'll be back in Tampa next week to visit the Alma Mater and watch us lose against Louisville lol.

Yeah LTE is still fairly sparse up here.  Don't find it very often at all in the area I am in.  Makes me miss Tampa.

I live in downtown Jax and get LTE pretty much everywhere I go in town now. The only place I don't get LTE and good network speeds is the Atlantic Blvd/Kernan area and The town centre area. I average 6-12mbps with lots of spikes of 25+Mbps. It is rarely ever slower than 6mbps.

A good portion of this could be because of my HTC Evo LTE... Next phone I look at is going to have to have some better RF performance.  I live right next to TownCenter so my phone is largely unusable right now, but I'm patient.

Man, this forum got real quiet lately. I have very good news, the Brandon town center tower is up and running. I went ahead and mapped a little bit but that area has been extensively map before with weak signals so it's gonna take a couple of mapping runs to make it dark purple. Also, it looks like the tower on Dale Mabry and Gunn Highway is about to go live.

Edit: A tower is live on Adamo and US 301 area in Brandon I noticed driving through.

The true test will be a walking inside the mall on the weekend and being able to use data.

Any 4G in RayJay yet?  I'm coming down for the USF Homecoming game this week.

Maybe if you're in the higher seats, the area has about -115 dBm average. I was able to browse the internet on 4G recently at an event across the street at the Yankees field.

I used to wait outside the gate for four hours prior to the games so I could get first row in the endzone, so I can't settle for anything less than lower level now lol.  Got a decent seat about halfway down the 100 level across from the student section.

Guess no LTE for me lol.

I'm at Brandon Mall using the LTE adjacent tower. Signal strength is fantastic, as EVDO always has been. Data speeds are also fantastic, unlike legacy EVDO, about 19 Mbps down and 6 up.

However, the mall is kind of dead right now. It's filling up for lunch, but the kiddies are still in school. The real test of the improvements will be the upcoming holiday season. Of course, I avoid the mall like the plague due to traffic, so I likely won't be around to test things. :P

Especially that mall during the holidays. I lived over there for a few years and from late Oct until mid January I would do anything to avoid that area. What a clusterfrack.

Sprint seems to slow down production of the upgrades the week of Christmas though so I hope they have one hell of a November upgrade wise.

Did anyone else notice that on the One Up program Florida is not listed as excluded anymore and on D.C. is now?

I think that state regulators need to be involved for them to roll out programs like that.

    • Dish network down since 3:31am Signalcheck Pro reports the Dish Network, at least the site at Scioto-Darby Rd Near I-270  in Columbus Ohio, was last operational at 3:31am. I normally pickup signal from two other Dish sites as well.  Reported via downdetector.com as Boost Infinite but one is such a lonely number. Tried to manually reconnect to Dish, but network is not appearing. Hopefully scheduled maintenance.
    • Probably a lot of Midwest towers. Slight bias since Nebraska is a weird market, but there are tons of USCC sites that T-Mobile isn't yet co-located on. Think a similar situation in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Missouri. But some other markets, like yours, probably don't have that issue!
    • Sticky Customers - YES, and leave them flip to the T-Mobile PLMN when needed and they will be even more likely to Stick.
    • It seems to me that if the goal is to improve rural, the US Cellular buy-out would get them only part of the way there, considering there are plenty of rural areas that US Cellular does not serve.  But I also have a hard time reading it the way I think that article is, that the cost of this deal comes straight out of the $9 billion.  I mean, they're getting spectrum for their existing operations in US Cellular markets, including places that I wouldn't call rural.  (Roanoke, VA is the 9th largest city in the state, for example.)  It seems like some of it should be allocated to rural expansion, but certainly not the whole purchase price. There's also something to be said for getting the customer base of potentially sticky customers who have been used to US Cellular being the only game in town for potentially decades. - Trip
