Network Vision/LTE - South Carolina Market (Columbia/Greenville/Spartanburg)

I have general data problems, I dont roam but I'll have zero to 2 bars and slow 3g. I couldn't even do two up dates because it couldn't connect to download them. Hopefully that will change in the "coming months" as sprint always says then half a year later they will do something.

I am suddenly roaming at work again in Greenville by 385/ Butler Rd. Then after lunch I had no signal at all... I'll hope it's a sign of work they're doing, but history tells me it's the new normal for the immediate future.

Oh man! Look at Sensorly in the SC market! Just about all of I-77 from Charlotte to Columbia is now LTE (wasn't just this past Saturday when I went to Georgia from Charlotte on I-77), and most of I-26 all the way to I-95, and even down I-95 towards Savannah as well. That is impressive!

There is definitely some bogus or testing data on I-77 before after forest Dr. and Blythewood. Those towers are definitely not broadcasting LTE at this time.

I was looking at Sensorly and am wondering the same thing. All that LTE popped up overnight. Could they be testing 800Lte on a upcoming phone that has Sensorly on it? Even the Note 2 with its awesome rf specs cant hold a LTE signal that far.

Maybe the elusive LG D820 a.k.a. Nexus 5 :-D That would be pretty friggin sweet :-)

The Tower in North Blythewood is definitely broadcasting LTE. As for forest drive... Down near Ft Jackson gate i get strong 4g.

Finally some 4G on Woodruff Road! Had it over by Moe's / Starbucks / Walmart. Pulled down 13Mbps, not bad. Looks like there's still a hole in coverage just big enough to cover work and home... go figure lol.

I was one ehprd last night( around and past midnight) and couldn't get any data even though it showed 3g, I'd load Facebook error no connection same with chrome browser. When I switched the CDMA only mode to run evdo rev a it was faster than ehprd.... Switched back this morning and it works now. Tired of this network.

tower in Columbia SC by the Lake Murray Dam Definitely does not have 4g yet... it is showing yellow on the map.. Where are you getting the information from? Also, there are a bunch of sites missing in the core of Columbia SC. Are they ever going to be on this map?

I've asked this before and have gotten mixed answers...

Sometimes if a tower is marked 4G accepted doesn't necessarily mean 4G is live.

Just what I've been told.

I've also wondered about the lack of towers in the downtown area.

Its True... Kinley Rd site is on air 4G and the one by the Dam is now 4G. Also spotted tower crews at the site by Wally World on Bush river.

I'm assuming this is the one over by the Chili's?

The one by Chilis on Harbison is NOT doing 4G yet.  Kinley rd is by the new hospital. It connects Lake Murray Blvd with Broad River. I use signal Check Pro and you can tell by the RSSi from the LTE.  Its usually about 15db less than the 1X and EHRPD if they are coming from the same antenna.

Interesting... Sprint must be almost ready to turn on another tower here in Anderson... I was at the intersection of 28 Bypass and Whitehall and LTE popped up on my phone... It lasted until I got halfway between there and where HHGregg is on 28... Interesting...

    • I think the push for them is adding US Mobile as a MVNO with a priority data plan.  Ultimately, making people more aware of priority would allow them (and other carriers) to differentiate themselves from MVNOs like Consumer Cellular that advertise the same coverage. n77 has dramatically reduced the need for priority service at Verizon where the mere functioning of your phone was in jeopardy a couple of years ago if you had a low priority plan like Red Pocket. Only have heard of problems with T-Mobile in parts of Los Angeles. AT&T fell in between. All had issues at large concerts and festivals, or sporting events if your carrier has no on-site rights. Edit: Dishes native 5g network has different issues: not enough sites, limited bandwidth. Higher priority would help a few. Truth is they can push phones to AT&T or T-Mobile.
    • Tracfone AT&T sims went from QCI 8 to 9 as well a couple years ago. I'm pretty neutral towards AT&T's turbo feature here, the only bad taste left was for those who had unadvertised QCI 7 a couple months ago moved down to 8. In my eyes it would have been a lot better for AT&T to include turbo in those Premium/Elite plans for free to keep them at QCI 7, while also introducing this turbo add on option for any other plans or devices. As it stands now only a handful of plans can add it, and only if you're using a device on a random list of devices AT&T considers to be 5G smartphones.
    • My Red Pocket AT&T GSMA account was dropped to QCI 9 about a year ago.  Most recently 8 for the last few years prior.  Voice remains at 5.
    • https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2024/05/att-announces-7-monthly-add-on-fee-for-turbo-5g-speeds/ Hopefully we don't ever see T-Mobile do something like this. Based on how I was treated with my Credit Limit, it's definitely not the same company it was before the merger, and it's entirely possible they'd try it.
