Network Vision/LTE - Nashville Market (including Knoxville/Chattanooga/Tri-Cities)

Just ran a test and confirmed very slow. 10kbps down and 180 kbps up. Yes you read that right...10 kbps.

It's probably because only one tower in that very populated area has 4g. Once the other towers nearby receive updates the speeds will level out. It's all about site density and how many people are connected to the site. Think about it, at the moment one tower is covering Belmont, parts of Vanderbilt, Music Row, the Melrose area, 100 Oaks, and a part of I-65.

I mapped the south end of Cleveland Tn this evening and verified there is a LTE signal along hwy 64 at Blue Springs Rd near the coca cola plant. I mapped it with sensorly so maybe it will show up on the map soon

Speeds are much better today in the Belmont area. Getting about 5 mb down and 5 up. Of course most people are still asleep at the moment so that will probably change some but its a good sign.

Also tried to map some of I440 yesterday by I65 and Nolensville road.

Smyrna looks to he covered now. I went nearly the length of Sam Ridley and had VERY fast 4g.

On the flip side, the Belmont area is back to 3g this morning. This along with all of I440 and 21st ave s.

Picked up lte at I75 exit 20 McDonald TN at the pilot for a few mins this morning. I also noticed that all of knoxville this morning seems to not be holding ephrd today and keeps dropping back to evdo rev a. I didn't get to sensorly to map it this morning I'll try again Thurs morning.

My s3 switches between rev a and ehrpd all the time here in Knoxville. But it has been for awhile ever since ehrpd starting showing up.

Mine has been good about holding ehrpd around town just noticed that I can't seem to hold it at all this morning.

Finally got to take my trip up to Johnson City from Knoxville. Data speeds and connectivity are quite improved since the last time I took the trip, especially once you hit I-81. Definitely was nice seeing the the 4g icon light up for the first time. Ran sensorly on both an EVO LTE and a Note 2 which made me want to throw my EVO LTE out the car window. Having to airplane mode toggle it for it to pick up LTE is rather frustrating. The Note 2 had no issues picking up and maintaining signals. Once in Johnson City though, both phones pick up and maintain LTE just fine in the main area of town. It's quite nice and I can't wait for it to get to Knoxville.

Here's some speeds here in JC. Not some of the spectacular numbers I have seen but still quite good and much better than I'm used to.

Over on harding place again today. Was here yesterday too and will be the next dew days. 4g speeds here are not good. It was like this a couple months ago too. At max I am getting 1-2 mb downloads. A lot of time I am getting much worse than that. Ran a speed test a few minutes ago and was getting about 500 kB. 3g is faster most times. Why is this?

It could be a number of different reasons but it's most likely too many people on one tower or insufficient backhaul.

And you didn't map out that one tower in the Cherokee National Forest, shame.

-105 dBm is my signal strength. Getting 2 Mbps down and 700 kbps up this morning.

Hmm that's odd as I usually get better speeds around that signal strength. As I said before it could be an overloaded tower (even at 5 AM) as it's covering a large area at the moment but it should get better as soon as more towers around it are 4G accepted.

Tower on Wrights Ferry Rd near Topside and Pellissippi is up and running LTE. Speedtest'ed at 17M when I drove by it on my way home. Not a ton of coverage, but nice to see one so close to Knoxville finally.

I started up Sensorly and started a trip when I pulled onto Alcoa Hwy from John Sevier. Cut it off after I lost 4G. I took Old Topside so I'm not sure if the signal actually reaches Topside yet. The info isn't showing up on Sensorly so either I did it wrong, or it'll show up sometime soon.

I'll be on Topside Monday and will run Sensorly again.

Did you happen to grab it in sensorly?
