  1. This is a good "problem" to have. I would gander that T-Mobile has the opposite problem, decreasing subs and usage.
  2. I've said this a million times but I still can't wrap my mind around the size of these 800mhz panels!
  3. Regardless the answer, I'm glad a Nextel site got converted. Is this in a gap in coverage? Or was this picked to add capacity?
  4. Ah, good find! Is it possible these sites were converted using legacy hardware? It certainly looks like legacy panels rather than NV ones in the pics which were posted of the tower now.
  5. Let me catch up here. This tower was marked as being converted from iDEN to CDMA and the work being completed? It would seem likely that while this may be updated in the future, it is not yet?
  6. Shentel runs and owns the network in a small area of the country. This is branded as Sprint and you as a customer have ubiquitous access between Sprint and Shentel areas. Sprint does all their marketing/support, Shentel maintains the network. It covers parts of MD/VA/PA. They are one of the last remaining Sprint "affiliate" markets. Robert obvoiusly gets information from somewhere within Sprint. Since Sprint doesn't own the network in Shentel areas, and Shentel is in control of the network here, he doesn't get that information. Shentel is working with Alc-Lu on the upgrade so those are the only two sources of potential information. I care about the Sprint network in this area, since that is where I reside?
  7. You have no idea... I travel between Harrisburg and the Lehigh Valley using the I81/I78 corridor and you can definitely tell a huge difference in QoS between the two.
  8. That's a good point! The person was knowledgeable but I could definitely tell english wasn't a native language.
  9. Back in July I had issues with my EVO and needed to call customer support. Always got an American when I called. Just had to call for activation issues regarding my moms line and it's now apparently been outsourced to India. I haven't seen anything in the news about this. Anyone else experience this?
  10. I would say they made a large push to get 800mhz up and running due to being spectrum constrained there.
  11. Directly from the transcript: We still anticipate that we will be able to complete Network Vision projects by year-end 2013 for the original budget projection of 115 million. We had planned to launch LTE at the end of the third quarter, but delays from our vendor related to logistics execution and material shortages has pushed our timeline back several months. We now plan to launch LTE just prior to Thanksgiving on sites that carry approximately 37% of our current 3G data usage and cover approximately 45% of our 2.1 million covered POPS. By year-end the sites where LTE will be in service will carry approximately 50% of our current 3G data usage, and will cover just over 50% of our covered POPS. The service will be available to our customers along Interstate 81, from (inaudible) north through Winchester, Virginia, Martinsburg, West Virginia and Hagerstown, Maryland. We also have significant coverage in the Greater Harrisburg, Liquorville, and Hershey, Pennsylvania areas.
  12. They did mention where they plan on launching but I missed the totality of it. I remember he said the I81 corrider from Harrisonburg, VA to Harrisburg, PA including the greater Harrisburg region. Seeing as I live there, thats what I tuned in to, but I agree, we'll have to check the transcript once seekingalpha has it posted.
  13. Launching around Thanksgiving, listening in now. 200 sites done by year end of 510. 40% of all sites. Originally planned on launching end of 3rd Q but Alc-Lu had supply shortages. Hurricane Sandy - Impact only to PA wireless network, 100 sites affected, all back online and was caused by loss of power.
  14. As much as that sounds possible, I doubt they want to invest in the infrastructure to actually build it out if they can't monetize it. Only offering a single mifi won't generate much income.
  15. I imagine it is quite hard for small carriers like this to get devices. However, when they bid on this spectrum, what did they think the end result would be? Seems that they should have seen the writing on the wall, no?
  16. They stopped introducing new WiMax devices but as far as I know still sell existing ones.
  17. Has anyone been able to update via the software updater through Sprint? Still no update available through them on my wifes phone.
  18. That and the issues are more pronounced in your market since Ericsson has had issues getting 3G up and running. Once 3G is live on NV things will improve greatly even in absence of LTE. The new sites that have gone live where I live give me a solid 2.5mb/s on 3G. Plenty for anything I currently need.
  19. At face value, I'd wonder if you still had an LTE connection, or the signal degraded greatly. Outside of that, I would wonder if Sprint is cracking down on tethering on its new network.
  20. Got a chance to drive past the Shentel location at the corner of 22 and Devonshire Rd. near Best Buy. Nothing is up yet but all the new antennas are sitting in boxes next to the tower. No lines are strung up yet for mounting either, must have just gotten delivered.
  21. First eHRPD sighting in a Shentel area! About time! Shentel has had their new core completed for quite some time. I was wondering why they didn't implement eHRPD sooner seeing as LTE signals have been live. EDIT - Just restarted my EVO, getting eHRPD as well in Susquehanna Township.
  22. What technology exists to hand a call from WCDMA on ATT to 1x on Sprint? Also, why would the carriers ever agree to this?
