  1. I would love for an Sprint WCS spectrum swap for PCS spectrum especially in those cities that have only 15-20 MHz of PCS spectrum. At this point I am all for trading spectrum to carriers who are actually going to use it. And so if AT&T did offer such a deal as this, I would take it if I were sprint.
  2. There is no way Google will touch Clearwire again. Google just sold their entire stake in Clearwire earlier this year in Feb 2012 and took a 450 million dollar loss on the sale. You can look up on Google..haha...to find reference to this fact. Also Apple would have no interest in Clearwire's 2.5 GHz spectrum since they are not in the wireless business and certainly the 2.5 GHz band alone is NOT what you would start a wireless business anyways. I see only Sprint as a potential buyout candidate for Clearwire since they own about 50% of the company already. Had Sprint been in excellent financial condition right now, I am sure they would have bought out Clearwire by now to secure the 2.5 GHz spectrum assets at such a low price since the Clearwire stock was so heavily deflated 2 weeks ago.
  3. Cricket and MetroPCS have been in deep doo doo for the past couple quarters. They are not in a position to help Dish build out a LTE network especially since they have to worry about their own network. Besides Sprint has brand new cell tower infrastructure in Network Vision that would easily accommodate Dish's needs. I really hope that Dish and Sprint can hammer out a network hosting contract that will be beneficial for both parties. Anything that can help investors get off Sprint's back about lack of cash reserves to pay back loans would be appreciated.
  4. Please check this thread for latest status on market availability. Also do not confuse "1st LTE sites" with "Anticpated launch." The Jan 2013 is the anticipated official launch date for the SF market but at this rate anything can happen it can be pushed back further pending any delays. This is all we know at this point. http://s4gru.com/ind...t-running-list/
  5. Yes the Kyocera Dura-series phones are NV ready as in it contains the CDMA 800 and 1900 MHz bands. You'll be waiting a long time if you expect LTE rugged phones to come out any time soon. No carrier has even come out with a pure LTE device for voice and data yet.
  6. I am sorry but why the heck do you assume Salt Lake City is slated for a 2014 start? The thread you are referring to goes up to June 2013 only. I am pretty sure Salt Lake City is a 3rd round market since its the largest city in Utah.
  7. I wished Sprint would have talked about how the Virgin and Boost Mobile platforms are doing in terms of 4G Wimax phone sales and the general customer's reception to 4G Wimax availability. I am curious because I would like to see if Virgin and Boost Mobile customers are taking advantage of Wimax to help offload 3G traffic.
  8. I was kinda hoping for a 4.5 inch screen and at least 16 GB storage. 8 GB storage is pretty weak. I am not a big fan of QWERTY keyboard phones anymore since they make the phones thick. The 0.54 inches in thickness proves that while the SGS3 and EVO 4G LTE phones are much thinner. Oh well, I wasn't planning to get the Moto Photon Q phone anyways since my upgrade is not available until mid 2013. I just would have thought that Sprint and Motorola would produce a better Motorola LTE phone than this.
  9. Is the HTC EVO 4G LTE and LG Viper getting a similar update? So far only the Galaxy Nexus and SGS3 have received OTA updates to have more optimized LTE connections. I really hope Sprint puts the appropriate changes into the Motorola Photon Q before release so that it has the optimal LTE connection algorithms so it doesn't need a follow on update.
  10. Yes apparently a huge flock of birds decided to invade Austin's Sprint towers.
  11. How does Sprint expect these darn birds to leave? All of us needs our LTE.
  12. I agree...Sprint should buy out shares from the cable co's to reduce their stake in Clearwire since they are now sleeping with Verizon. It should be a win-win for both sides. Also Google has already sold their stake in Clearwire at a huge loss of 453 million back in Feb 2012. http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Mobile-and-Wireless/Google-Sells-Clearwire-Stake-at-a-Big-Loss-888192/
  13. Clearwire has been on a huge downturn as of late and is currently at $0.86/share. The downturn is related with funding issues and investors are worried that Clearwire has a funding gap and may not have enough funding to last until next June. Investors were hoping that Clearwire would be selling some of its spectrum to help fill in the funding gap vs. going out in the open market and raising more money. I wonder if Sprint at some point will take advantage of this to increase their stake in Clearwire again since Sprint is determined to keep Clearwire alive since they will be using Clearwire for offloading traffic. I am sure at this point it is too risky for Sprint to take it over entirely since Clearwire is still in the midst of working closely with the GTI for TDD-LTE. Sprint needs to focus on executing Network Vision and doesn't need the distraction. What do you guys think? http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/clearwires-funding-issues-spook-investors-pushing-shares-below-1/2012-07-25
  14. Who told you that you would be getting Wimax on the SGS3? It sounds pretty ridiculous since Sprint has not released a Wimax device since oct 2011. For now you are stuck with 3G until the Colorado area gets built with LTE.
  15. Nice summarization of the BC's for some of the major continents. There was no mention of South American, African and Austrialian continents though. It just seems like a really tall order to ask for the entire world to agree upon certain BC's to globally roam on and deploy LTE in those BC's and finally to have devices to support all those globally BCs. You are right in that Clearwire uses BC41 while Asia uses BC40 so how would they be able to roam on each other. Also your comment reminds me of the recent Verizon commercial where it shows a guy travelling all over the world using LTE roaming and back at his work office the manager and the secretary are wondering how he is getting his work done. Then Verizon shows in the commercial how their LTE supports LTE roaming in different countries. How is this possible if the current Verizon LTE phones cannot support the European LTE BC's?
  16. Blah ba blah ba blah ba blah.....same old recycled garbage that uninformed wireless analysts who don't cover Sprint in detail always spit out about how Sprint doesn't have enough spectrum since its only doing a 5x5 LTE carrier and can't compete with Verizon and AT&T.
  17. Yeah but what you are proposing is not practical since ideally you want to have both voice and data capabilities. If you switch to LTE only, you only have data capability. I have read what Robert has posted before but if updating your profile can help fix some weak LTE problems then that should be used since you only need to update your profile when you have a new PRL.
  18. It doesn't seem like A/L is capable of meeting the 110 sites per month at this rate based on the low rate of towers being reported as complete. Its looking like its very far fetched that A/L will be able to get as many sites as they would like by September assuming its still the launch date.
  19. Everyone please update their Sprint "Profile" under settings->about phone which will help with faster speeds. Please watch this video and listen around the 1:00 mark.

  21. Love League of Legends!!!!! I've played League of Legends over Wimax connection via wifi-tether and it seems to be ok if the connection is strong. Since the Wimax connection at my house is just avg, I do get latency spikes sometimes and I can definitely tell that I am playing over a cellular connection.
  22. The OTA update permanently locks your bootloader so buyer beware. It does introduce some nice things such as 1080p camera. But other that the update is just not worth it. I would much rather wait until the official ICS update comes out. In the mean time I want to keep the options open to be able to unlock my bootloader and test out a CM10 rom while the official ICS update is still being built.
  23. I kinda surprised we still haven't seen any LTE sites up in Miami yet. It is now just past mid July.
