I would. Quite simply put, GSM and CDMA have much better and broader coverage than LTE, not to mention many countries still don't have LTE fully (or even extensively) rolled out. Here are a few examples of the coverage difference between LTE and older legacy technologies: - Areas around my house get AT&T B5 WCDMA/HSPA but not B17/B12/B5 LTE even though each of these technologies come from the same sites with the same sector alignments. - Driving on 79 between Ithaca, NY and I-81, Verizon has phenominal CDMA coverage wheras LTE is scarce, despite every site running B13 at full power alongside CDMA BC0.

No, T-Mobile has B5 deployed in Myrtle Beach. It is their only B5 market but since most T-Mobile devices support B5 for AT&T roaming, :shrug:.

I’m with you in that I agree all south facing sectors should go straight to 5x5 B26. As far as the line between 5x5 and 3x3 deployment goes, I don’t know for sure. I can reach out to my source at Sprint to see if they’ve got that planned out yet or not...

I can confirm that B26 will be 3x3 in Seattle. Canada is primary and were secondary in this region so there’s a good chance 5x5 will never be turned up.

Hi all, I’m in Canada right now and my Sprint and AT&T phones are roaming on ROGERS while my T-Mobile phone is roaming on TELUS. After spending a few days in BC, I have to say that TELUS completely blows ROGERS out of the water as far as rural coverage goes. TELUS’s rural network in BC is surprisingly similar to Sprint’s - 5x5 850 B5 (850), 15x15 B2 (1900) and 20x20 B4 (2100). The Qrxlevmin on all bands in -128. ROGERS is running 5x5 B12 (700a), 5x5 B17 (700b), 5x5 B5 (850), 20x20 B4 (2100) and 20x20 B7 (2600). It seems that the two providers have similar site density although TELUS has done a much better job of optimizing their network. I don’t think I’ve dropped LTE once on TELUS whereas I find myself on 3G/E probably a third of the time on ROGERS. Also, it seems that ROGERS LTE gives up at much higher signal levels than TELUS LTE. TELUS has no problem maintaining a -126 or -127 LTE connection while ROGERS LTE often drops off close to -122, despite them having much more spectrum on air than TELUS. The most impressive thing I have noticed on TELUS in my few days of using them is that their 5x5 B5 LTE carrier performs well even at signal levels as low as -128. Today I was able to hold a facetime call without any issues as I passed through a number of patches where TELUS’s B5 LTE carrier’s RSRP was hovering between -123 and -128. I think the reason for this is because TELUS is very aggressive about pushing users up to higher band spectrum - I oftentimes see my phone jump from -110ish B5 to -120ish B2. Overall, I’ve been very impressed with my experience with TELUS thus far and slightly let down by ROGERS. I hope to see Sprint follow in TELUS’s footsteps as far as network management goes - with a little more 1900 LTE on air, I think Sprint can build a network that works similarly to TELUS’s. Stretch 800 and 1900 to their max, drop the Qrxlevmin values on all bands and be a little more aggressive about shifting users to mid/highband spectrum and I think Sprint could do some pretty great things, just like TELUS has .

Hey does anyone know off the top of their head whether the iPhone 6S supports B25 CA?

Not sure. I would love to see 26 (PCC) + 25 (SCC) CA for areas where the B25 uplink fails although the downlink is still functional. I don't think Sprint should implement 25 + 26 CA, though, because if a user is in range of B25, I don't think they should be adding to the load on B26. Sadly only 25+26 CA has been standardized to date.

Difficult? Yes. Impossible? No. T-Mobile has a 4x4 MIMO deployed on their 700 MHz LTE on many sites across my market (dual antennas and RRUs). Additionally, high order MIMO lowband antennas are becoming more and more compact. Generally not great - site density is awful and usually they’ve only got 5x5 LTE on air that carries voice, SMS/MMS and data. Put short, most B12 only areas in my experience are slow and not super fun to use.
