  1. Network Vision is the complete replacement of Sprints legacy network. Everything is getting torn out. Old panels, old coax cables, old backhaul, base stations, etc. The new gear will have be installed properly and inspected and accepted for different technologies such as 3g / 3g CDMA 800 / 4g LTE. For Alcatel-Lucent, their modus operandi is for to get a site 3g accepted after 45-60 days of work and then 30-45 days afterwards will get 4g up and running.
  2. Permits has been applied on a good portion of Sprint cell sites in Tucson including that storage place. There are some sites accepted for 3g (which is the prerequisite for 4g acceptance due to the modus operandi of alcatel-lucent) in the greater Tucson area but any specific info is sponsor only.
  3. Definitely not sprint. That's an ATT setup. Notice the 4 connectors and 1 RRU per sector with one side of the panels not connected. That side is where the connection to utilize AWS is located.
  4. Got an address for us of the storage place? We have maps of every sprint site in the US in the sponsor area and it wouldn't be too hard to look it up if given an address.
  5. Use an image hosting website like http://imgur.com/ or dropbox etc.
  6. 1400 mbps?!?!! Holy hell! Are you sure you're in America and not South Korea?
  7. Eh... They'll need a DAS system in the new arena for sure. TDD-LTE 2500 sure sounds nice and will be a godsend when they come online later this year. Meanwhile.. Nevada is beating California's ass permit wise lol.
  8. Actually installing the hardware is the majority of the work. There is still testing to make sure the parts are hooked up correctly and the broadcasting signal is correct and a plethora of other minor stuff. The part that is out of Sprints control is the backhaul provider which provides the internet connection.
  9. This telecom line has been in my backyard since forever. Can anyone identify what's going on here? http://imgur.com/UOeTkox,ks2eW9P,MEXH6CY#1
  10. Look at the pictures in this thread. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2902-how-to-spot-sprint-panels-and-rrus-ericsson-style/ This is the type of antenna that Sprint and their vendors are deploying. Two sides with 1900mhz antennas and an 800 mhz antenna in the middle. These are capable of both FDD-LTE 1900/800 and EVDO 1900 & CDMA 1xA 1900/800. Once the physical work is done, the setup is capable of broadcasting any of the supported technologies with the addition of carrier card which will enable the technology as the base stations are modular and the RRU's installed already support the frequencies. Shot Answer -- additional work or testing may be needed for the 4g hardware.
  11. Now if only these municipalities will update their april permit reports (or weekly) so I can track the permit application process...
  12. Nope. Deployment is on schedule regardless of the Softbank and Dish mess. In fact, deployment is now accelerating with every market being started by the three OEM's in the next few weeks. Backhaul may still be an issue but not much nowadays. Biggest issue is finding contractors to do the physical work.
  13. If there are any folks in Reno reading this thread, be on the lookout for cell tower / site work from Amtrak station going down Carson Reno Highway to the Comstock Park area. Got a line of cell sites that have permits issued and are ready to go for NV upgrades. Edit: Be on the lookout for Triton contractors
  14. Expect that or even worse on legacy 3g sites until they upgrade the backhaul to NV ready status (you'll get 1-> 2.5 mbps if so) and upgrade the equipment.
  15. Wait a couple more months before taking the jump and watch the progress from here. Or you can suffer now but watch a historical process of how a carrier that was almost driven to the ground rebuild itself (and its network) to bring competition to the ruling duopoly.
  16. Uhm No. They're not going to "flip the switch" any time soon whatsoever. What Sprint is doing though is beginning to deploy in that area. Work has begun and will likely see acceptances within several weeks for some sort of NV upgrade be it 4g or 3g. The bulk of the work is planned to be done during the summer time which should mean that LTE should be available in many places (but not completely filled in) by the end of summer. By fall, a good portion of the market should be done so October sounds about right for a tentative market launch of certain areas. On the other hand, SMR 800 / LTE 800 services will help a lot as the shut down of iDen progresses towards the complete shut down date of june 30 and there's good reason and confirmation that LTE 800 will be launched in the surrounding areas within several months.

  18. I believe it's a mix of rural / small carriers and the blue death star that own the lower 700 mhz bloc. AJ should know.
  19. Metro has some 700 in pockets here and there. It is not economical nor feasible to just run 700 for select markets and get specialized handsets for those markets. Sprints SMR 800 is nationwide.
