Sprint Network Vision is it going on?
centermedic replied to CAmbrocio1's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
MULE! Best game of all time. Don't laugh but my first computer was a Coleco Adam(remember that?). I redeemed myself by buying an Atari 130XE as my follow up. -
I got comfortable with my age ages ago. B-)

Navigon, take me away!Sorry,I had to do it.

Three weeks of official Jelly Bean bugs on the HTC EVO 4G LTE
centermedic replied to kckid's topic in HTC
I totally understand where you are coming from. My IT department at work had to sacrifice 2 chickens and dance around a fire to get my work email pushed to my phone. However, it does not seem that the JB update is buggy but rather its a limitation of Android that you need to hard reset after upgrading. Bottom line, it does not sound like your issues will be fixed until you hard reset. PS- Is your company ok with forwarding your email to your gmail account? That would be an easy fix.- 36 replies

AT&T had an abysmal reputation 12 years ago. Network was completely overloaded in just about any metro center you went to. Look where they are now.

Bingo. On top of that Sprint has had a bad name for several years(dating back to the good ole days). For some reason there have always been the Sprint naysayers and they won't go anywhere with a name change.

I am going to go out on a limb here. In three to five years you will see sprint grow to about 75 million subs. I think that T-Mobile will see some significant growth also. Both gains will be largely at AT&Ts expense leaving Sprint and AT&T on equal footing sub wise and Verizon the undisputed number one carrier in terms of subs.

LTE Roaming On Other Networks May Be Influenced By The IPhone 5
centermedic replied to rwhittaker13's topic in General Topics
I dont think Softbank is using 1900 in Japan. They do control some 2500 spectrum though. So unless its VOLTE or VOIP it will be LTE, if anything. -
LTE Roaming On Other Networks May Be Influenced By The IPhone 5
centermedic replied to rwhittaker13's topic in General Topics
With the pending Softbank investment, international LTE roaming is more likely. -
In the sales world there is (was) a seven year principal. It basically said that once you lost a contract it would take seven years for you to win it back. People will come back as they realize that the sprint customer sitting next to them has a better signal than they do. i think the last thing Sprint wants is a large and uncontrolled influx of subscribers. That would put them back behind the curve again. As far as I am concerned, let people wallow in their own ignorance.

Network Vision/LTE - Raleigh/Durham Market (includes Fayetteville)
centermedic replied to spotmeterf64's topic in Markets
I'll check ten ten again. Wonder if its my phone. Some spots in Raleigh are still bad like south east raleigh. But downtown and the NC states area have seen a marked improvement. -
Network Vision/LTE - Raleigh/Durham Market (includes Fayetteville)
centermedic replied to spotmeterf64's topic in Markets
I checked a couple of days ago and I did not pick up LTE there or down on ten ten road. On a good note I am getting better speeds in some places. I can hit 1 mgb/s in downtown Raleigh during the day. -
We used to have at least two HTC devices a year until 2012. I think the whole LTE roll out slowed that down. I'm sure we will see at least two or three HTC devices this year. especially if we see the first one in Q1.

Might take a look at this. 32 gb of storage negates my need for a sd card.

I also posted elsewhere that Sprint can blunt the charge of having too much spectrum by opening up their LTE frequencies to other providers We have seen evidence of Sprints willingness to do so. As far as I know, AT&T and Verizon do not have any other companies on their LTE nor do they have any intention of doing so. The FCC loves the idea of open access.

Financial deals are outside of the scope of the FCC. Additionally the 2 billion and change that Sprint is proposing is actually double because sprint owns almost half the company PLUS they will be absorbing all of Clears debt(getting closer to that overvaluation of 16 billion). To put the icing on the cake Sprint can almost certainly veto any other offer AND they have first right of refusal. The final pricing might be higher but I have no concern about this deal going through.

MetroPCS or Cricket roaming on Sprint LTE?
centermedic replied to MacinJosh's topic in General Topics
I wonder if allowing other providers to roam on Sprints LTE network is a legal move. As Sprints proposed acquisitions come up for FCC approval Sprint can argue that they have opened up their spectrum to other providers, something that the big two have not readily done. I am sure that's an argument that would resonate with the FCC. -
That's the only thing I can think of. But if their plan is to consolidate their pre paid brands then they should just go ahead and do it. As long as Boost and Virgin are in operation Sprint does not want to undercut them, so you get this PAYG plan that does not quite measure up to Boost and Virgin.

MetroPCS or Cricket roaming on Sprint LTE?

Dont quote me but IIRC they were disputing how the amount was calculated. -
MetroPCS or Cricket roaming on Sprint LTE?
centermedic replied to MacinJosh's topic in General Topics
Cricket is disputing the amount of money owed to Sprint under their roaming agreement. -
Now I feel stupid. Prl applies to roaming because Native Is always first. Gotcha.

What I am thinking is when multiple towers are in range of the device or a prl update has taken a network off the list effectively taking a tower out of the system. Am I totally wrong on this?
-
OK. The PRL sets network priority. Couldn't that require a query to multiple towers?
