Considering switching to Sprint and looking for input
kojitsari replied to convict2324's topic in Welcome
The way he phrased that he needed to be a "premier sponsor" instead of just a sponsor(when really they're the same thing, except one expires) made me question if he knew that you can get temporary sponsorship. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk -

Considering switching to Sprint and looking for input

There shouldn't be speeds like that after NV. I'm assuming that site was way overburdened(maybe had old backhaul?) since you had those kinds of speeds with such good signal. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk -
I'm guessing that's due to the fingerprint sensor? Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Do they not have a waterproof one for the 5s? I know they had one for the 5 when I was still rocking one(well waterproof as in it covers everything other than submersion, which non of the cases stand up to submersion very well if at all). Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

I prefer the ballistic series, they're better than the otterbox and life proof cases(personal experience). Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

If you read the Colorado NV thread you'll see that things are a bit hectic in some areas right now due to the upgrades going on(that's how it is in basically every market for a period of time when upgrades are commencing. usually a few weeks). With regard to RF performance there so far isn't really "something comparable." It beats out the G2 by ~6dbm sometimes more(depends on how you ask) and its the next best RF performer right now. That doesn't saying the s5, or the new HTC M8(or whatever its going to be) won't come close or beat it. Out of the current offerings though the n5 is in a class of its own by a decent margin in RF performance. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk -

From what I've discovered (through research, mainly on s4gru )being right next to a tower doesn't guarantee good speeds. This is do to the way antennas are positioned(downtilt etc). I personally live on a fringe signal area(for voice and 3g, supposedly supposed to get fair LTE but my towers are having issues with ecsfb I believe due to the symptoms) and I have yet to drop a call or miss a text. This is all on an average -100dbm to -110dbm 1x signal and usually a -95bm to -105dbm evdo/ehrpd signal. I see pre NV 3g speeds (usually around 20-45 kbs during the day) and I have zero issues loading web pages, streaming Pandora. Really the only PITA is streaming videos or downloading large files. Oh and I regularly get a usable (2-7mbs download speed) LTE signal at -125dbm to -130dbm while at my girlfriends house. If you'd prefer better signal there's always the plethora of boosters (except for sprint LTE it seems, but LTE provides usable speeds at lower ranges than 3g can), my parents got one for their house and instead of a -115dbm 1x signal I usually have around a -85(occasionally as low as mid 70's, sometimes skirts up to 90's. It stays below -100dbm at all times though). It cost like 240 bucks total for an upgraded outdoor antenna, a omni directional indoor antenna, and the booster pack like its sold as. There's a thread on this forums for signal check. Mike the creator of the app is a contributing, active member of S4GRU. If you go post this in the proper thread he'll get back to you(he's usually pretty quick too). Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk -
Or will they go the route the other carriers did to kick people off their grandfathered unlimited plans(not allowing you to activate a new phone on your line unless you change to a "up to date" plan). Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

They could, twas just an idea. Every time I'm slightly optimistic out comes the downers lol:P. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

If you look at the person I replied to. He was talking about buying a device and selling it to lock in his plan for another two years (to not have to get family). I was offering him a different method to avoid being pushed to family(for the best of my knowledge). Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Like I said earlier, there are just signs indicating that they're moving from subsidies. I don't think theyll force you off your plan unless you want to upgrade in a store...if you buy it outright wouldnt it be the same as activating an old phone/swapping between them? The .17 modem is the best after .15 except it doesn't connect to sites with ecsfb issues(like .15 will). I'm not sure where you read .23 was the same as .17 because everything I've read says .17 is superior and my personal experience is that .17 is superior Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

There's a lot of xposed modules, or you could try running that new Ubuntu OS on it. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

To save you the hassle of reading through the framily thread(even though there's lots of good info in there), a few of our members who work for sprint/third party stores have said that you have to talk to a manager to get approval for the 2 year subsidy. Due to sprint changing to supposedly (not confirmed yet just highly suspected I believe) framily only, so be prepared for a bit of a struggle. If I were you I'd head to a corporate store and try explaining your situation ASAP Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

I forgot to mention that we have version iPhone 4 in our household too(work phone), and comparing 3g speeds my nexus has better average speeds but the middle of the night optimal speed hours (12am-3am) the version phone wins out by 100kbs. However call quality really seems superior on sprint(yes even on the non data phone we have ). Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk -
Considering switching to Sprint and looking for input

I switched right at the start of January from at&t. I'm in the Missouri market and a week ago I went across state to Kansas city (through some very rural areas) and I had one brief 30 second period where I roamed. Everywhere else I had LTE 98% of the time and the brief time I was on 3g I was seeing 2mbs+ speeds(totally usable). The only place I get lackluster speeds is my house (edge of service in a rural area, plus I'm serviced by three towers that I don't believe are upgraded from the looks of the equipment). I'm happier on sprint than I ever was on at&t, I average 7-8gigs of data a month on my 3g speeds at home with some LTE usage when I'm out places. Now I swapped about a week or two before framily became a the main plan so I can't comment on that aspect. Once your city/area gets completed to the state that Kansas city has been I highly doubt you'll have a single complaint (LTE speeds above 10mbs all day including peak hours. Signal everywhere I went). I'm really excited by the quality of sprints end result (before 800lte and such is out), even without the spark update they blew my experience with at&t out of the water. Well I love my nexus 5, so far it seems to be the best rf performer. Plus its just all around a great phone. My sole complaint would be that the spark update hasn't arrived yet . Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Samsung Galaxy S5 Announced - Launch Date 4/11/14
kojitsari replied to illest_ios's topic in Samsung
Read the past 10 pages or so. It turned into a bit of a negative pissing match between people who are too lazy to use the search function and those who that upsets. I bet someone finally decided that it was more trouble than its worth . Oh I also forgot the people complaining about billing issues and reps(not helpful complaining, more unnecessary rage bashing..).This is just my impartial observation/assumption. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk -
This option seems the most clean and pleasing to the eye. Basically what I was trying to get at earlier (except expressed a lot better ). Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

You could think of it as putting premium gas in a car, for say a tank or two, that you've been putting regular gas in since you've owned it. Things aren't going to go well for you or you engine. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Honestly the applecare people arent that bright... Common sense dictates its not healthy for it, why else are there warning labels that state maximum safe voltages? Actually I think it says on the box or in the little paperwork packet they give you to only use chargers specific to your device... Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
