  1. Random question for Mike or anyone who can answer. I live right in between three/four city limits. Lately when watching signal check its been switching between 4 different tower locations(from 1x, I don't know If the same tower is the one I'm getting 3g from or not). Sometimes its parked on one for 5-10 seconds then switched, other times it connects then immediately swaps. So my actual question is: is my phone actually switching signals like SignalCheck is reporting, or is it a bug/quirk? Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  2. If they do release a bigger screen they're going to either do it without making the device bigger. Or they're going to have two models of the 6/6c(or whatever they call the plastic one). A lot of people like iPhones because they are palm sized, actually I can't name a single person I've met that has an iPhone that'd be happy if they went bigger (without keeping the current size as an option). Cracked G2...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2671529 Here's a thread with a link to a seller on amazon someone had success with. Also had some good tips for doing it yourself from the little I read. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  4. Yup, the network chooses which band to shunt you to. You'll sit on b25 instead of 26, unless you can't get b25 signal or the b25 you're getting is too overburdened/unusable. Then the network will plop you on b26. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  5. Not a problem, its nice to know my random just in case research actually pays off sometimes. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

    Cracked G2...

LG is 180(I think from what I've read on XDA). Not sure how much Sprint would charge, if they'd do it. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  7. Do you think it could be that some of us could just be in areas where our towers are overburdened, and that's why we're experiencing it but not others? I have noticed when I'm actually in St Louis/the metro area its doesn't occur (or its actually not noticeable to the user) Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  8. If you'd rather keep your warranty apparently LG will do it for under 200(it was less than 200 for a G2, and I'd assume a nexus 5 would be cheaper). Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  9. There's an XDA thread where this has been discussed. There's a link for a place to buy parts and alternative suggestions in it. Its called water damage, under the nexus 5 section. Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2638138 Here's a link to the thread. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  10. I use chrome and Firefox. I've done a bit of research on my own(I experience this on LTE and 3g, I use 5-15GBs a month), Sprint apparently compresses images to conserve bandwidth. Only on non HTTPS websites, so apps/sites like Facebook aren't affected by this. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  11. Sorta, but its still has to do with the cost of the new plans versus the old ones. Its just related more towards the hardware cost side of the plans(which is going to be probably the biggest hurdle for these new plans). Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  12. Honestly when it comes to their mobile devices(excluding the iPad) they're competitively priced for what you get. Computers are a whole different story, but I'm digressing. With all of these new plans I'm curious to see how apple responds with their prices. Will they cut quality down to save profit margins? Or will they stick with the current one higher end model, one lower end(5c) model strategy and lower them both a bit? The whole those who want quality will pay for it strategy that pushes so many popular branded items. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  13. Oh I know you get teased for it, but I had a 3gs and 5 because until I found the nexus 5 they were the best designed phone IMO(once jail broken of course ). I can tell the difference between an isheep and someone who has one for legitimate reasons. Plus if you were an isheep you'd have gone full flammer on a few things I said awhile ago . 14. Honestly I'm going to enjoy watching the people who buy phones purely for the brand(iherd people), not for valid reasons, freak out when they realize how overpriced what they want actually is. I'm not bashing apple or anything, I'm just referencing the fact that the majority of those who own apple products just get them so they can be cool people who own them. They don't buy them because they've set standards for technology and a more refined design. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  15. I fully agree with you. I was just pointing out that the main reason people are complaining is because they feel like its going to cost them more, when in reality the sticker price will drop and we should end up with more nexus like devices. Higher quality at a lower price. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  16. If they are willing to reduce the price of the flagship phones from $700-550ish, then I see the end of subsidies being a huge hit. For instance with the nexus being the price it is I'd have gladly hopped on framily if it'd had been available. The sticker shock of how much flagship phones actually cost is going to be the main road bump for the average consumer IMO. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  17. If you're rooted there's a option in gravity box for a meter. It shows live up and down(or you can select just down), you can even hide it until an active data session occurs. It helps me gauge when a text is incoming(data drops to 0B/s for bit). Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  18. Has anyone tried the new Furnace kernel over on XDA? Its supposedly the first to give full RGB control. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  19. I told you I'd get around to upgrading . Now that I have confirmed which tower is my home tower I'm going to go check some permits and see if this sucker is going to light up with LTE soon . All these new features are great, thanks Mike! Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  20. What about a VPN, for instance Hola? Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  21. Have you tried using YouTube in a browser and seeing if you can select HD on 3g? Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  22. I took a trip to KC(both sides of the border) a few weeks ago and I had by far the best cellular experience I've ever had. I had usable LTE (usually over 12mbs down, but always at least in sprints advertised range) everywhere I went, excluding one cave that I went in. However I had almost 3mbs down on 3g, so it didnt impact me at all. The funny thing is that I just saw an acceptance report the other day that said they had over 400 acceptances, its hard to think of it getting any better O.O. Edit: This was a pure b25 experience too, I didn't see any b41 or b26 on my n5(I have the bands enabled but we don't have the spark update yet). Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  23. From a Google/XDA search, nope. Developers seem to think its possible but I couldn't find anything that was made. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  24. At least Google maps hasn't tried to kill anyone like apple maps did when it was in its early days after release. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
