  1. Downside of art is longer boot time while it compiles apps. Much better performance once this is done though. Longer first boot times are gonna be the norm
  2. Direct link https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
  3. Yeah that's definitely true, but for now band 12 is only lightly loaded so 4+12 CA is very common.
  4. T-Mobile's network is configured to do CA with the PCC as band 4/2 OR 12. Typically when both bands are in range 4 is configured as the PCC and 12 as the SCC.
  5. Closer reading also reveals that they never said T-Mobile would have $10B to bring to the auction. The article doesn't bring up the $10B figure once, so I think that's a typo...
  6. That's network side load balancing, not the phone. Once the phone is on LTE the network tells it what band to connect to based on what the UE reports is available. Sprint probably needs to tweak their load balancing parameters slightly, but B41 is preferred whenever it's available.
  7. Yep, that's the typical EARFCN for the 2nd carrier. Highly likely that CA is active as well.
  8. I was surprised to see it posted because the Las Vegas results are still listed as "coming soon" Didn't take the down before it hit the reddits though http://www.reddit.com/r/sprint/comments/3myqnh/_/
  9. Nee blog post about Las Vegas RootMetrics testing http://newsroom.sprint.com/blogs/sprint-perspectives/one-step-back-ten-steps-forward.htm
  10. Android L does this by default with no option to disable it. The difference is on Android its indicated by an exclamation point over the WiFi icon and showing the mobile data indicator.
  11. Dish's PCS H block spectrum is a mess. It has to deal with power restrictions because it is adjacent to AWS-4 uplink and needs a new band created for LTE. Neither Sprint nor any other carrier wants to deal with those issues.
  12. 4x4MIMO is not possible on 700 because there is not enough spatial diversity on the handset side.
  13. It's official, Sprint will not be participating in the 600MHz auction. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-09-26/sprint-won-t-join-2016-airwave-auction-saying-network-is-ample
  14. LTE is more fragile by design. It trades the larger coverage area for higher order modulation and thus higher throughput.
  15. 4x2MIMO and wider LTE channels on AWS does that. Sprint runs 2x2 on band 25 and also since it's only a 5x5MHz carrier it is more susceptible to interference. Only band 41 has higher order MIMO and beamforming.
  16. Ntelos is soon to be shentel.. the purchase won't be finalized until 1H 2016
  17. I just noticed something interesting on the Sprint Global Roaming page. It says that speeds are up to 2G @ 64KBps. Notice the capital B, which would indicate they're using kilobytes/s as the units. I'm not sure if this is just a typo or not, but that translates into 512kilobits/s, much faster than T-Mobile's 128kilobits/s
  18. The map is kind of confusing at the moment. Check out the roaming+ thread http://www.s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/7203-Sprint-Roaming+---Coverage-Map-Update
  19. http://www.newsweek.com/2015/09/25/tmobile-ceo-john-legere-torched-cellphone-industry-rules-372157.html In this short profile, Legere is quoted as saying, among other things, that if T-Mobile can get more spectrum he'll amp up the competition even more. Just a tip John: stop complaining about lacking spectrum and pay up for it.
  20. https://www.qualcomm.com/news/snapdragon/2015/09/14/snapdragon-820-countdown-breakthrough-lte-and-wi-fi-x12-lte-modem https://www.qualcomm.com/news/releases/2015/09/14/qualcomm-announces-breakthrough-connectivity-features-snapdragon-820 The new X12 LTE modem supports the following: 3 carrier downlink aggregation (CAT12 600Mbps) 2 carrier uplink aggregation (CAT13 150Mbps) Up to 256QAM modulation on downlink 4x4MIMO for a single downlink carrier LTE-U LWA (LTE-WiFi aggregation) 802.11ac 2x2 MU-MIMO 802.11ad It also has built it handling of WiFi and LTE connections to automatically pick the best connection based on current network conditions.
  21. Sprint's new coverage map shows much expanded spark coverage in the Metro East. Can anyone confirm this is the case?
  22. Yeah, that's Denver... Published on the 7th. There are a lot of airport reports out right now too.
