Well I just found another strange thing... The data speed reports on speedtest.net don't match netindex at all. This makes no sense since Ookla uses data from speedtest to construct netindex. http://www.speedtest.net/isp/t-mobile-usa http://www.speedtest.net/isp/verizon-wireless
-
So how is T-Mobile claiming they have the fastest LTE network when NetIndex, which Legere so often loves to point to for proof of their data faster speeds, puts Verizon over T-Mobile? http://www.netindex.com/mdownload/2,1/United-States/ In fact, going back in time in Net Index Explorer, I can't find a time where T-Mobile was averaging faster data speeds than Verizon on a national basis.

Something is seriously wrong with the site logger, at least for me. I turned it on before a drive today, and after returning home I found only 1 site logged from the drive, and I know I hit at least 6 sites. I'm not sure if this was just my device or if it's an actual bug in signal check. I'm running the latest beta version.

$361mil is great for one quarter, but they aren't consistently posting that much profit. Last quarter they posted a $64mil. Also, if you look at last year, they posted the greatest profit of the year in Q2 at $391mil, preceded by Q1 with $154mil loss and followed by $93mil loss and then a $101mil profit. They did show a substantial increase in revenues this quarter, so that's a good sign. It remains to be seen if they can post successive quarters with profits matching Q2 performance.

LTE has integrated SMS support. RCS is a completely separate technology.
-
Not expensive, time consuming. Integrating it seamlessly into the network, developing software for the servers, deploying and testing takes months.
-
It's not a "simple software update." RCS requires implementation on the network side, and that's not simple.

Guy over at HoFo is has discovered 3 new LTE 700 only T-Mobile sites in Northern MI. Linked to the most interesting post in the thread. Kind of a shame that they are L700 only because non-band 12 device owners are SOL. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1867580-Northern-MI-T-Mobile-buildout-has-begun!?p=15994682#post15994682

Is there anybody out in Columbia who can tell me how service is there? I have a international friend who is moving there to attend school and he's looking for a prepaid carrier for his time in the US. He has a CDMA capable Nexus 5 so all carriers are on the table.

Like I said... Really makes me wonder if they set up a microcell in that area just for speedtest purposes... That was there official sponsor showcase area after all.
-
All carriers were just about even... maybe even within a margin of error.
-
Probably didn't see much adoption from consumers.

Embedded in text at the bottom of the video Hardly a massive victory by any means. All carriers have a DAS at GABP, and there were probably many COWs for each carrier. Also, since testing locations were set up by T-Mobile employees, you have to wonder if they set them in locations where T-Mobile would perform the best.... Another note on RCS, Sprint actually implemented RCS based communications with "Messaging Plus" in 2013. This was based on RCS release 5.1. It was abandoned since then, as the most recent phone to support it is the iPhone 5. http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/sprint-goes-ott-messaging-plus-app-jibe/2013-10-14 http://newsroom.sprint.com/news-releases/messaging-plus-makes-it-easier-than-ever-for-sprint-customers-to-connect-and-share-with-friends-and-family-on-any-carrier.htm https://shop.sprint.com/mysprint/services_solutions/details.jsp?detId=messaging_plus&catId=service_communication&catName=Communication&detName=Messaging%20Plus&specialCat=#!/

T-Mobile is launching RCS with the Galaxy Grand Prime and later the S5/S6 via a software update http://newsroom.t-mobile.com/news/advanced-messaging.htm
