The marketing aspect of it would be tough for retail, honestly. You will have a bunch of single band LTE phones that won't be "good enough" after a sales associate explains and talks up the amazing benefits of triband LTE and recent customers who will be pissed after just buying their bogo S4/One and Moto X along with stock just sitting because everyone will want triband. I just have a feeling that once the G2 comes out, there will be little to no emphasis on it. It will be all about the 2.3ghz processor, huge screen, funky buttons, etc..

I am thinking that Sprint won't mention it. I have a feeling they will just have triband quietly slither in like a spectrum ninja in the night. They probably figure 90% of the customer base don't know or don't understand what a band is or its purpose so they don't want to confuse the product line with "These do triband but those over there don't".

I thought that was already more or less confirmed earlier in this thread from a couple of sources. I wish it would be earlier, too, but chances are likely I will end up with another phone other than the g2 since my upgrade was up a few months ago and my phone is dying fast. Hopefully the Note 3, S4 mini or Nexus 5 will be out sooner than November.

Changes Coming to GPS Navigation on Oct 1
The Dave replied to NightShift's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
I never understood why someone would use telenav over google maps navigation. The app is so bloated, slow and crashes often. I just wish you could delete it off of your phone. As the Sprint page shows, you can still use navigation with a variety of free apps, but telenav isn't supported anymore.- 21 replies

I usually talk on my phone and surf on my iPad. I want Triband LTE so I can actually get an LTE signal indoors and some TD-LTE goodness. I feel that is a higher priority for most people over SVLTE. Besides, if you drop LTE when you are indoors because your 1900 MHz PCS LTE couldn't penetrate, that SVLTE would be useless to you, anyway.

From what I understand, the system can automatically detect an issue with a site as part of the design. I imagine that when a problem occurs, it is kept within the engineering/network side of the company and they probably don't notify call centers or retail stores that deal with the customer interaction.

A prl update a day keeps the Sprint customer care away.

Asia's TD-LTE, LTE Advanced networks deliver scorching speeds
The Dave replied to Rawvega's topic in General Topics
This can go either really well or really poorly.. -
I had a dream last night that I was in Jacksonville and picked up a 800 mhz signal on Signal Check while driving and was frantically trying to report it in the Jacksonville market threat but I couldn't get a screen capture. I need to seriously limit the amount of time I spend here before bed..

The Genesis was one of the best consoles I have ever owned. I know they weren't as popular, but once I got the Sega CD/32x combo for it, I was in gaming nirvana. Also, how amazing was it when you got Sonic and Knuckles and you could replay every Sonic game with Knuckles. Until the Gamecube came out, I was pretty much sold on the Sega/Nintendo combination. I feel that with the NGC, Nintendo has began to fall into irrelevance on the hardware side.

tower in queue for upgrade
The Dave replied to danlodish345's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
I seriously hope he still had his pants on when he got off the phone. -
That's what I assumed with my Evo 3D. I know if I sit on the 4g screen and keep hitting scan it just destroys my battery. What would be nice is if the phone detects a better signal and can measure the strength and possibly have a routine to watch it over a period of a user defined time (like pick from 30 secs, 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes) and it stays stable, it should automatically switch to that band. Of course, it's easy to say it would be a good feature but how possible would it be to implement?
-
I always wondered that with WiMAX. If I don't deliberately force it to scan for 4G when I know it's available, it will just sit there on 3G indefinitely.

Sprint LTE Coverage Maps via Sensorly
The Dave replied to S4GRU's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
I was looking at the Sprint CDMA maps last night and noticed some blue along with the green. It says Sprint 2G. It is around the town that my dad lives in that doesn't have Sprint service. Does this mean that Sprint now has some 2G service or is it showing roaming as Sprint 2G? I've also been mapping out lots of empty spots in St Augustine. The coverage seems to be added within minutes of driving by. I am liking this more and more. I can't wait to get an LTE phone and adding to that map. -
current LTE towers question
The Dave replied to illest_ios's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
I have only been near two towers that have been upgraded. I don't have an LTE phone yet, so my experience is with the 3G side. So far, both towers got worse for a few days after being upgraded. I would roam off and on, get really erratic signals and just a lot of network busy or dropped calls. After a week or so, it then gets solid and life moves on. The tower at my house is 3G/4G accepted and it is solid as death, but next to my work is just 4G accepted and my 3G is a little worse on the upload side with my signal jumping around between ~-79 and -103. I am also in an Ericsson market. -
Sprint TD-LTE 2500/2600mhz Discussion
The Dave replied to IamMrFamous07's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
I haven't heard anything. I have a feeling that we will be seeing 800 mhz going live before we start seeing new 2.5/2.6 ghz. -
I barely fit my 4.3" Evo with Otter Box case in my back pocket. I wear size 29-30, though. I might need a chain for my next phone..
