  1. I am looking forward to this phone also. I had the first note and loved it but had to get the S3 when my son broke my screen. I wanted the Note II but it was not out in time. Now I have managed to break my S3 screen and do not want to make the same mistake again. I do hope the Note 3 comes with a 32GB option. The 16 is just too small. it is impossible to load movies and things on it for offline use with so little space. Play movies does not allow you to use the SD card for storage.
  2. I went to to the zoo in DC the other day and was excited I saw some 4G love. Unfortunately it did not last long as the signal was real weak. My poor phone exhausted its battery in about 3-4 hours and was hot as heck. I guess we were right on the edges and it kept looking and switching signals. Still I was excited to see it as I don't actually go into DC that often. I stay more on Alexandria, Fairfax areas which I see more and more popping up.
  3. At least they gave Sprint some credit for the improvements.
  4. Anyone else in the Old Town Alexandria area notice the LTE signal disappearing the last few days? I have had LTE by my work for at least a month if not two albeit a little on the week side but suddenly I am getting all 3g. Just wondering if others are seeing the same thing?
  5. Honestly, would anyone else in their right mind even take the position?
  6. I would disagree. It seems over the last few weeks things have been lighting up. I don't go into actual DC but stay on the outskirts. I am starting to see the 4G icon on a lot more. I spend most of my time in Alexandria and have noticed increased presence of 4G there specifically.
  7. I was able to map a little further down Duke St in Old town Alexandria. At the edge where I was mapping I had to cycle airplane mode to get it to find LTE, I guess due to the week signal there.
  8. This may be one of those silly "Did you check you power cord" comments, but did you verify your phone is in LTA/CDMA mode instead of just CDMA. My S3 came defaulted to CDMA only.
  9. I got my first taste of it today at the BJ's in Alexandria. It looked like that area was recently mapped on sensorly but I did not realize it. Boy was it nice.
  10. Remember just because there is a blip on sensorly does not mean it is still broadcasting. It could of been caught while they were testing but since of been blocked. I was doing a bunch on mapping yesterday while driving on 495 where there is purple but got no sign of it yesterday. I was not able to cycle my phone but I did confirm I was in CDMA/LTE mode.
  11. Me too. I thought since we are in one of the announced work in progress markets that whey would be unblocking them as they go.
  12. You could make the argument that Samsung is doing the same thing releasing a S3 that did not also support GSM when the tech is already there to do that.
  13. AS much as I hate to say it, I may have to at least look at it also. We are in need of phones that work on Sprint and good international coverage and since the S3 does not have the GSM support for the Sprint version. This will be the only modern non slider that has good international coverage through Sprint for the time being.
  14. After seeing some of Roberts notes yesterday I am guessing that previously stated by "End of 2013" is going to be slipping. By how much I have no idea though but he made the comment they only hit 50% of what they had expected to complete by the end of last month. I am guessing we will have to wait for another month of data to see if that was an anomaly or the new normal.
  15. Very nice article I thought. It was a little harsh but I think many people deserve it. I also appreciate Archon's comments. You really brought up a good counter point and I thought delivered it without drama.
  16. I would have to agree on this one. I was just at their site thinking there is really nothing about their 4G network here and thought it was a fail. Then I went and saw everyone else reporting on it and all of the negative and came to the conclusion also that it would be to soon for to much focus on it. I think they could do a better job of saying it is underway but need to be careful as there are way to many ignorant people out there.
  17. Is LTE capable of SVLTE from the start or is that a future upgrade of the network and device?
  18. Thank you very much, that does help a lot. That site will be perfect for me as I see it has many of the other definitions I was looking for.
  19. I am really trying to grasp everything in all of these threads but do keep coming up to questions about all of the terminology. What would be the best place to decipher everything? I did some searching but could not really find anything summed up in one place. I have found various things scattered but it seems everything I think I understand something else comes up and gets me all mixed up again. It is hard to tell which terms are upgrades of same technology vs. a totally new technology. For instance I am trying to figure out PCS1900 vs CDMA in 800 band or 800SMR bands? I know the lower frequency typically gets through buildings better but where does the difference in PCS versus CDMA come in? Is CDMA800 the same thing as the SMR 850 but just a different frequency or is it totally different technology on different frequencies?
  20. For me this is a Pro. I don't know why but I prefer a physical home button still.
  21. This is not just Sprint. My work uses all AT&T phones and very few were getting calls over the weekend. I have also been talking to people with Verizon and they are also having pockets of outages too.
  22. I love my Note however I think the 5.5 size may be a bit much. I think about 5" is the perfect size actually. One of the reasons I love the Android ecosystem is for choices. We have choices of different vendors, button layouts, roms, screen sizes, audio capabilities. I do think we are starting to lose some of that choice. It seems all of these flag ship phones just keep getting bigger and bigger but think we are forgetting about the people that want a phone with the new features and radio band support but still prefer a smaller screen. I wish Sammy or others would come out with a flagship S3 and S3-Mini at similiar times. The mini would still retain the most of the features but be a smaller screen and have a smaller battery. Some users that I have here at the office would switch to Android but may stay iPhone because they prefer a screen around 4" instead of a phablet.
