  1. By spending the billions to buy T-Mobile, I know that does one thing, it gets rid of a company, they're out of the way. They don't need them, they just want them gone. IMHO.
  2. Why not 'a massive pricewar' before? or instead of? Is what I don't understand. Massive is a very subjective word too, it could mean $1 off plans, it could mean anything. Sprint has been raising prices over the last year, raising rates and raising fees, but they just don't have the coverage or quality of service of the big two to justify these prices. People expect less and pay less. I don't see the connection.
  3. That is nice and all, but as far them wanting to buy T-Mobile USA, I don't see the connection between the two? (not pointed at you Howard, them) Can someone explain why they 'just have to buy t-mobile' to do all this good for the country?
  4. I agree, stop making the phones thinner, make one the same thickness with a better battery. The Motorola Max on VZW is a nice product like this. http://www.motorola.com/us/shop-all-mobile-phones-1/Droid-Maxx/m-droid-maxx.html
  5. How? If there is no network, Sprint and T-Mobile don't have a chance of bypassing AT&T or VZW. That rootmetrics report looks pretty accurate to me from my experience with all 4 networks. The T-Mobile CEO is living in a dreamland, or just using his acting/advertising skills to shout to his boys.
  6. Good point, as it seems every other tower has LTE here in the cities. But I have found that I get 3G or LTE, in areas where the towers are quite far apart. In Seattle/Tacoma they are setup more densely, I hardly go to those places though, haven't experienced it there much. I asked on here before about different towers using the same or different frequencies, I was told they mostly use exactly the same frequency. So in that case, it wouldn't help being on different towers.
  7. Yep, those speed tests were all on LTE, a few months ago they were 20+ Mbps in the same locations. I'm ok with those speeds though, I don't need unlimited data, I don't miss what I've never had. Because they won't activate 800 Mhz for at least a few years, they need to install more 1900 Mhz towers to greatly increase voice/data here in the PNW. I do not know if they're going to do anything like that, they're adding 2500 Mhz LTE but I think that is for data only, so that won't do anything for voice. With the 3/4G towers that been finished or upgraded, the signal is slightly better and reaches slightly further into buildings. What over providers have you tried? I was surprised where I work where T-Mobile's signal was usually next to nothing, I just roamed on them this week (with another phone) and it was almost a full signal, really surprised me there. T-Mobile must be busy in the area. I have an Airave at home also, but I don't have any regular cell coverage there anyway from any current company, I used to have Nextel, but they took down the tower, so that has gone.
  8. Here are a few tests down in Federal Way, around 2pm local time. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/758004699 http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/758004095 They must be selling more LTE phones, as its actually getting noticeably slower, not just the speed tests. The latency is still pretty good though. And when people must have gone home for the evening around 5pm. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/758126338 I got the 'hang in there, we're almost done' text message last month too, like everyone else did. As well as the '$80 per line credit if you renew now' as the contracts are up in a month. The main thing keeping me is the Google integration, haven't decided yet.
  9. Do you think Sprint or T-Mobile are looking into merging with large regional carriers like US Cellular?
  10. Josh isn't including any discounts, keeping everything equal. Monthly fees are fees imposed by Sprint, totally different than taxes.
  11. Include the activation fees, Google purchased devices don't have the fee, all others do. If possible the monthly fees (not taxes).
  12. I see you added more info to the wifi connection. How did you end up getting whether it was a 20 or 40 Mhz connection? I can only see a 20 Mhz connection on my devices. How did you end up getting the (n) ?
  13. With many users, couldn't they be on different channels, and if so, what would be the point of joining channels? Would it get a user anything if more than a few people are using their cells on that tower? On LTE in cities now I get 2Mbps in the daytime, which is fine by me.
  14. I wouldn't believe an Android site. The Sprint site: https://community.sprint.com/baw/community/sprintblogs/announcements/blog/2014/02/21/sprint-launches-wi-fi-calling--expanding-voice-and-messaging-coverage Says where no coverage is available.
  15. Figured out what it was, it was an Amazon MP3 cloud sync notification that for some reason is triggered when opening or closing the SignalCheck app. Not sure why/how/when, no problem though. thanks.
  16. If it becomes an issue with wifi data, add a 'refresh' button along the top next to the config button, to refresh the wifi connection info. At work I use the same SSID that exists on both 2.4 and 5 Ghz, this is why I like this update to give me more info. 65Mbps could indicate an 802.11ac connection maybe, I don't know of any other way to know what it is connected at, although 802.11ac is not very common yet.
  17. Really like the wifi info update! Being able to easily see whether the device is on 2.4/5 Ghz and what channel is great. I installed on a Nexus7-wifi now too for troubleshooting. If possible I'd like to see it say b/g/n/a/ac too. Being able to disable background operation and disable the notification icon is great too, I did see people complaining about that on the store, as they didn't understand the new Android requirements.
  18. Why is that an issue? Wifi only tablets are the most popular. Plus no monthly fees or pretend taxes.
  19. It where there is no Sprint signal as we'd all figured would make the only sense. https://community.sprint.com/baw/community/sprintblogs/announcements/blog/2014/02/21/sprint-launches-wi-fi-calling--expanding-voice-and-messaging-coverage
  20. I have noticed that the speeds are really slowing down in this area, dropping below 1Mbps with LTE in the cities, normal speed is 2Mbps, which an acceptable speed to me. More people must be getting LTE capable phones and since 800 Mhz won't happen here for years, the 1900 Mhz signal is really on the edge in large buildings, I wonder what the future will bring here.
