  1. Bump. 9.1 released yesterday. Apple still currently signing 9.0.2 (that is jailbreakable.) My Iphone 6+ had a camera issue and I needed to have it swapped. Heard that 9.1 was released so I did a quick itunes backup, and went directly to the Apple store to get it swapped. The new phone came with 8.4.1 installed?! Dude went to start updating to 9.1, and I asked him to please hold off and that I would do it at home. Got home, downloaded 9.0.2 IPSW, jailbroke, restored my backup. All is alive and well. No issues whatsoever with the jailbreak. The most time consuming part is giving the phone time to re-download my huge icloud photo library.
  2. No real science behind it, but my device struggles on slow (1-2mbps) LTE connections as well. Disabling LTE (and subsequently grabbing 3G) immediately makes the experience more tolerable. Different note - just checked my usage stats again. July: 25 gigs August: 13 gigs September: 18 gigs So I am on the hairy edge. July was a travel heavy month where we spent a lot of time on the road (and let the kids YouTube/Disney Junior stream) for multiple days. August was not much travel, and was on home wifi often. September was a 'normal' month. Really, this deprioritization thing does not seem like a big deal. I would be interested in hearing a definition on when Sprint considers a site to be congested though.
  3. I had this same issue on IOS 8.4.1. Does the Notification center widget actually work on ios9?
  4. This exactly. I am eligible for an upgrade if I go to a lease or easy-pay. But 'Not Available' for the 2 year contract.
  5. Go hunting! Look at signage. See if there is any mention of anything other than US Cellular.
  6. Same. The network improvements have largely negated my desire to run speed tests. That's a good thing. If I'm in a new (to me) area, I'll run a speed test, but beyond that, I find it's not needed.
  7. By Route 9 where? If the US Cellular coverage map is any indication of the spectrum areas that was sold off to Sprint, then Mackinaw does not fit that bill unfortunately. My uneducated mind says that both Stanford and Danvers were located in the areas in which spectrum was sold to Sprint, but it appears that Mackinaw is not in that area. I know that USCC had a tower on the south side of Route 9 a little before the vineyard, but I do now know what happened to it. I haven't been through that area for well over a year. The only way to know for sure is to drive out there and poke around a little. The way I found out about the tower in my town was that I physically went to the site and saw that some work appeared to be in progress and that there had been a new(er) looking electric meter put in and that it happened to have a printed 'Sprint' sticker next to it.
  8. Standford was an old USCC tower (part of Project Ocean) IIRC, so it is fairly recent. Edit: I believe Danvers was as well.
  9. Marcelos Twitter machine has now been silent for 4+ days. Marci Carris has been silent for even longer. Seems odd, no?
  10. That's a pretty Kim Davis-ish type of thing to say.
  11. Excellent post above techfranz. Going to play with this a bit when I get home
  12. A macro site is what we refer to, in the general sense, as a 'tower.' But they are mounted on buildings and some utility structures (electrical transmission 'towers', water towers, etc.) as well.
  13. Your last sentence is key. At some point, the TMo fanboys got the impression that Legere is their buddy and will perform magic tricks for them. I'm super happy that TMo has stepped up their game, but folks need to not just understand, but truly comprehend that businesses are in the business of making money. No publically traded company makes decisions (on purpose) that will cause them to be less profitable over the long haul.
  14. I wonder the same thing honestly. Buy 10x10 swath of 600mhz... Sell off band 26 spectrum to rural partners at a good rate...?
  15. Installed on my iPad Air. Not overly impressed yet. Seems a bit 'jumpy' and not as smooth. I refuse to lose my jailbreak, so my phone will continue trucking on with 8.3.
  16. Same question from me. That really looks overly optimistic.
  17. I actually had to go look up what MightText was. A quick search online indicates your issue seems to be an issue with 3rd party apps. A Google search specifically mentioned HandCent and GoSMS. If you used Handcent, the 'fix' was to uncheck the option to disable other message notification. For GoSMS it was to go to Settings / Advanced| / Recieve Settings / Disable other message notification. Then reboot. Not sure if MightyText has a setting like, but it may be worth checking.
  18. This makes my brain hurt. So if you want a new iPhone each year, you are doling out $264 over the course of a year for that ability (plus it's not 'your' phone?) Vs paying $200 for a phone on a 2 year 'contract' and then you 'own' the phone? I always do the 2 year contract thing, and frankly have not looked into the other options. Guess I should research more...?
  19. When I leave the country - I turn WIFI calling on. But I've found, anywhere in the states, its easiest to leave it off. I frequently find myself on a wifi call, and walking somewhere, and dropping wifi signal. In these cases, its just easier to let the cell network handle the voice aspect so I dont drop calls if I walk between buildings/outside.
