My assumption is that anyone not currently at 20.1 can simply do a ##update# and get the new carrier settings...? I did a ##update# after I jailbroke yesterday, but never did check to see if the carrier updated at that time. I can now assume that it did.

I am on 8.3, now jailbroken, and I see my Carrier is Sprint 20.1. *shrug*

Same here. Entire family is still on an old ED1500 plan. Averaging across all 4 lines, we each consume 5-6gb per month. Much of that data is streaming kids video (disney, youtube, etc) when we are out and about or camping where wifi is not available. If that data was limited to 600 kbps, it would absolutely be painful. I am a bigger fan of throttling back at times of heavy tower loading for ALL users rather than the absolute 600 kbps limit that appears to be in place for these 'new' plans. What a joke.

shaferz replied to nahum365's topic in Apple/iPhone/iOS
Got a little punchy today and upgraded to 8.3 + jailbroke. Completely forgot that CellularInfo is not working. megahugesadface.jpeg. -
One additional comment Arysyn - Please drop the entire health crap. Please drop the nearly constant mentions of your mother. I'm not trying to be rude but its old, and quite frankly, we don't care. Its not that we don't care in a personal sense. Its that we don't care to continue to read it over, and Over, and OVER. We all have barriers to get over and challenges to face - you are not unique. Example - I have type 1 diabetes and am tied to an insulin pump 24 hours a day. Have I EVER mentioned that before on this message board? No. Nobody cares. This is not the place. I can not speak for the rest of the members here, nor staff, but simply reading and abiding the above would earn you much more respect from the side of the computer in which I am sitting.

That's what this lady mentioned. Largest employer was now a university? I chuckled a bit and she said that included 'University' hospital(s). ROC airport is comfortable at least

Had a good talk with some folks from the area. They mentioned Kodak and Bausch and Lomb massive layoffs in the past 10-15 years that essentially turned the city into a dump. Too bad - because it seems like it could be, or at least used to be, a really nice area.

Have spent the past two days in Rochester, and overall, I cant say that I am overly impressed. Admittedly, my 'home area' is extremely strong for Sprint, but Rochester seems pretty rough. At my clients office now, somewhere between 490 and the airport. Service is very good. 25mb Down/13mb Up. Hotel is the Strathallan DoubleTree. I'm facing away from East Ave, and in my 8th floor room, LTE is basically unusable. Next week am going to get a room facing the opposite direction and will see how that goes. Rochester is a weird area. From what I've seen in my 2 days and limited travel here - it seems to be either very low income areas (near the airport and clients office) or what appear to be upper income areas where the restaurants have dress codes. Went to the rooftop bar last night at the hotel. Was dressed in a work-logo'd button-down shirt and grey slacks and felt under dressed. 3/4 of the people in there had on sport coats or straight up suits. WTFMATE? Only place I felt 'comfortable' was a bar called Murphy's Law. On a cellphone-related-note, my phone kept bouncing back to 3G there, and we sat right next to the open windows.

If Apple wants to take Spotify customers, they need to have a script that will parse your playlist data from Spotify and mimic it on Apple Music. The only attractive thing to me about Apple Music is the 'family plan'

b25 second carrier -
Another easy way I've found in this area is to simply look for the base stations on the ground. The Samsung equipment in this area is equipment that I have yet to see any other carrier around here use. Pretty distinguishable. edit: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/3906-how-to-spot-sprint-antennas-and-rrus-samsung/ Bottom picture on the first post.

I'm pretty sure the only tower in town is still a USCC tower. On 122 just west of town. I was in Stanford a few months ago, and there is a tower there on the south end of town, that looked like a previously owned USCC tower, but had Vertical Bridge signs on it. Vertical Bridge is who bought a lot of the USCC towers throughout the area where USCC sold Spectrum to Sprint. If you are out in the area again - go check the tower out and see if it has Sprint equipment now!

Go into the phone dialer and dial: *3001#12345#* On the screen that loads (will say 'Field Test' at the top,) you will want to tap on 'Serving Cell Info'. On the screen that loads after you click on 'Serving Cell Info', you want to look for Freq Band Indicator. If it says 25 - you are connected to LTE on 1900mhz. If it says 26 - you are connected to LTE on 800mhz. If it says 41 - you are connected to LTE on 2500mhz - THIS ONE IS SPARK. Balancing is handled by the base stations, so the tower can effectively 'hand you off' to whatever band it deems necessary at that time. Example: in my house, I get mostly band 26, with the occasional band 25. If I walk outside, my phone will bounce between all 3 bands depending on where I'm standing in my yard. You should be able to get spark most places there - as evidenced by the Sprint Coverage map.

This precisely. New tower went live in my town about 2-3 weeks ago. We are at the 'edge' of being between sectors - and the tower is 1 mile away as a the crow flies. Fair amount of trees blocking view of the tower between it and our house. We have unplugged the airave and will send it back to Sprint. Inside of my house - even in the basement - we get 1-2 bars of B25/B26 LTE. Initial impression is that your cellular signal is low - but that is not the case. As soon as you go to make a phone call, and the phone switches back to the CDMA side, signal immediately pegs to 4-5 bars - and calls are crystal clear. I am extremely happy with the service here now - really negates the need for an Airave.

Agree with Vince - it at least seems like there has been a bit of a lull overall lately. I think partly due to no major Iphone news, and honestly - Sprints network improvements continue to impress. If anyone else here is much like me - we initially joined the site because we were fed up with Sprints terrible network - and we wanted to have some insight as to tower/network improvements. My 'visit S4GRU every hour or so' has now been reduced to once or twice a day. Ever since the 'home' tower was finally flipped on - I find myself needing to find a new hobby. To stay on topic though - I'm not sure I could ever let go of my 6+.
