  1. And I have lots of updates to post for this week. Many miles before I sleep... Robert via Nexus 7 with Tapatalk HD
  2. I am back logged on Boston updates. There are quite a few coming this week. Robert via Nexus 7 with Tapatalk HD

  4. Yes, Network Vision upgrades has started in the Louisiana Sprint market, which Lake Charles is in. Over in our Sponsor section we show maps of sites a that have been accepted as complete. For more info about becoming an S4GRU Sponsor, you can check out this link: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1195-information-about-s4gru-sponsorship-levels-and-how-to-become-a-sponsor/ Robert via Nexus 7 with Tapatalk HD
  5. This one was just accepted yesterday. We added it to the Sponsor maps last night. Glad to see some Knoxville activity now. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  6. There are quite a few Miami market sites I need to add. I'm way behind. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk

  9. There really is no normal ping for EVDO. EVDO ping is dependent on two things, the airlink saturation and backhaul. Here is a little understanding of EVDO pings... EVDO ping time is based on two things, airlink speed and backhaul speed. So the total ping is airlink ping in milliseconds plus backhaul ping in milliseconds. These two together is what you are essentially seeing in your speed tests. If you have EVDO connected to backhaul that is running around 2-10ms, and the EVDO airlink is under 50%, then the total throughout ping could be as low as 50-60ms. Because the airlink portion is going to be 50ms alone, 25 each way in ideal circumstances, and you add the backhaul ping and the airlink ping together and get a total ping. However, an EVDO carrier that is between 50% to 100% capacity, the airlink portion alone will be 75-200ms. And then you add the backhaul ping. Which could be 2ms to 100ms itself in normal circumstances. So, all of these above would be normal EVDO operation pings. So EVDO can operate normally between approximately 50ms - 300ms ping times. However, once over capacity, all bets are off. If the EVDO carrier is over capacity, and the air link gets saturated, then your data has to wait its turn to go through the airlink, so to speak. And this can push pings way up. Even over 1000ms (one second). Also, if the backhaul gets saturated, the same thing happens on that end...your data has to wait its turn before going through the pipe. Causing delay, and longer pings. Hopefully all this makes sense. Robert via Nexus 7 with Tapatalk HD

  11. I think Tmo only has one carrier deployed in our area. There are some sites that I think are dual carrier in Santa Fe and ABQ, because these will reach 23-25Mbps at off peak times. I'm sure NYC has better density and more carriers per site than NM. Robert via Nexus 7 with Tapatalk HD
  12. Did you see the first NV site accepted in St. Louis the other day? It's starting! Robert via Nexus 7 with Tapatalk HD
  13. Sprint customer service folks are a problem. They are grossly under educated. They do not know what they're looking at half the time. I don't know how many have reported NV is under way in a market because they see legacy upgrades. This is Sprint's fault. They need to train much better. It's unfortunate, but you cannot trust anything any employee says about future network upgrades. The only thing you can hold carriers accountable to is what they release publicly. And they still may have problems meeting it. Delays happen. It's life. If we cannot live with the delays, we send a message by taking our money elsewhere. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  14. You're a fool if you trust commissioned sales people. Can I interest you in a used car? Verizon sales people were telling folks in April 2011 when the Thunderbolt came out that LTE would arrive here in a few months. It showed up December 2012. People were upgrading to their next phone. Commissioned sales people. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  15. By my experiences, Tmo HSPA+ on AWS has noticeably less indoor signal strength than Sprint EVDO on PCS. But it's pretty similar to Sprint LTE on 1900. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  16. Two months ago, I completely agreed with this. However, I've been watching Tmo HSPA+ speeds drop drastically here in New Mexico. Most likely from adding back unlimited data. There will be a stark difference between LTE and HSPA+ at peak times. Especially in the beginning. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  17. I found Tmo LTE in Albuquerque this week. But it would not authenticate. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  18. Right now Sprint is deploying network upgrades in NH. But currently they are only working on GMO sites, which will not initially include LTE. Full build sites with LTE will not begin deployment until this summer. However, there will be sites live before the end of the year. Mostly in the urban/suburban parts of southern part of the state. 19. They have upgraded all the equipment at USVI sites. Just waiting on backhaul to fire 'em up. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  20. And I'm disappointed you mentioned WiMax. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  21. And the first St. Louis site conversion. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  22. Difference in vendors. Every vendor is installing both 3G and LTE equipment at each site at the same time. However, the 3G upgrades have to be brought online in clusters. LTE does not need to be brought online in clusters. So Samsung and Ericsson decided to bring up their LTE first. Alcatel Lucent decided to bring up their 3G clusters first and then come back and bring up LTE. I'm not certain of the reasons behind the decision. It's just the way every AlcaLu market has been, except Norfolk, Raleigh/Durham and Charlotte. Robert via Nexus 7 with Tapatalk HD
  23. I was referring to actual site equipment installation in my post. But yes, backhaul is underway too. Robert via Nexus 7 with Tapatalk HD
  24. Did you notice that after these DISH meetings with the FCC, the FCC leaks came out that they expected Softbank to be able to close the deal in May. Seems like a message is being sent despite DISH objections. Charlie is high maintenance, drama and an egomaniacal control freak who wants to underpay for everything. Sprint is very fortunate that Softbank came along and they don't have to get in bed with this winner. Robert via Nexus 7 with Tapatalk HD
