iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus User Thread

CellularInfo is powered by some private APIs in the CoreTelephony framework. They can be accessed rather easily from any iOS app. However, apps that access private APIs won't pass the Apple App Store Review process. So if I attempted to submit CellularInfo to the App Store right now, it would get rejected instantly.

That's why I'm currently distributing it as a "beta" app using my 100 developer device registrations. That way I can get it on devices without going through the App Store review process.

So, in short: the current beta of CellularInfo is the "non-JB" version. I can't make a "final non-JB" version. :(

Lol I'm gonna take over Apple and become it's CEO. Gimme 10 Years lol I'll change the App Store Review process for all the developers who genuinely care and want to make Apps that people will love and use.

You guys ever heard about the App called Launcher or Quick-Tap. Apple took these Apps out of the App Store because they apparently violated Apples App protocols but it wasn't written anywhere that you couldn't put widgets that open other apps in the App store. Apple is just an extreme control freak. It never affected me until I downloaded launcher and quick tap and found that they're function is very very useful.

Here's my Notification Center with Launcher and Quick-Tap. f24751b92ebc1e716928163932ab771f.jpg

The thing is, when you control every aspect of the system, you're allowed to make up rules as you go. Those apps use an API that was created by Apple specifically to allow developers to open other applications from their own apps ("URL Schemes" + UIApplication's openURL method). Those widgets literally just opened URLs. You can even try it for yourself: go into Safari and navigate to "instagram://" or "twitter://". Apparently opening URLs is now a violation of App Store "guidelines". And by guidelines they mean strict boundaries that change constantly. It doesn't make sense, but I guess that's what Apple is known for lol.

That must be annoying when you're trying to make something. It's like you're going in blind; you spend all this time and money just to be denied by Apple because of these "guidelines".

I feel like Apple declines Apps like launcher because maybe in a future iOS update they're going to bring that feature or a similar feature like it to the Notification Center.

Maybe. They're pretty strict about that.

Good luck though!

Yeah Ik. If they don't let me get it then, when I turn 18 I'm just gonna buy the 6s on my own single line unlimited Sprint Plan.

85$ unlimited everything. [emoji16]

I, personally, don't mind Apple's closed guidelines on App development. It allows them to keep the malicious crap off of its users phones, unlike that other App Store where people are getting malware left and right.

Every year, Apple has opened things that were jailbreak only. By even allowing apps to access certain parts of CoreTelophony since iOS 7, I believe that by iOS 10 we should have this app available in the App Store as is. At least, I hope it will be. Of course, I wouldn't mind if Apple opened it up enough in iOS 9.

Lol still a long time and since Apple is really stabilizing the software with iOS 9 I'm not expecting to see any major new features.

Remember, the inclusion and expansion of Public CoreTelephony API's wasn't greeted with fanfare. It was pretty quietly added.

I'm sure someone would allow AppleCare being added on this late. The system on the other hand.... Not so much.

Considering it goes by serial number, I believe you are correct. Apple specialists might wish they could, but Apple wouldn't let it.

Any iPhone 6/6+ users able to pull PRL 55022 to their phones? It certainly fixed the dropped calls/blocked calls issues my friend was having yesterday.

All the 5S's in my house have either updated on their own or have been updated by me to 55022. My Dad's 6+ is still sitting at 51104, though.

I'll say, this PRL update has caused us to be able to unplug our Airave. I love it! Now Sprint!! Don't ever change it!!! :P

That'll be awesome when it hits the iPhone 6+. My friends 5S hasn't dropped a call today, and I've dropped one, and almost the 2nd one. And all these problems started with the rain we got here yesterday and the day before.

It looks like the new emojis were included in 8.3B2. Looks like most emojis will have a "touch and hold" option to change skin tone.

    • Was in Red Hook again and I swear there are as many Link5G sites as there are reserved small cells from franchisees in the entire neighborhood. It seemed like every other street I turned down had one installed. Hopefully carriers will start hopping on them soon. Seems like a lot of effort to go through for no one to use them. — — — — — T-Mobile converted the Sprint site on top of NYU Langone Brooklyn in Sunset Park. I first mapped one sector of it back in November 2023 but I thought it was a small cell so I never pinned it but I ran into another sector today which caught me off guard. I'm unable to find a permit for the conversion so it's definitely a surprise. There's another T-Mobile site 1 block away that T-Mobile initially installed back in 2019 so I'm kinda surprised they're keeping both considering the Sprint conversion is on a much taller building and coule potentially provide much better coverage to the entire area.
    • Still not seeing any ULS postings for pending T-Mobile UScellular merger in Dane county Wisconsin.
    • Came across another Crown Castle Solutions multi-tenant oDAS node in Brooklyn. Located at 40.7002286, -73.9612666. Nothing on T-Mobile or AT&T so I'm assuming these are all Verizon nodes that Crown Castle is anticipating another carrier will hop on down the line.
