So has anyone heard of anything new regarding a carrier update or something to solve the issue of the iPhone 6 and 6+ not connecting to band 41?

Which carrier update is that? I'm on 8.3 with a carrier of 18.0.4.

I have the same PRL. I haven't tried to update it in a while. Let me see if it updates.

I brought this topic up about 3-4 Months ago and many were saying that there will be a sprint carrier update to resolve the issue of connecting to band 41. I am on 18.0 with prl 51104.

Well when I was on 18.0 I was always connected to B41. Now I'm days I'm getting more B26. I figured it was because of Sprint doing network optimization.

Anybody know how to stop Google maps voice directions from playing thought my vehicle's Bluetooth? I know the obvious, turn off Bluetooth. But I was hoping to just use Bluetooth for phone calls.

There is no way. If Bluetooth is connected, it goes through that. If an AUX cord is connected, it goes through that. The only other choice is turning voice navigation off.

Can't you change it by selecting the option in the same place an AirPlay device is shown? I know I can when my Bluetooth speaker is connected. You would have to manually switch back to the Bluetooth connection every call though.

Where is an AirPlay device shown? Excuse my ignorance, I'm new to IOS.

Slide up from the home button to access the control panel.

Another method is that when you're navigating, touch the three dots in the lower right, then mute. Unfortunately that turns all audio directions off, but at least it won't go through your speakers.

That's a limitation in the iOS SDK, I don't believe third party apps can control audio output. Apple Maps has this option if you're willing to go that route. Pun not intended ;)

Wish I could get this battery life, instead I have a device with a bad battery.

I traveled up from Chester to the Apple Store at the St. Louis Galleria and had the phone tested, the battery results came back as "Consumed". I went back home last night and did a clean reinstall from the beginning. Took the phone off the charger at 8AM, and the battery is nearly dead at 1:30. Looks like I have a battery replacement I need to do on a device warrantied by Verizon. Lord knows what they would want to charge for that, probably the rate for full device replacement. I could also pay Apple $75 to replace the battery out of warranty. I'm still under contract until November and VZ has refused to budge on converting my account to EDGE device financing.

Apple does battery replacements for free. I got my 5 replaced last year for free. I originally went because my lock button has stopped working but while he was checking my phone he was like oh your just in time your battery was just about used up.

Battery Usage Update

This is awesome lol.

You on the 8.3 betas? My phone is glitching all over the place and I got 3 hours of battery usage today, even with all jailbreak packages besides Cydia removed. It might be time to leave the jailbreak behind and jump onto 8.3. The restore should also unlock my phone if Sprint actually followed through with what they said.

For anyone that's waiting on the CellularInfo jailbreak features: don't worry I have a spare jailbroken iPhone 5 that I use to test CellularInfo.  ;)

What features will be there that we don't have.

Yeahhh 8.3 Beta 1. It's awesome. Even if I don't get 8hrs like today. I've been averaging over 5hrs since I put the thing on my phone. That is of course unless Google Maps is in use lol.

I may have missed something, but does this mean you're creating a non-JB version as well? All of my devices are already upgraded to 8.1.3, so no JB for me, and the beta version you put together is awesome and has everything I need.

Inwas wondering this too. My primary reason for wanting this app was to have an easier way to know what band I'm on. Logging and other stuff isn't as important, even though it's awesome.

The beta is as close to a non-JB version as I can get unfortunately. I was just making sure everyone knew I wasn't abandoning the full jailbreak app. :)

Wait so you're making both a JB version and a non JB version. I thought the reason we didn't have a signal check app on iOS was because Apple didn't give access to that kinda info, am I wrong?

CellularInfo is powered by some private APIs in the CoreTelephony framework. They can be accessed rather easily from any iOS app. However, apps that access private APIs won't pass the Apple App Store Review process. So if I attempted to submit CellularInfo to the App Store right now, it would get rejected instantly.

That's why I'm currently distributing it as a "beta" app using my 100 developer device registrations. That way I can get it on devices without going through the App Store review process.

So, in short: the current beta of CellularInfo is the "non-JB" version. I can't make a "final non-JB" version. :(

    • I think the push for them is adding US Mobile as a MVNO with a priority data plan.  Ultimately, making people more aware of priority would allow them (and other carriers) to differentiate themselves from MVNOs like Consumer Cellular that advertise the same coverage. n77 has dramatically reduced the need for priority service at Verizon where the mere functioning of your phone was in jeopardy a couple of years ago if you had a low priority plan like Red Pocket. Only have heard of problems with T-Mobile in parts of Los Angeles. AT&T fell in between. All had issues at large concerts and festivals, or sporting events if your carrier has no on-site rights. Edit: Dishes native 5g network has different issues: not enough sites, limited bandwidth. Higher priority would help a few. Truth is they can push phones to AT&T or T-Mobile.
    • Tracfone AT&T sims went from QCI 8 to 9 as well a couple years ago. I'm pretty neutral towards AT&T's turbo feature here, the only bad taste left was for those who had unadvertised QCI 7 a couple months ago moved down to 8. In my eyes it would have been a lot better for AT&T to include turbo in those Premium/Elite plans for free to keep them at QCI 7, while also introducing this turbo add on option for any other plans or devices. As it stands now only a handful of plans can add it, and only if you're using a device on a random list of devices AT&T considers to be 5G smartphones.
    • My Red Pocket AT&T GSMA account was dropped to QCI 9 about a year ago.  Most recently 8 for the last few years prior.  Voice remains at 5.
    • https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2024/05/att-announces-7-monthly-add-on-fee-for-turbo-5g-speeds/ Hopefully we don't ever see T-Mobile do something like this. Based on how I was treated with my Credit Limit, it's definitely not the same company it was before the merger, and it's entirely possible they'd try it.
