iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus User Thread

For those jailbroken, I'm curious if anyone has seen or tried the Carrier Update Hacks released the other day. Here is the thread from the Reddit Jailbreak subreddit:

http://www.reddit.com/r/jailbreak/comments/2m82mq/carrier_update_hacks_now_available_for_beta/

I'm fairly dubious of anything that doesn't come from s4gru, but interested if anyone knows more about these.

TIA

Just installed the Sprint bundle on my 5S. Will report back any issues/improvements. I'm not stuck with "No Signal", so that's a plus.

Does apple pay require a network connection to work? With Google wallet, once the app is unlocked you can still use tap and pay if you lose connection in the store. You just won't be notified in the app that the payment went through until you reconnect. I ask because some stores around here are rf black holes.

The information is being transmitted through the NFC controller and does not need wireless.  Starts on page 24 of the document below from Apple:

Downloaded the new update and can't say I've noticed any difference between the two. I didn't really pay too close attention to the before and after though. So far it seems stable. No issues on my end.

Same. I feel like the tiles landing in when you unlock the phone is slower yet again but nothing else seems effected. Hopefully just more stability lol. Keep them coming apple! But don't brick my phone lol

Mine is nearly instantaneous. Like pulling a sheet off a bed with all the apps beneath it. I don't have a lot on my phone so that may have something to do with it as well.

Yes. It's still 18.0 and I think the prl is the same as before also. No change at least on my phone.

Thanks for your response. I ask because there is a known issue from Sprint technical support about the iPhone 6 having an issue holding an LTE signal, more specifically, band 41. My phone is constantly hanging onto band 25 for way too long (-118dbm signal) without switching to band 26, and just dropping me to 3G. They claim a fix is in the works, and should be pushed by the end of the year (we all know how Sprint is with software release dates, so we shall see). I can't recall Sprint ever "pushing" a carrier update to my phone since I've been with them. T-Mobile used to do it back in the day, and I know these bundles usually just come with the next iOS update.

My phone has shown an updating carrier settings message a few times on my phone since I've gotten it.

Maybe that's what's going on with my phone. I used to never have an issue with B41 at home and now I get timeout errors and all around slow speeds. Been dropping a lot more calls but who knows what that could be. All the rep told me on chat was they're working on things in the area. Didn't even offer up the carrier update as an explanation.

I've been seeing it on the iMore forums too. People are putting their iPads down for the 6/6+ more and more. I think Apple kind of underestimated what they were doing with bigger screen iPhones.

I've actually had the opposite experience, I've been using my iPad mini even more frequently now with the interoperability between devices. I have the cellular model, so I can use the mini all day and save my iPhone 6's battery.(Sorry to bring back a topic that's a few days old...)

Has anyone ever experienced entering your information into a field on a website, albeit a username or password, and it the key press freezes, locking up Safari until you close it and reopen?

I've also installed the carrier bundle. I really don't notice any difference. Still dropping to 3G when band 25 climbs up way too high. Band 26 is prevalent here. I've direct messaged the guy that wrote the bundle to ask if he'd look into the signal thresholds, or see if band switching can be adjusted better. He hasn't responded.

Yeah I installed it. I'm probably going to revert back to normal because I haven't noticed any change from before.

YES! Though it seems to happen on my iPad, not iPhone 6.  Really annoying.  Seems to be something with autocorrect as it didn't happen when I turned that off.

I have a problem with the predictive text not showing up on the messenger app sometimes for the stock IOS keyboard. I have to go into settings and turn it off and then back on for it to show up. Anyone else have this issue?

Yeah always. With stock keyboards and especially 3rd party. Sometimes the keyboard will completely disappear and I have to restart the whole app or the keyboard itself.

I might be heading back to Android and picking up the N6 tomorrow (if any stores in my area have it in stock).

My iPhone 6 64GB in space gray is probably headed for Swappa.  I know this isn't a forum to post anything about selling, but if any of you know anyone looking for one PM me and maybe we can work something out.  That's all I'll say.  I hope I don't get in trouble!   :hide:

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
