1GB of RAM is not plenty. I'm tired of having to retype a form because Safari refreshes the page after changing tabs for a moment.

 

 

Your issue has nothing to do with 1GB of ram.  This problem began when they updated to Safari 5.1. ( See explanation below ) People who switch away from a tab for 'awhile' tend to experience this more then people who switch away momentarily.  This isn't only happening on iPhones and iPads, but on desktop Mac Pro i7's - with 12 GB of RAM- anything running Safari  -  so  this isn't memory related. Some are using Chrome on iOS until Apple fixes this.  I found this explanation from a guy at MacWorld who explains having your issue and said he now uses Chrome until a Safari fix is released..

 

 

"Safari Web Content—a core element of what Apple calls WebKit2, the rendering engine that powers Safari—is actually an attempt by Apple to emulate one of Chrome’s key features: By decoupling Safari (the browser) from Safari Web Content, the browser should remain more resilient if an individual webpage goes haywire. Thus, rather than having a rogue Flash script crash your entire browser, it should only crash the current tab.

 

That’s now true of both Chrome and Safari....

 

The problem is that Safari’s implementation is flawed, and Apple hasn’t fixed it yet. Like the iPad and iPhone, Safari for Mac NOW refreshes tabs’ content when you go back to them if you haven’t viewed them in a while, which can wipe out any content you’ve entered into a form. Even if there’s no form data to lose, this behavior still means that you get to wait for the page to load all over again."

In guessing a crap load of b41 was lit up in my city today. The downside is my data usage is gonna shoot through the roof cause I've been doing speed tests throughout the day based on where I am in my city. Time to uninstall the speed test app.

Eh keep testing. But only as long as you make sure your on b41 first. Otherwise the bandwidth cops will give you a warning.

No, bloatware infested skins the individual manufacturers pack in android are that large. 4.4.4 is about 3.5GB installed on its own and runs just fine on lesser hardware.

I don't really know.. but doesn't the size depend on the OEM manufacturer and whats installed by them ?

 

My sons LG G2 came with 32 GB - but only 24 is free.   A Samsung Galaxy S5 shows that on a completely clean and brand new 16GB model, there will be about 8.4GB free as usable space, which is a little bit less than what  was available on the Galaxy S4. Yes, in your case a completely clean and brand new 16GB Nexus 5 offers about 12.16GB of available space.  Although you might be using Kit Kat it's different then the one on the Galaxy S5, no ?  I mean my cousin says he gets all his Android updates from Samsung and or his carrier.

 

Let me add I just looked my iPhone 5c ( updated to iOS 8 ).. its taking up exactly 3.3 Gb's .. thats iOS 8 ( the largest iOS so far ) which includes the normal Apple software installed in a base install: Apple Maps, iTunes, Safari, etc.. - which would compare to the normal Google Apps coming with an Android phone.  The 3.3 Gb's of iOS 8 is only slightly less then your install of Kit Kat ( the smallest Android yet ).. but the free space on your Nexus phone isn't apparently typical of the base install of other OEM's...Id read somewhere that after a user upgraded his phone to Kit Kat that he was just around 7Gb's and that it was less taken then previous.. I tried finding something more solid on which phone but can't find it yet.

 

So I Google'd the "space taken" by versions of Android.  Kit Kat is the smallest - and can run fine on 512mb of RAM.. Half of what an iPhone uses.  Gingerbread full install: including Google Apps, source code is 6.5GB,  For ICS full install: including Google Apps, source code 9.5GB ..Kit Kat was supposed to be much smaller - but I saw no hard number as what you gave me for your Nexus 5..

My point was, android isn't bloated on its own, its manufacturers that load it up with crap that causes problems. Samsung is one of the worst offenders. A clean aosp ROM would use less space without Gapps, but even the nexus 4 which has poor hardware by today's standards will run 4.4.4 buttery smooth.

So bummed, I had to turn in my 6+ back in to sprint. They had. It on a lease and not easy pay. They could not fix it so I had no choice but to turn it in unless I wanted to keep the lease. If they would have had one in stock I would have been in good shap but they only had the six in stock.

Why in the world couldn't they return the phone and sell it back to you through Easy Pay? That seems ludicrous to me.

That is what I am saying. It has something to do with once a phone is returned they can not sell it as new. It has to be sent it for refurbish stock.

So I got 9 hours of usage, and 21 hours of standby and had 4% left before I plugged the phone in. I am very satisfied with the battery life of this phone.

Not sure of this has been answered/asked in the thread but is a sprint iphone 6/+ unlocked to use a verizon/tmobile/AT&T ? And are the other models unlocked to utilize a sprint sim? I've read on other forums that a tmobile and AT&T 6/+ can use a verizon sim completely. Thanks !

At this time sprint does not unlock iPhone models for domestic use. You can have it unlocked for international use but not for AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile.

It might but I doubt it; however, the Sprint model has more LTE bands than the other model so I'm not sure if the other model would be the right choice for Sprint's network - the other model doesn't have B41, for example.

I don't think the Verizon/Att versions have the correct LTE bands for sprint.

But isn't it missing only 3 or 4 bands and only one of those is used with spark (along with two others) and the other bands it is missing only used in China?? I could be wrong.
