S4GRU reconfirms June 10th Launch of the EVO 4G LTE by Robert Herron
Sprint 4G Rollout Updates

Rumors are spreading like wildfire that the EVO LTE is going to be launching early...maybe even as soon as the middle of May.  However, S4GRU.com has received internal documentation from a source in Sprint's Product Development division that reconfirms the June 10th launch date for the new HTC EVO 4G LTE.

In fact, the EVO LTE is currently finishing up its stay in the Sprint Lenexa labs and was scheduled to complete lab testing on April 27th.  However, there are problems with the device that are occurring.  It is being reported to S4GRU that "LTE device connectivity in lab testing continues to be problematic due to under defined processes and complications around provisioning and SIM UICC profiles. Escalation of this issue is in progress."

This is not believed to hinder the previous schedules that S4GRU received from Sprint and reported to you.  Sprint is still proceeding with a May 7th Pre-Order start and device launch on June 10th.  And Sprint did take the EVO LTE pre-order site live last night.

Given this latest information about lab testing issues, the rumored Mid May launch seems all but impossible.  Once the device can leave the lab, it will still take approximately 4 weeks for production runs and distribution.  Although some of you may be inclined to say that the EVO LTE has slipped from schedule and is now running late, S4GRU was the first to name a launch date for this device, and we said it was June 10th the first time.  So it sounds like even with the lab setback, it's still right on time.

June 10 can't come soon enough. Hopefully the technical issue can be solved before release.
I am gonna be all over this when it comes out, I can't wait. I hate being a phone whore, its a very expensive habit. :(
I was salivating a bit at the thought of getting my new EVO in May but I guess the additional wait time will only heighten the sensation when I finally reach that EV-O moment!
Why is everyone saying that they took the pre-order site live last night? That's just the sign up to be notified page and it has been up since this phone was announced. Unless there is something that I am missing that is...
The EVO 4G LTE phone hasn't even hit the FCC yet so how can it be launched in May anyways. I trust Robert in his findings that we will see the EVO 4G LTE around June 10 or later.

Besides I think Sprint wants to give the Galaxy Nexus and LG Viper more time for sales.

Oh Eric, shame on you. The evolte went through the fcc a couple weeks ago.

Yes, in fact, we even ran a story on the EVO 4G LTE's FCC application the day it hit the OET database two weeks ago.

Spence...we reported it accurately, "Sprint is still proceeding with a May 7th Pre-Order start and device launch on June 10th. And Sprint did take the EVO LTE pre-order site live last night."

We didn't say that Pre-Order has started, only that the site where it will happen is now live. We are very clear that Pre-Order is scheduled to begin on May 7th.

IDK about its embedded battery. Sometimes my EVO 3D will become unresponsive and holding down the power button doesn't do anything, I have to take the battery out. How will that work on the EVO LTE?
Should be a button combo, Power + Volume down would do a "battery pull" from what I've read

Hold down the power button and the volume buttons together and your EVO 3D will reboot. This is true of any HTC, and almost every Android phone. This will also work on the 4G LTE.

Sorry Robert didn't mean to offend, but I wasn't actually referring to your article. Engadget posted an article that basically says that this is the pre-order page. Re-reading my post I can see how painfully vague I was about that though.

Sorry again.

P.S. I was going to post the link to the article, but now I see that it has already been corrected. You would've gotten quite the laugh out it.

No problems. It looked like to me you were complaining about our article with all the ones out there.

I am very excited about the upcoming sprint line-up......Should make for a tough summer as far as decision making
On my birithday? Why Sprint, you shouldn't have ;)
I realize there are places where WiMax 4G doesn't even exist, and also places where Sprint's 3G network is usable. But as spotty as Clear's 4G network is, it's sometimes the only data I have if I'm away from WiFi. The 3G network is so overloaded where I work that it's basically down most of the time. I wonder how much trouble Sprint's going to have with people who live in WiMax markets and have been using 4G, upgrade their Evos, and start complaining about how bad the data speeds are. I bet a lot of them won't even realize that until NV is live in their city, they've actually downgraded and given up access to a high speed network.

Yes, I know when the Evo launched, lots of people bought it without having WiMax. But Sprint's 3G network was in a lot better shape then.

It is going to be an issue for early LTE device adopters in many WiMax markets. Someone in a WiMax market who uses it regularly, should probably wait to upgrade until NV is well under way in their area.

I just hope Sprint does the right thing (at least in their own sales channels) and trains the sales folks to make sure this is clear to people when they buy an LTE device in a market that has WiMax and not LTE. Not only because disclosing it is the right thing to do, but also because they don't need that kind of negative blowback.

I can see a sales rep needing to make a sale and just telling the customer what he thinks they want to hear, regardless of the training. I take anything a sales rep tells me with a grain of salt. I assume they either don't know or they are just trying to get a sale. I always recommend to friends that they do their own research online before making a purchase. Especially if they are buying at or near launch day.
Anyone see the "confirmed" release date of May 18th that's circulating? Who to believe??? Yargh
What I'm seeing internal looks like May 18th but I know how Sprint does things so I'm not holding my breath.
