  1. Unlike the roads today. Silver line for the win!
  2. Sprint B41 service has expanded in Tysons Corner (Towers Crescent complex). What a nice way to start 2015!
  3. Yeah, you're really not missing much with WiFi Calling at this moment. They are still trying to figure it out and I would not have them expand to more phones until they work the bugs out/build up capacity.
  4. It really all depends on what the tower wants. I assume this was a clearwire B41 site?
  5. Nope, those areas are apart of the DC Market. The two markets (DC and Richmond) bump together right south of Frederick, VA.
  6. Yeah, I've never been able to send or receive MMS over WiFi calling. I believe I read somewhere that it may be due to billing code issues since I have a business account. A tad annoying.
  7. So I joined the serial podcast craze during my long drives up and down I-95 between Richmond and DC. I guess you can only take so much preaching and top 40 'music' before looking for something else. Anyways, this season of serial was about a '99 murder just outside Baltimore City. (For more details feel free to go to: http://serialpodcast.org/) During episode 5 by the 28 minute mark, they begin talking about how accurate cell phone records are and whether they have been misused, at times, in law enforcement investigations and following proceedings. So during my drive, I began to wonder what Sprint's records of me look like. Are those physics defying connections (like to a tower far far away) recorded by Sprint and thus, could be used against me some day? Far fetched, I know. Below are direct links to the map and logs they mention. Per a later podcast, I believe these must be legacy AT&T towers from 1999. 8. Corporate debt is risky - no matter how much sunshine a company is under when the debt is issued. In five years, a company could go broke from all sorts of mistakes and they don't have the luxury of a press that makes cash. After the crisis, where the ratings agencies were well.... taken out back... they have become over sensitive. Anyways, in my world (finance) we generally use them for the data aggregation, but not much else. Lawyers do use them as triggering clauses, but even that is being curtailed. That said, if you like to gamble (and aren't about to retire on that money)... Sprint's debt and equity is a fun ride.
  9. Yeah, without Clear you'd see much diminished service within the District. It really shows how powerful B41 can be even if it stands on its own. Unfortunately, a lot of the remaining sites are either difficult or waiting for back haul. Every week it gets better though!
  10. Just watch out for those bath salt sniffing cannibals!
  11. I didn't, but my mother did and she felt special since it was FedEx'ed. Oh the gimmicks people fall for.
  12. With the silver line, I gave up my car and commute to Tysons everday. Overall, I am happy to have the option again - my blood pressure and mental health have returned to normal. Anyways, I am pretty sure wireless service has gotten worse overall in the system. My work iPhone (Verizon) used to have consistent service in tunnels and stations, but now it is pretty much as useful as my Sprint phone. Kind of sad considering five years ago people used to be able to talk on their phone from Shady Grove to any station downtown. Let's hope someone is actually working on it and frankly, if it is now every man for themselves - Marcelo could pick up quite a few customers around here by have strong metro service. It really gave Verizon the edge in 2000-2009.
  13. Howdy DMV'ers and other lurkers - I have a quasi-related to NV topic: DC Metrorail Cellular Service. Over the past few weeks I have been trying to figure out what the current status is with deployment within metro stations and the tunnels. I submitted a question and gave a short summary/timeline to PoPville (a popular local blog on DC), which you can find here: http://www.popville.com/2014/12/dear-popville-whats-going-on-with-expanding-wireless-service-in-metro/ Sadly, no one really has any information on the project's current status. WMATA pointed the finger at the carriers and the carriers have been either non-responsive or do not have any information. To Marcelo's credit, he did respond that they are 'working on it.' Anyways, just wanted to drop that topic in case anyone here has more information on any roll out plans.
  14. Yeah, we use 'Good' too, but luckily we have a new nifty execs in IT and InfoSec that are exploring moving to a more 'native' like experience. Thank God, Google is recognizing the MDM/EMM movement.
  15. Something very nostalgic about 'mode.' Conjuring up memories of my Sanyo SCP-8100, what a beast of a phone for the time.
  16. Slowly recovering a bit, but as Robert has mentioned the lower the better for Sprint. Although, I bet my friends on Wall Street are starting to digest this information and are frantically putting models together for a Sprint buyout. Oh the joys of legalized gambling finance.
  17. My local clear site was acting crazy here in DC. Seems to have come back online. Someone must have forgotten to pay the cable bill.
  18. Is that in Tampa? I've seen Bright House use fiber-span equipment before without plastering the BH logo all over it.
  19. Maybe @BarackObama should head to #Ferguson to calm the people...

  20. I like how he said 'SPRI-EENT' at the :30 second mark. I may just update my English pronunciation.
  21. Hey ANC2F-03'ers - apparently we have no candidate this election. Feel free to write me in! #DCision14

  22. RT @wcp: Catania says he's never lost an election, dating back to the third grade. This morning, he put his odds at 50-50: http://t.co/g8O…

  23. Hmm, where in Arlington do you work? Is it at a military installation? I know they love their lead walls.
