  1. Unfortunately, all I can do is speculate. I know on the LTE side of the shop, the network decides which band you connect too. Your experience seems to mimic that albeit, I am not sure the CDMA network is that 'smart.' Do you have any LTE in your area? I am curious what happens, if you set your phone to CDMA-only.
  2. This was more of a marketing decision. While I like the Sprint Spark branding, I do agree they could have done better... the Spark MIcrosite is pretty bad. Luckily for Sprint, Masa has hit the reset button with Sprint Marketing. Anyways, visited NYC this weekend and service was much better than I anticipated. Heck, I was getting LTE on Ellis Island and my partner-in-crime's Verizon GS4 could barely register a signal. It just felt soooooo good.
  3. Well that might just show how overwhelmed the legacy backhaul is... Help is on the way.
  4. Looks like a drive by may not be necessary with this most recent update.

  9. I say the same thing about NoVA all the time... Although, whenever the silver line opens it will make my life much less stressful than siting in the assortment of moving parking lots trying to get home. Yeah, only if you get a chance. I'm hoping for some Masa magic with work underway already...
  10. A lot of it comes down to who owns the 'local-ish' lines and whether microwaves will be used. Many rural sites use microwave dishes to get backhaul, the problem is who runs the backhaul at the origination point. I've seen Comcast and Verizon do some dirty things here in DC (Comcast loves to accidentally pull competitor's cables) and it wouldn't surprise me if it happens in other business units....
  11. So I work next to Tyson's Uno and had issues, but they seemed to have dissipated after a few new towers came online. Unfortunately, we are only halfway through the upgrade process in this area.
  12. I believe this may be a subcontractor for ALU.... I've seen a few of their employees tied to permit pulls here in the DC area. http://www.networkbuilding.com/working-with-us/career-opportunities/wireless-project-manager/

  14. Oh they already know... Anyways, they should focus on pressuring backhaul providers to deliver and 'working with' local governments for expedited permits.
  15. The timing of this move is peculiar, we just 'redeployed' half my team yesterday. Maybe this week was the quarterly reorganization week. Anyways, I think this is a great organizational move. At the end of the day, the 'network,' at a primarily wireless firm, should be the only focus of one C-level executive. Having peered into the inner workings of Sprint, many teams are still stuck in the pindrop era.

  17. Any chance you can head downtown to see if any activity has occurred?
  18. Well it looks like hope is on the way. A permit was issued on 2/11 (App #: BP-14-00365) by the City for 30 W Patrick. This straggler also includes some Microwave antennas, so hope is on the way for a quick LTE deployment in the immediate downtown.

  21. It looks like we both jinxed ourselves. More snow heading our way next week. What happened to our relatively mild, mid-Atlantic winters...

  23. With the snow hopefully staying away for the rest of the season - let's hope they can finish NV build out here and along 95 south to Richmond.
