  1. Your app is amazing and I was not questioning it at all. I use it all the time. It amazes techs from Ericsson that I have run into. I was trying to say (poorly) is there seems to be a lower level that e911 has access to that we in user land do not. I really was hoping we could piece together some pattern that the offsets would make sense... From what I have heard over police radio they can pinpoint the same gps and network coordinates your app reports. Sent from my EVO LTE
  2. Network location is usually handled at the device level for 911. Is there any pattern for the offsets? More at the coasts, less in the middle of the country? Sent from my EVO LTE
  3. There is very little legacy equipment left except for the backhaul. I agree with what you are saying though. I think the consensus here is no one knows why the backhaul is in some places a year and a half behind from being finished and connected up. Some of the backhaul types that are delayed have left me scratching my head also. In Crystal Lake there are a group of towers using MW backhaul that have had the visible MW equipment and full tower/structure builds done for over a year and yet no LTE and fast evdo speeds. There are probably been a few contractors and Sprint employees that have had some very tense meetings over areas like those. Sent from my EVO LTE
  4. Am I the only one that looks at those figures and thinks Wow, a lot has been done! This is a completely different network this year then last year for most people. I am sitting in my aluminum sided house a half a mile from a tower with nice LTE, while using of all things an Evo that has horrid Rf. Those sites that remain will likely get more attention the closer they get to the end. Sent from my EVO LTE
  5. Is this the site that provides service to most of NIU? Sent from my EVO LTE
  6. All of the symptoms you describe sound like a device issue. They are not typical. The issues people had in the Chicago area during the network vision upgrades were slow/no data and dropped calls. I experienced those but never got error messages sending text messages. The issues I had were location dependent as well. I do not have any of those issues anymore. It has been a long time since I have had a dropped call. Sent from my EVO LTE
  7. The original plan was to start in the far out suburbs and work their way in. That is fairly standard industry practice from what I have seen. Why would you want to start a huge replacement project with lots of potential complications in your busiest area? Sent from my EVO LTE
  8. Yeah, I usually am served off the Pyott Road tower. Speeds fly here. I know you were struggling up there so I was just wondering if you had any improvement. The microwave dishes are going to corrode and fall down before they are used. Sent from my EVO LTE
  9. Have they improved your 3g speed at all yet? Sent from my EVO LTE
  10. We need a bit more info. What problems are you having? Most of the Chicago area is awesome, except for a few horrid exceptions. Do you live in one of these areas? Do you do a lot of traveling? Sent from my EVO LTE
  11. This one in the Chicago area is not showing sprint. The work you are doing is awesome! Thanks for doing this. Sent from my EVO LTE Edit - I am having some issues posting images. It is SID 4384.
  12. Very true, although no one has reported it happening yet. If someone sees it happening then we may learn more about when Sprint will throttle. Keep in mind, if you are streaming even at a constant 1mb it is crushing the network regardless of the carrier. You put a few of those on the same sector and channel and Sprint throttling would be the least of everyone's worries. Sent from my EVO LTE
  13. This man speaks the truth. I am constantly messing with my EVO LTE and have done this for testing reasons several times. It does kill off automatic band selection until you do a complete factory reset. I would love to have the ability to force 1x band selection and leave the pcs bands intact for other technologies, unfortunately it shuts off the other bands completely. You lose Sprint evdo if you set it for the SMR or cellular bands. Sent from my EVO LTE
  14. I think the important word is "may". No one has reported it actually happening yet. Sent from my EVO LTE
  15. Keep in mind that is 30 simultaneous voice and data connections. It can have far more phones associated with it. I believe airaves can have 50 or 60 phones associated with them, but only 6 simultaneous data or voice connections. I have deployed airaves in busy classrooms with 70+ students in the area and our staff are able to still place calls with them. The reason airaves don't make good in building solutions is they do not work when more than one airave is in an area or when phones can see more than one. Sent from my EVO LTE
  16. I just signed up for the new plans. I have three phones on a 3000 minute family plan. Two of those phones will get away with the 1 gig data limit. It shaved off about 25 bucks a month. I am happy. Sent from my EVO LTE
  17. You are correct. However I just tried to change my plan to a new plan (I currently have a 3000 minute family plan, these new plans may save me some money) and the website was horribly broken, I couldn't add the data options. We may see the site change as the day goes on. Sent from my EVO LTE
  18. The plans are still there. I can change my plan to an everything data family plan via the website. Sent from my EVO LTE
  19. I think it was some sort of an outage. I have LTE in my house in McHenry county and lost LTE and ehrp for a few hours this afternoon. Interesting that you saw the same thing. Sent from my EVO LTE
  20. I truly hope that the rf engineering department at whatever cell company is asking for the work to be done at a cell site has written instructions on what knob to turn for the field techs. The only engineering I saw with our bda setup was what tower to point yagi at. Where I work we have had to call Ericsson out a couple times to work on our bda units in a few areas because DC wasn't working. I had already figured out what the problem was (one evdo carrier had an enormous amount of noise) and knew the signal coming from the amp was far to hot. When the guy from Ericsson came out it took me 15 minutes to convince him that my Dura XT was using Sprint DC and not IDEN. He was thrown off by the xxx*xxxxx*xx DC numbers we were using. The rest of the service visit was just as bad. A different guys came out the next day and was a little better and I was able to steer him in the right direction. He also unlocked the g block so now we get Lte! That said all the bad techs seem to have a good tech to call and get advice from. I have also seen some brilliant Ericsson field techs on this board. I just hope they don't get burned out. Sent from my EVO LTE
  21. I have shadowed a guy installing sprint bda and an antenna distribution systems where I work. It amazes me how little they know about the equipment they install. If they over amplify the band they are trying to target it doesn't play nice with other surrounding pcs bands mostly because the receivers in the phones are overwhelmed. None of the installers that are working for a cell company care about what they do to phones on another company. All they test for is the carrier they are doing the install for. Sent from my EVO LTE
  22. An Inter frequency handoff is a hard handoff however just because there is a hard handoff during a call that doesn't mean the call will always be dropped. I would think it's more likely the call will continue then drop. That said, hard handoffs are likely one of the biggest reasons for dropped calls. Sent from my EVO LTE
  23. I have noticed a pretty big difference within a structure. The band also seems quieter since there are not a lot of phones on it yet. At that distance though their are a lot of other issues that come into play. The antenna down tilt at the tower would play a much bigger role. Sent from my EVO LTE
  24. They all changed in Chicago when the 1x and EVDO work was done on a tower. I'm not sure if they are changing in other areas. Sent from my EVO LTE
