  1. When I'm bored I run speed tests on my spare Nexus 6 with a t-mobile SIM in it. t-mobile whitelists the app and allows you to run tests without even paying for service. I like to think that I'm slowing down there network and causing people to switch to Sprint.
  2. See what happens when you run both speed tests at the same tiime but using different servers. I've notice a lot of the servers around me can't handle multiple tests at once when testing my sprint and t-mobile phone at the same time.
  3. Just got back from a trip to israel. When I got there Israel wasn't included but when I found out it was it wouldn't work. A quick call to Sprint fixed the problem. Only problem was that i couldn't receive calls. They couldn't figure it out and wanted to reset my network connection but said they couldn't unless i was in the US. Speeds were capped at .06Mbps but the upload speeds weren't capped at all and would reach over 1Mbps. PIng was constantly ~477 and I think this was due to using a sprint server/APN to cap speeds. The roaming partner there is Partner or Orange as its marketed in Israel. I had a local Orange sim card and Ping was much lower with speed tests but the upload speeds were about the same. I managed to use about half a Gb while I was there. I also use the service during my layover in Moscow Russia both on the way there and home. Download speeds where capped at .06 and upload speeds would maxout a little slower. Ping was high as well.
  4. i was at a mets game recently and my phone stuck to Clear B41. Speeds were sub 1mbps. Forced my phone to 3G and speeds were even worse. The wifi there is amazing tho, hit 20mbps before the game started. I also put in my tmobile sim and speeds were alittle better on both HSPA and LTE
  5. The further west you go from the coast the less dense the towers are which is a problem since the area and population has increased over the past 10 years. The amount of towers has most likely remained the same. You can look at the NV Update maps if you make a donation. Its well worth it,
  6. Will the update only download over wifi? I cleared the data for the google process and now its been "waiting to download" for the last 30 mins. Im at work and have wifi but I believe the filter is blocking the download. edit: I reset it again and now its says my phone is up to date. I hate delayed rollouts. edit 2: i would side load it but i only have a iMac.
  7. How does Boingo know a phone is a Sprint phone? Does Sprint have a database of MAC addresses that they supply? hope its doesn't rely on Sprint Connections Optimizer, that app is really annoying
  8. Noticed a new site in the middle of the turnpike in West Palm Beach, Florida. This used to be a Nextel only site. https://www.google.com/maps/place/26%C2%B037'52.5%22N+80%C2%B010'28.0%22W/@26.631259,-80.17445,19z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0 Signal Check PRO had the BLS at the point marked above and in the sponsor section this location is a Nextel site I think my phone would only connect to 800 and eHRPD at the same time. It might of connected to 1xRTT but I don't remember. Data was unusable but I could make calls on 800. This tower has slightly improved the signal in Wellington FL area but another tower might be needed. Maybe once this current tower is fully updated it will be enough. Hopefully it won't take long. Edit: I can never get links to work correctly on here.
  9. I think there was a sprint site on or near the building in the East Village that collapsed. It might of even been on the exact building. Any one notice if this site is down. I wonder what happens in these sort of situations. NY14XC92340.728364434398365, -73.98829824224558, 123 2nd Avenue, New York, NY 10003, USA
  10. very cool, never heard of an omni directional antenna for a cell service. wish sprint would install these near this area. alot of gaps in coverage due to site being far apart which is due to all the villages having very strict law for towers. its a very wealth area.
  11. Looks like some sort of antenna, but i have no clue. i always see small antennas and things on towers or rooftops and I know they are for security systems, fire, police, and public safety. But this things looks much different. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/sxcdz8r9ljzcts6/AAAGuKZKPQoAvKKCNW3l4F-sa?dl=0 here is the location on a map, you can see it on street view. https://www.google.com/maps/place/40%C2%B046'29.1%22N+73%C2%B040'16.9%22W/@40.774762,-73.671353,19z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0
  12. I wonder if any one can make an overlay of all the decommissioned Nextel site and remove all that already have Sprint on them and those already converted. Im dying to know which 1,100 sites are being converted now. I know of quite of few old nextel only sites that could be used to fill in some coverage gabs.
  13. I'm really hoping once B26 is optimized at the towers by my work that I can get a signal at my desk. Currently if i roll my chair 10 feet back I pick up B26. Its super week though like -112 to -117. When i go back to my desk it drops off. Phone wont even find B25. My 3G signal is between -101 through -107 so I'm hoping once B26 is at full power and optimized it will be stronger than 3G.
  14. Just spent a few days in wellington/west palm area. Was also in boca and miami. The speeds down in florida make me want to move there. The weather would be a bonus. Only issue I had was poor signal in and around the Olympia in Wellington. There is 1 site that is still only 3G and its was incredible slow if it even let me do anything. Sometimes I would connect to a surrounding LTE tower with B26 but it was even slower and unreliable than 3G. This caused my battery to drain very quickly. Had charge my G2 at least twice every day. Found myself keeping my phone on CDMA only mode when in the area to save battery. B41 was amazing in West palm area. Last night at the airport I pulled 30 Mbps Down and 12 Up. The terminal was packed with many delayed flight, could only imagine faster speeds if it was empty. My fast speed test on my trip was 49 Mbps. When inside anywhere B26 was reliable but wouldn't break 12 Mbps. Even though B26 hasn't be optimized it was very reliable. B25/26 in Boca was amazing 12-18 Mbps B41 in Miami was also very fast. Falling back on B25/26 was sub 10 Mbps Markets like this really give me hope for sprint else where and made my trip a lot more convenient. EDIT: When I made a call in and around the olympia I would connect to 800SRM, and the singnal was strong. Give me hope for when the 3G tower broadcasts B25 and especially B26. But I still think that area needs another tower

    Cracked G2...

any clue where i can purchase the screen on my own i can't find it anywhere? what about a 3rd party place that will fix it?

    Cracked G2...

Anyone know how much Sprint would charge to fix a cracked screen or replace it without insurance vs LG. Corner of my screen cracked from pressure in my pocket and now the whole screen is unusable.
  17. Got a few questions. I'm heading into the Manhattan today with my G2 1. Does the stock phone support Spark by default? Sprints Website says that it is coming soon via update. (update: I went into ##3282# after getting my MSL and I went into LTE and enabled the other bands. it is all i needed to do or do i need to change the priority. Now band 25 is 1st, band 26 is 2nd and band 41 is 3rd. I know this can't be right but i've read changing this can screw up the phone) 2. If it doesn't what are the necessary steps to get it working? 3. This is probably best for a another thread but anyone know best place to test for spark?
  18. Picking up LTE in Oneonta for the first time. Signal is weak because its not the tower I normally connect to.
  19. Any chance the Central NY market will be launched earlier since its almost complete. There are only about 20 towers not upgraded yet. Why is a 4th round market almost complete before others markets?
  20. Is there any sort of roaming agrement between USCC and Sprint? Will USCC customers from areas other then the several midwestern markets sold be able to roam on sprints network in the markets sold? Not really sure if that makes complete sense.
  21. Upstate NY central market isn't even listed as a second round market let alone 3rd round market.
  22. 3G ended up coming back after a few days with even strong signal then i had ever had. Reaching .8-1.3mbps during peak hours and up to 2.42mbps at late hours of the night. But Tuesday night I noticed 3G not working again. I checked the Field Test Screen on my iphone and under 1xEV-DO it wasn't even idle like it would be normally but all fields blank. Called sprint and they obviously had me reset the PRL know it would fail I still played along. After failing the tech check the towers and realized there was a ticket on it and that they network tech had blocked EV-DO from connecting. So for all those people complaining about 4G being blocked I have 3G being blocked now lol. oh and she told me the back on air date was june 8th at 12:36 CMT. What a random time for field techs to put lol
  23. Yeah I have and both sites I listed are bad. I haven't been able to do any thing data related. Where I normally have 4 or 5 bars I know have 1 - 2. And at times it switching to Extended 1x. They called me back monday and said they should be fixed by Tuesday 3pm. I think I might drive to the tower to see if it something they had to physically fix and talk to the techs.
  24. It worked, didnt think about that.
