  1. High speed data is HSPA, right? Or does Sprint have international LTE roaming now?
  2. Yeah I've seen the traditional NV equipment when traveling (in San Francisco for example). I've always wondered why other carriers' lowband antennae were so tall while Sprint could cram 800mhz into such a small antenna...
  3. Yeah we've got the same PCS only equipment up here. I couldn't see the panels super well due to my subpar angle and bad lighting but they struck me as noticeably different than the usual. I'll try to head back there again next week. Roads are hilly in the area and it's too icy out for me to head out before Monday probably.
  4. Not the best picture...I'll see if I can get a better one tomorrow although it's snowing here so I'm not sure if I'll be able to.
  5. Hey guys, I think I may have found the first 800mhz antenna installation in the Seattle area (an IBEZ region)!!! But, before I jump to conclusions, because I am not 100% sure, I have attached pictures to see if anyone here can help me verify that my finding is legit. Sprint is the top rack, I believe. Can anyone confirm if the antennas/rrus next to the 8T8R are traditional Samsung NV equipment? I know the picture is not great (used my iPhone 6S camera on full zoom) but I can see three distinct RRUs on the right...does that mean anything?
  6. Ah I see. T-Mobile has done similar things in the northern sound in Port Angels and such - LTE700 on most but not all sites, no WCDMA/HSPA and EDGE on all sites. In my very limited experience in these areas, I haven't seen EDGE from sites that have LTE700 unless I disable LTE...does that line up with your observations?
  7. I tried cellmapper but sadly no one has mapped that area...any other ideas?
  8. Driving through there briefly on the way back from Montana, I recall seeing very high signal levels on EDGE...-65 or so was the highest signal I encountered (if I remember correctly) so I figured there must be a site there. I was unable to pick up WCDMA, HSPA or LTE there as well so I suspect that whatever site serves that area is GSM/EDGE only. I would have spent a bit of time scouting out the area but I was time pressed and sadly couldn't manage anything more than a quick drive through.
  9. Coming back from Montana and sadly I don't have anything new to report. Came across the same previously reported LTE protection sites in the major cities but couldn't find any new conversions or changes from what has already been reported. Oh well…
  10. Hey guys, I was wondering if you guys had any advice as to how to locate a specific cell tower. For example, I am trying to locate the AT&T EDGE tower in Keller, WA. I've tried the basic tools such as antennasearch, cellreception and cellmapper and haven't been able to find much. Any ideas?
  11. Allow split sectors, potentially double speeds, increase signal stability (especially useful at edge of cell) etc.
  12. Yeah Sprint's generally not stellar on the upload but it's be design so…
  13. I can't find the source but I'm sure I remember reading that someone picked up 3xCA on an HTC Bolt and pulled 200mbps...
  14. When it does drop to EVDO, how long does it generally take to get back on LTE?
  15. 2xCA essentially aggregates two adjacent 20mhz LTE carriers to provide higher peak speeds. Think of 2xCA as sending your data over a pipe twice as wide as regular B41.
  16. Yeah...I hope Sprint can shut down PCS EVDO by the end of 2017 and turn up PCS LTE power - LTE is much more spectrally efficient than EVDO and increased PCS LTE power will relieve SMR LTE congestion.
  17. Well that's certainly good to hear. Means Sprint is doing a pretty great job with LTE availability. Do you ever lose LTE putting your phone in your pocket or sitting on it?
