  1. They're really trying to push the loyalty credit. I've called about network issues twice in the past month and both times I was offered the credit to lease a phone. What would actually happen to my ED1500 plan if I were to take the credit? Could I go back to using the subsidize if I return the leased phone?
  2. That's odd. I'm assuming the rep was confused as well about the charges since you can connect to GSM 3G services as well abroad. Sprint phones can use Telefonica's HSPA, which is considered 3G (capped at 2g speeds) of course. The entire International Value Roaming seems a bit confusing as to which networks you're supposed to roam on.
  3. What exactly did they tell you about those charges? I only asked because last time I asked about roaming on iusacell (which is CDMA), they said it was free, but they would still rather have me on GSM in order to have a "better experience".
  4. It's definitely not a solution, but its the right step intomaking it easier to share videos and Hi-res pictures with friends who stay off the grid. What is it with this website's obsession with T-Mobile hate? Even the mods?! Many of us get too carried away with being fan boys. You simply can't deny that some of the stuff T-Mobile has done has pushed other carriers to respond and add features for their customers. Look at the market for evidence. At&t introduced a form of data roll over in response to T-Mobile and Verizon/Sprint have addressed some of their international roaming costs. Had T-Mobile never introduced free international data/texts, do you really think Sprint would have added the same feature? I don't think so. I've bashed Legere before, but damn, some of you have an unhealthy obsession with him.
  5. Exactly. I really don't get the bad sentiment towards RCS. I don't know if its the anti everything T-Mobile crowd of just a genuine dislike for RCS. Its a service that would be welcomed by many users. As a sprint user, I'd welcome it. It certainly won't hurt to have. If you don't like, simply don't use it. Nobody is putting a gun to users head to switch from Facebook messenger or BBM.
  6. I'm neither pro T-Mobile or pro Sprint. As a matter of fact, I'm not a fanboy of carriers. I'm just interested in how they move their networks along. But you consider this 'food' for the 'trolls'. If anything, you should be happy that someone in this industry is pushing the latest technology. It benefits the consumer, which is us.
  7. I was referring on the phone part. I cant imagine this being something overly expensive to do on the network side either.
  8. Customers didn't ask for SMS, Push-to-talk, or smartphones. Yet they became very popular. Steve Jobs put it best; customers don't know what they want. They cannot send high resolution pictures to all of their contacts in one try. I have several contacts spread throughout several services, yet conveniently placed together on my phone book. If I want to send a group message, then RCS makes it easy to send them a video or high resolution picture. Facebook does not as some of my contacts aren't Facebook users. Same applies to WhatsApp, BBM, AIM, etc. The same thing can be said about HD Voice. High quality voice calls have been available through VoIP, but that didn't stop providers from providing HD phone calls. Inter-network compatibility is easier to achieve with RCS than it is for Facebook, AIM, and other messaging services to work together to allow messaging amongst their platforms. That's lost potential revenue for each of those services. Like it or not, everybody has benefited in one way or another thanks to T-Mobile. I personally have benefited as Sprint and other companies have been forced to address international roaming in one way or another.
  9. I seriously doubt other carriers will sit by idle as T-Mobile offers their subscribers an extra feature that they could add with a simple update. With your way of thinking, text messaging should have never taken off either, but yet it did. HD Voice is just the latest example of carriers trying to work to get inter-network compatibility. Networks won't shun their subscribers from the latest technology. If they did, they wouldn't be doing a disservice to their competitors but to themselves instead.
  10. Sprint selling PCS spectrum is definitely not an option. As a matter of fact, they have very little spectrum in the mid and lower bands when compared to their rivals, especially continuous spectrum. So why would they put themselves in an even worse position? A lot of their phones out in use today aren't triband and rely on PCS, so selling spectrum would make a lot of phones today pretty obsolete.
  11. Only if the abusers are running a constant stream of live HD video. Other that that, a 10x10 carrier is a lot better thant 2 5x5 carriers since it provides better peak speeds and it gets people on and off days sessions quicker.
  12. The problem is that while you already have these features with these apps, they aren't integrated into a one stop shop. Try sending a massive picture to a group of people scattered through Facebook, WhatsApp, and BBM. It's inconvenient, time consuming, and it uses data from your bucket to send pics and videos. Also, group messaging is impossible between these services as they don't cross platforms. This new messaging service is definitely a good idea and it will be very useful to a lot of people. Especially for those who choose to stay completely off the grid (which is a growing trend). If ads are a problem for you (which T-Mobile hasn't added), then you haven't been paying attention to the top of your friends feed on Facebook. Its all ADS.
  13. Interesting theory. However, I do find it annoying that Band 41 is still usable under -120 dbm (sometimes even better than B26), yet most Sprint phones will drop B41 right at -117 dbm. Heck, I've witnessed Clear B41 once pull a download speed of 1.5 Mbps with a fringe RSRP of -128 dbm, which is good enough to browse and even check out a low quality video.
  14. Now this I can get onboard with. But since this feature only seems to work with LTE, what would happen if I send a text or picture to someone not on LTE?
  15. Maybe it's just me, but I don't like nor want that feature. Seems a little intrusive if you ask me. One of the reasons I HATED Apple's messaging service.
  16. So are we going to be left high and dry whenever Android M comes out? I haven't seen any announcement or rumor about Samsung supporting the S5 for 5.2. I have only seen the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Duos, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy Note 4 Duos, Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy Alpha and Samsung Galaxy Tab A to be officially announced to receive Android M...No S5. Who am I kidding, we don't even have 5.1 yet.
  17. I'd stay away from Samsung for Sprint. Since the S4, Samsung has gotten worse and the latest phones don't show much promise. For a person like yourself. I would purchase a phone from the Nexus line. The latest Nexus 6 works with all major carriers and can be swapped with very little hassle. The Nexus line (whether from Motorola or LG) also boasts some of the best rf performance for Sprint.
  18. I'm definitely intrigued. I've had issues with missed calls due to my phone not falling back to 1x to receive calls. My only issue would be waiting until Sprint solves some of the balancing issues. B26 tends to get overloaded at times on some parts of town. How does it handle on 3G EVDO? Any noticeable lag while on calls?
  19. 3G has improved dramatically in Houston. A lot of +1 Mbps in a lot of places now.
  20. It depends. What band where you on? If Band 26, the, the answer is yes. Sprint has yet to implement a proper way to balance load between their bands. If no B41 is present, B26 seems to be preferred over band 25 for some odd reason. Also, Houston is a Clearwire LTE market, so most B41 won't travel very far from its tower. Any 8t8r radios out here seem to have been installed and left on low power (probably to protect Clearwire sites spread throughout the area) If speeds get really bad. I would recommend turnig off B26. My tower sees B26 crawl to 0.10 Mbps at times, while B25 sits open around 5-7 Mbps. It's an inconvenience, but at least work is being done to fix this issue. Crews are active around town installing 8t8r on some towers as of early this year.
  21. Wasn't Wimax only deployed on 10 Mhz of spectrum?
  22. I thought the goal for Sprint was to someday do CA with B25 used for upload and B41 for download? Or am I imagining crap???
